Mazatlan, Mexico

The area is called El Pitillal and I would suggest take a taxi. I would say 15 to 20 minutes from the ship. Buen Provecho! (bon apetit)

Frank --

Thank you for taking the time to provide all of this wonderful information on Mazatlan. We are on the Westbound Panama Canal cruise and had planned to take the Tequila, Saddles and Hauraches tour. However you had mentioned in post 164 that the factory was not producing at this time. Will this diminish the experience at all? I'm already waffling on taking the tour. Is it worth the time?

Also, I'm wondering if there are any museums or art galleries in the area that you might recommend. I am not a big beach person (I sunburn well), so are there more cultural experiences you might know about?

Thanks for your help!

Randall

Hola Frank!

Just wanted to let you know that Randi was able to move a mountain and get us on her tour. So thank you for trying to help me!

Can't wait to come back and share our great experiences in Mazatlan with everyone here!

So glad Randi could help you. I love your 2 "babies".

Frank-Since everyone keeps talking about this tequilla tour if one is producing is it possible for you to take us there, or is it far from Maztlan?

As for what I have heard, it is not producing yet. Let me check out and see and I will let you know as soon as I can. They do explain the whole process though and also you get to sample (MMM!). The rest of the tour is very interesting. I would say, go for it. You will enjoy and you will see the real Mexico also.
As for Museaums, we have an arqueology museum and an Art museum. If you would like to see Art made out of leather, go to Nid Art, on the corner of Carnaval and Libertad streets. Half a block from the Old Angela Peralta theatre. They are true artists and my friends also, Loa and Rak. They are a very nice couple and their house was in ruins and it is restored now. It is worth a visit. www.nidart.com is their website. Have a lot of fun amigos!

I am happy that Randi will take you, I am sure that you will enjoy!

Ikohawaii I do not think we could fit in the Tequila factory because we have a lot to see on the City tour. I can recommend Puerto Vallarta though. They have several tequila factories. If you have no plans, I know a very good and nice guide called Alfredo who can take you to one.

Have fun all of you!

Sharon and I will be on the same ride.
Cute kids, we have cats. Not time or space for dogs darn the luck. If we don't see you on board, we'll see you at the terminal.
Can't wait to see the Magic :cool1:

I am sure that you will really enjoy the Magic! I am looking forward in meeting you here. Have fun!

Aloha Mazatlan Frank:

Is it possible to tour with you in the PM - my niece and I are riding with Randi on that day and I believed we will be back at the ship terminal by 2pm. Is there enough time to tour with you? :earsgirl:

Heard and read great reviews about your tours. :flower:

Alohatee...that's exactly what we arranged with Frank. Randi and him worked it out. I was so lucky. Maybe I won't be the only one asking for rice aboard the ship.

I'm sure Frank will reply soon..otherwise e mail him. If you need his e mail, PM me and I'll give it to you.

Alohatee...I noticed that you live in Southern Cal. Is there anywhere nearby Harbor that I can buy rice. You know Calrose rice. I don't want to be bringing rice in my suitcase, but I will if I have too. You can PM me with the answer. Thanks!!!!

Alohatee, just to let you know that I sent you a PM. Any aditional questions, please ask. Have a nice week!

I'll PM you before the whole DIS boards follows our thread like a soap opera. I'm glad you understand our need for rice.

We just about ended the heavy cruise ship season in Mazatlan. From here on, we will get the Vision of the Seas, wednesdays for 2 more weeks and the Carnival Pride, thursdays. After the Vision of the Seas leaves, then the MAGIC comes in port   :cool1: :cool1:   . I will probably be seeing some of you here. We are excited!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I guess everyone is excited, you coming here and we, waiting for you all. I hope the Magic does well so they keep sending it over on this side! The more people coming, the more you help our economy. See you all in a few more days!

Hi Frank. We are so excited to visit Mazatlan. We are booked on the city and beach your with you on our July 2-9 cruise. We will be with DH's sister/husband/3 kids from Vancouver, Canada --- they're the ones who booked for us. I have been checking your website over and over and over...and can't get enough of it.

:cheer2:

As I have mentioned in my previous replys, I am excited also. It is always nice when other ships come to Mazatlan and see my beautiful City. I enjoy showing it around so much. I am also looking forward in meeting you and your family when you get here in July. I wish you a great time meanwhile and have a great cruise!

Mazatlan Frank

PS Thank you about the site, I was working on it yesterday.

Not many of you might know, but Mazatlan is a commercial port. The cruise ships dock in the same area the container ships dock sometimes. That is why, when you disembark, you must take a complimentary shuttle to the Passengers Terminal building. It is free and takes you back and forth every 5 minutes or less. From the ship to the building, it takes around 5 minutes. At the terminal building, you will see first about a 100 timeshare people. If you do not want timeshare, just go thru. In the building there are many shops, including an internet place, pharmacy, etc. As you exit the building, there are more shops, jewlery stores, a bar, a snack place, public phones, taxis and different tours. If you go further away, there is also a little flea market. The only thing I tell you to be careful with is Silver. Many of the vendors sell Alpaca, which is plated. If you want the real thing, go to a store. Stores in Mazatlan have the real silver. I have noticed that in Puerto Vallarta, many stores sell Alpaca, but not really in Mazatlan. Hope this information helped a little. Have fun!
