We have booked our trip for WDW for 12/8-12/15, and have paid $1,200 on it. We had a good plan on paying it off by 10/20, when the balance is due. Then we would worry with airfare around the first to mid of November.
HOWEVER, I was laid off from my job this past Monday and now we are going to be short of our Disney money goal by about $1,000. I do have a new job lined up, but it doesn't start until October 1 and I won't get my first check until October 30.
I am FREAKING OUT.
There is no way I can tell my kids that we have to cancel and I really, really don't want to cancel. I have already bought our MVMCP tickets and the girls talk about our trip constantly. PLUS, that's the weekend the new Fantasyland opens too!!!
Has anyone ever heard of Disney extending their final payment date? I'm going to call them in the morning. I did purchase the insurance, but I want to go to Disney, not get a refund!!!

They won't cancel until 30 days out. If the final payment is due on 10/20 you should have until 11/4 to fully pay it off. I would call them to just to let them know what it is going on & verify it with them first.

Call- they will probably work with you. One time I just forgot to make the final payment and they called me to say I missed it, and did I want to cancel the trip. I paid then & there and all was well.

I think they'd rather work with people than lose you altogether.

I'd call as the due date gets closer and if need be shorten the trip by a night or 2 to save money. Not sure where you live, but is flying your only option?

We are in Texas. We strongly prefer to fly since our youngest will have to go back to school for another week when we get back. A 2 hour flight vs a 15 hour drive is ssssoooooo much better, but we are willing to drive if that is the only choice.
I am going to call them in the morning, while it's still quiet in the house! LOL!

I hear ya! We live in PA and it's 18-19 hours straight thru so we always stay over night 2/3's of the way there, for safety reasons. Anyway I never thought we'd drive but it costs us half as much as flying since there are 5 of us so we've driven twice and are driving again this year!:goodvibes

That is us also. Although during our April trip my son was 17 and had his license and we were able to drive straight through with 3 drivers.

I really don't want to live in Orlando because I am afraid that it might lose its magic for me. But, I keep telling hubby to move me so I am a decent drive away.

OP, hope everything works out with your trip and new job!

I combed my closets then hit craigslist and ebay, pulled in $500 in 2 weeks getting rid of extra junk I had!

And not that I recommend taking on extra credit debt, but there is the option of getting the Disney Visa card that gives you 6 months no finance charges on paying for a trip.
