Just saw a commercial for mcdonalds...Dont know if this is everywhere and dont know how long it will last, but you can get a quarter pounder, big mac, 6 piece mcnugget, or a filet o fish for $1

I wish! I like the nuggets. Our special is buy a big mac meal get a big mac for 79 cents. We saw the commercial last night. I do not like Big Mac's so i like your special better. We have a dollar menu here. (drink, small fry, apple pies, sundaes, double hamburger maybe a few more double cheeseburger is now 1.19:confused3 I guess to pay for the extra slice of cheese. We also have the free Shrek cup when you buy a 10 or 20 piece meal. I think I might know where I am going for lunch:rolleyes1

I like the $1.99 hamburger Happy Meals on Tuesday and Thursday. We had that last night for dinner.

.49 ice cream and dollar drinks here.
I am surprised at the cost difference in the 20 piece Shrek McNugget meals. It is 12.09 in my town, 7.49 2 exits down the interstate, and 9.09 by the mall in central Lexington.

I like pricing consistency.

I wish! A happy meal is $3.99 here! We hardly ever go to McD's anymore. It costs our family about $30 to eat there.

McD's are privately owned, so each one has different particpation. I know that when you go to McD's in places like Hawaii, London, etc... the prices are much more expensive (makes sence to me). But when one town over in USA "heartland" has a 40% difference in price on some items, it is sticker shock!

on our dollar menu we have the McDouble (double cheese burger), McChicken, drink, apple pie, small fry, parfit. im sure im missing something else lol! i personally am glad we dont have the nuggets for $1 cause hubby would be there all the time! we would go broke! lmao!:rotfl2:

Actually, many McD's are corporate owned (the individual store home page will tell you type of ownership).

The part about restaurant participation is true - owners will decide what specials to run. Many corporate McD's will launch a test run of new food, dependent upon location, like the Angus burger was available in California before going Nationwide.

Pricing may also depend upon location - such as the high rent inside an airport means higher prices on food items.

I wish we had that here! I could go for a cheap Filet-o-Fish.

It seems like our McDonald's never have any of the cool stuff... no special cheap gift certificates (like the ones they had for Valentine's Day where you could buy a booklet for a dollar & it had coupons for free fries and cones... would have made my Munchkin very happy for a few months), no seasonal beverages, etc.
:sad1:

I'm going to have to look into it, and see if the local McDonalds' are participating. We haven't ate there in awhile. I think I'll take the kids there for dinner later.
