I am in Southern Illinois and the McDonald's I called to ask about just buying them said they were told yesterday that they were all recalled and they were not allowed to sell them anymore. Like others, I do remember the scan thing saying by 8/31/20 but it scanned anyway so I did not care.
So if they're recalled, is McDonalds handing out substitute toys of some kind?
I'm also curious if the recalled versions are going to go for extra on Ebay now. Wouldn't that be lame?
I have 1, 2 and 3. Goofy red train engine, Mickey Mouse blue gray rocket, Minnie Mouse jeep with blue dinosaur. the bags are numbered.
I usually ask which toys they have before I order. Monday I went in and they showed me what they had and they didn't look like any of the three that I have so I bought the Happy Meals. turns out that they were old toys they were substituting due to the recall. I got Baby Groot and a gray robot that I think is connected to the Discovery Channel.
today I went by and asked and they said they didn't have any Disney toys and didn't have any further information.

Franchisees are supposed to be substituting older in-stock toys. The article (I found on Mashable) suggests to call your McDonalds to find out what they are giving. Supposedly the Railway toys will comeback one they are repacked with new inserts. I would suspect the EBay prices will be jacked up for toys still in the plastic in the short term, but once the toys are re-released and there is no visible external change to the pouch, the “value” will come back down. Of course there is always the chance the toys never come back. I also have to wonder how many toys will walk out the back door and show up on EBay.
when I went just before the recall, they said they had the first three. it looks like the stores have different ones coming out at any one time. I will probably wait until Monday before I check again.
I have these so far. I’m lucky that we have a ton of McDonalds to stalk near me.
edit to add - I found Minnie and Mickey in the red car today. I’m halfway there and will probably be fat by the time I find them all. I won’t buy them on their own again. I was charged $7.79 yesterday for an ice coffee and one toy. Didn’t realize it until I got home.
I hope the promotion gets extended a little because there are at least 8 McDonald's within a 15 mile radius of me and none of them have the toys since they were reportedly brought back. I know there are more locations, but they're in sketchy parts of town.
I only have 1 through 4 so far. The Tower of Terror toy is the one I'm really after.
Counting yesterday and today, the two closest McDonald's to me have the Disney toys again. One was giving them out at random (you couldn't select the number you wanted, or even know what number you would get). The other restaurant was happy to tell me what number they were on, so I was able to get two more toys for my collection. Now I just need the last two and my collection's complete.
I thought the new/replacement toys were supposed to be missing the tickets in the bags, but I got an entry ticket both recent times. Makes me wonder if they're distributing from old stock.
