McDonalds is disgusting

Well I do know that Wendys uses only 100% ground beef. The mix used to be 80/20. I do not now if that has changed or not. Oh and the 80% is meatand the 20% is fat...your basic mix of the same ground beef you buy in the grocery store. I worked for Wendys back when they had to put the bulk ground beef in a huge machine and patty them each morning. It now comes in pre-pattied cryovac packages and it is still fresh not frozen.

I don't eat beef. :) And the fat is a huge turnoff. ;)

You know what's really weird? I had the McDonald's craving today, so I went to a McD's in Midtown Manhattan, and that place was clean. I ate it 2 hours ago, and so far, so good.

Which one did you go to? I used to be partial to the one at 23rd and Park, but ever since they started delivery in the city, I rarely step foot inside a Micky Ds. The only thing better than a Big Mac meal is a Big Mac meal delivered to the doorstep of your apartment!!

It was in---are you ready for this--Penn Station! on the LIRR level. I work on 33rd & 8th, so I either use that one or the one on 8th between 34th & 35th. Both are really clean, really fast.

It depends on the location. The one closest to my work always has a messy pop and condiment area. No matter when I go there, it drove me nuts to see ketchup all over and spilled pop. So I started to use the drive thru, but they always forget something which makes me go in and wait in line again. So I gave up on them last week.

The other one in town is always nice and organized, clean! The next town away is a pig sty! It is worse than the previous mentianed one! Fries on the floor, dirty tables, its just gross!

Well they will all cook there stuff ahead of tim.Including Wendys. My DH had a friend that worked there when he was a teenager and they would cook the burgers ahead of time and put them in water.
So none of them that I know of but maybe Hardees will cook ahead of time.

Yup! It's *MADE* to order....meaning they don't assemble it until you order it. But it's already cooked. Think about it....they sell Chili and baked potatoes. :rolleyes1 Those couldn't be fast food if they weren't already cooked. ;)

And I think the same guy owns almost all of the McDonalds in the city, so the quality and cleanliness is pretty good straight across the board. We get it delivered seeing my wife refuses to do the "walk of shame" back to our apartment holding a McDonalds take out bag. Heaven forbid...what would the neighbors say?!?! :teeth:

NOT the hamburgers though. The dried hamburgers are put in a holding drawer above the grill to use in the chili. The beef patties they use for the sandwiches are cooked constantly. There are always hamburgers cooking on the grill even during the slow periods. There might only be a couple of patties on the grill but they do not cook a bunch and hold them in water.
I don't think anyone said EVERYTHING was cooked to order. Of course the potatoes and chili has to cook a certain length of time. I understood this to be in reference to the hamburgers.
It has been a while since I worked there but everytime I have been in a Wendys lately I have always seen burgers cooking on the grill and they make the sandwich from a patty that is on the grill ...not..from a pan of water. I watch for stuff like this because I am interested in what kind of changes have gone on trhough the years. The newer Wendys it is even easier to watch what is going on with the grill person. I know if I ever do see a Wendys serving me a hamburger out of a pan of water I will call corporate!!! YUCK!!!

Eww fast food. Doesn't matter how the place looks, fast food is just nasty.

With the exception of an Arby's Martha's Vineyard salad or a onion-less bean burrito from taco Bell (ours are clean) McDonald's and BK literally make me sick. I ate a BK burger out of desperation on a road trip and regretted it for hours afterwards.

Now when I lived in CA, I could eat In-N-Out everyday. (not really, but itwas that yummy.)

As with every other chain - be it a store or a fast food restaurant - it all boils down to management.. Some places are filthy - some are "ok" - and some are spotless..

Maybe you could try out another one - a little further away - if the little guy really likes McDonald's..:)

Nope. At ours, they take the burgers out of a holding area with tongs and make the burger. Now, one 2 towns over takes them streight from the grill, but they are so busy and their kitchen is so small I don't think they have any chice in that.

We were at our local one Friday and walked out. It was filthy! We waited in line for 10 minutes and the line moved up ONE PERSON. :confused3

The salads at our jack in the Box are SOOOOOOOO pretty! Makes me wish I ate lettuce! :)

My understanding is that cooked to order resturants are like Applebees and Fridays types. :confused3

I remember back in the 70s, the local independent TV station was running Star Trek reruns at around dinner time 5 nights a week, and McDonald's was having a Happy Meal/Star Trek promotion of some sort. So, for about a full month, nearly every night of the week, my dad, after coming home from work hot and tired, would bring me to the McDonald's and buy me a Happy Meal.

It was sooo great! Time with Dad on the way to/from McDonald's, a delicious dinner, and watching one of our favorite shows together! What a wonderful time.

Of course, once I got my drivers' license, part of the excitement of having my own car (and part time job) was being able to go to fast food restaurants any time I wanted. I ate Wendy's, McDonald's, Burger King, Carl's Junior, Jack-in-the-Box, or some other form of fast food (like pizza or hot dogs) most nights of the week.

And boy could I eat! I was a teenaged boy, so eating a large pizza with all the toppings was no problem. I remember my friend and I going to Burger King, ordering 12 cheeseburgers, 6 large fries, two large Cokes, and two shakes, and having no problem eating it all between the two of us. And both of us were very skinny!

Eventually I changed, or they changed, or something. I haven't been to a chain fast food restaurant in years, and have only been to locally owned hot dog stands and the like a few times a year. But boy was it great while it lasted! There's nothing that satisfies your hunger quite so well as a quarter pounder with cheese - or three - when you're young. :)

I learned about the 4 food groups while in school:

meat, dairy, fruits and vegetables, and bread.

That means the Big Mac is the world's perfect food, all 4 food groups in one box for about $2.25. How can you beat that?

Where the heck are you that a big mac is $2.25? It's over 3 bucks here.

I totally agree - It's all about management. I've been to some McDonalds where the food was better than others and they were very nice inside (the ones at Disney, for example.)

It's obvious, this one is very poorly managed. They always screw up at the drive thru. It's messy. The food's nasty.

Here's an odd fact about them - Last year, we were on our way home from work and we stopped by there. This was around 6:00PM. It was closed. We never did find out why, but I was always curious about that. In all my life, I've never once seen a McDonalds closed at dinner time on a non-holiday.

Could very well be they failed a health inspection and couldn't reopen until they "cleaned" up their act..

There was a McD's near my old house that had the best french fries ever.. New manager took over, they were cooked in very old grease, and tasted rubbery and rancid.. Needless to say, I never went back to that one again!

McDonald's gives me the poots. I avoid it all costs. McDonald's is the meal that keeps on giving.

That is Burger King for me (and my son)!!! It has the nastiest food I've ever had. Don't know how my oldest DD likes it so much.

Never been sick at MCD.

You might want to adjust your title and original post then. It sounds like you are bashing McD's in general, not just the one you went to.
