I can not recommend Frank's tour enough. I took my nieces and my mother on the tour. It was the perfect balance of shopping, history, culture and plain fun. The price was great, too! I found Frank to be easy to work with. Definately book his tour!!!!

Frank is supposedly an outstanding guide.

Randi is also a good horseback riding option.

You could check cruisecritic board for more information as well.

We had a wonderful day in Mazatlan this past May. We did not do an official ship excursion we explored on our own, very easy and much cheaper.

1st thing we did, get off the ship right away when it docks. Pass through the building that leads you out to taxi area. There are open aired cabs with little canopies on them, those are the ones you want. They will take you where you want, or they will give you a tour for a very reasonable price. A much better tour than you get on a formal excursion..because the tour buses can't go up in the hills where you get the great views. We loved our taxi tour, the driver/guide was excellent. He stopped let us out whenever we wanted, stopped for any photos we wanted..it was outstanding. He gave us pointers, places to eat, where to and not to shop. He did not lead us wrong once with any of his recommendations.

We saw all the monuments, statues, points of interest, etc that we had seen while researching what to do and see in Mazatlan. The cathedral is a must see.

When our tour was over he took us to the Golden Zone, where we were originally planning on going before he offered us the tour. He dropped us at the far side and said easiest to work our way back and said there would be plenty of taxi's whenever we were ready. He wasn't kidding either.

We shopped our way back, stopped in a little sidewalk cantina for lime margaritas and chips/guacamole. Went to Panama restaurant for lunch. Of course the jewelry stores had wonderful prices so we spent money there..lol.

You will really enjoy Mazatlan..the people are great, food is wonderful. We had a blast.

You must get in touch with Mazatlan Frank. We took his half day city tour last month and loved every minute of it. He is a great person who truely loves his city and loves to show it off to visitors. Even the kids on our tour really enjoyed listening to Frank and what he had to say.

My boys and I (9 and 12) toured with Frank in June. It was one of the highlights of our whole cruise. We toured the city in a nice airconditioned van which was great as we could get up and down the narrow streets. He had a tour planned out for us, but we could stop anywhere we wanted. He took us to a great place on the beach, Tony's, for lunch. Then he dropped us at the El Cid hotel and we went swimming. He then picked us back up and took us to the ship. Others that toured with us went shopping in the Golden Zone and he did the same for them. My boys loved him and still talk about our fun day in Mazatlan.

We took a cab to the Golden Zone. We tried to get to the above mentoined Tony's but we were sort of taken next door to Chilis Pepper (waiters from both places were pulling us their way).

We got a table right on the beach, ordered a couple margaritas, and played in the ocean. The water was clean & warm, and the view from the beach was gorgeous. One thing I was impressed with was the cleanliness of the bathrooms at Chilis Pepper. I was worried with the thoughts of a what bathrooms at a beach in Mexico would look like, but these were pretty good.

There were very few people around, in fact at first we were the only ones there. The kids had a blast playing here. A few hours..and a few margaritas later we took one of the open air taxis back to the ship. It was a great beach day. I would definitely go back to that area again.

Mazatlan Frank? Absolutely. We toured with him on our cruise last July. He was just wonderful. He speaks English very well, has an excellent knowledge of his city, and has a very good sense of humor. We did an all-day city and beach tour with him and I must say it was one of the best we've ever done. He has an airconditioned full-size van which accomodated all 9 of us very comfortably. He took us to places that are the tourist destinations and places that only locals would know. The best thing about his tour is he can customize it for you. Check out the thread posted previously and contact him. I highly recommend Frank.

We are doing Randi's and Mazatlan Franks on our next cruise. Randi's in the morning and Franks in the afternoon. Heard too many good things about them and didn't get a chance to go last time.

We did Mazatlan Frank's city tour in August. We had a great time. I would absolutely recommend a tour with Frank. Even my 16 year old son enjoyed himself and really complimented Frank on how great the tour was!

This was my favorite stop on our cruise. It seems less touristy than the other stops and everyone we met was friendly. You must go see the Cathedral. The cliffs are also very beautiful. The "Tourist" shopping is in what is called the Golden Zone. Let them know what cruise ship you are on and get free gifts and discounts. There is more shopping in Old Town near the Cathedral.

We booked our cruise at the last minute so none of us had any time to do research on the city. We ended up picking up a cab at the terminal. We negotiated a great price before we left. I think it was about $10 per person including tip. The driver took us on a tour of the whole area. He stopped whenever and wherever we wanted and even made detours so we could go to customs (to get passports stamped) and the post office. He was friendly and well informed. When I talked to other people who took the city tour excursions or other preplanned tours, we saw more and had more freedom to do what we wanted.

Mazatlan-Frank is a terrific tour guide - we enjoyed a wonderful and knowledgeable tour with him last month - and had a great time - of course we were mostly with other DIS'ers too - so we all knew each other. I have since emailed him for information on the photos we took, so i could journal about them more accurately, and he is most accomodating, and remembers both my DS & I - which i think is SUCH a plus when you are dealing with literally thousands or more tourists a year....he has a thread on this forum as well.....

I just wanted to say to all of you, my friends, Gracias Each one of you was great and I will always remember you! I hope I can see all of you again in the future!

We booked the city tour with Drive and Guide Tour service through the internet. They were great and responded quickly to email. You can find them also inside the terminal in the Pink building. There were 11 of us and they put us on a brand new and airconditioned van (that was the key for us traveling in August). The price is cheaper than most tour services in Mazatlan. The tour was great and relaxing, because you basically set where you wanted to go and stayed as long as you wanted to at any particular place. Don't miss the cathedral, it was beautiful inside. Have fun.....
