Didn't know where to put this so I thought I'd ask for help here. We got back from Disney early June. My bf bought a hoodie for himself and we didn't notice the security tag was not removed til on our drive back to Texas. I just made the trip out to the Disney Store today and unfortunately they could not help us. Went to a couple other stores and no luck. Then I called the shopping and merch line for wdw. They asked for the item number... which I don't have. The tags were removed before he noticed the security tag and I have misplaced the receipt. If anyone has this item and can relay the info to me, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

If you post a pic of the tag, someone should be able to tell you somewhere else that uses those and could remove the tag for you.

I bought Uggs online, and the store forgot to remove their sensor. Anyway, I removed it myself with plyers. It left a teeny tiny hold, but not big at all. Otherwise, I was looking at this whole big deal of sending back, etc.

Have you tried a Disney Store outlet? They sell park stuff.

The item number/sku would be on the receipt. Without the receipt, clerks would be concerned that the jacket was stolen from a store. If you find the receipt, you could make arrangements to exchange the jacket, even with the tags missing.

A friend bought something at a garage sale once with one still attached. My DH was able to look up a way to remove it on youtube, I believe it was, but if you google it you'll probably find something.

I bought a sweater at Kohl's a couple months ago and they forgot to take the sensor off...my husband just pulled the 2 pieces apart - then went on for a few hours about how strong he was :lmao:

The Disney store was unable to remove it for you?

They could not remove it. They said that they don't use the ink security tags in any of the Disney stores in San Antonio and to try some of the department stores. I went by Sears and JC Penney and neither could take them off.

There are videos on YouTube that demonstrate how to remove that particular tag. Search for "checkpoint security dye" and they come up.

I don't think we have a Disney Store outlet nearby. I'll check to confirm though.

I misplaced the receipt. That's why I was hoping someone may have bought the same hoodie recently and I'd be in luck. The CM I talked to needed either the item number or a receipt from our trip. Unfortunately I think my bf threw out the ones we did have.

I would try to just take it off myself but I'm kind of scared of ruining it since it cost quite a bit.

Thanks for the tips everyone.

if you try to take it off yourself, cover the parts of the security tag with a plastic baggie. Maybe that will help contain any ink.

did you pay by credit card? if so i would try contacting WDW and let them know what happened, using that as a proof of purchase, and see if they are able to help you in a more convenient manner, like let you ship it back for a new one w/o a censor and offer something for all the trouble.

most stores won't touch it without a receipt. i worked in stores with different types of censors and censor guns. we would take censors off items from other stores only with receipts as we did not want to help anyone shoplift (not accusing you but sadly you can not take anyone's word for it these days).

A co-worker of mine, knew someone who told her that if you place the item in the freezer for some time you can take the ink tags off without any problem. I didn't ask how they knew but it did work on someone's pants! :rolleyes1

I used to work for sears (back around 2000) and we used ones similar to this. We had a very heavy magnet that we would remove the back with.

However I too once had one left on a piece of clothing some years later. I took a seam ripper and got around it. Then sewed it back up. This looks like it would be a little more difficult with a sweatshirt. But worth a shot.

I have been told to put the items in the freezer - it works from what I have heard. Keep it in there for a few hours.
