Traditionally it was small fries in paper and then regular in cardboard. Then came the split into medium/large with the familiar red cardboard carton. But now I've been to a few locations where medium or large now come in paper. Some locations still use cartons though, but they're not always properly prepped (i.e. pinching out the corners so it's properly expanded)
Also - Chicken McNuggets have been coming in paper recently. I've been having them since they first became available, and they were always in some sort of carton - whether it was cardboard or styrofoam. I do get 4 piece in a sleeve that says 6 piece though.
Still - I come from a time when McDonald's still used styrofoam. I guess paper uses less material.
