Since much of this trip will center around the PHM weekend, I figure I may as well post some of my ups and downs of running periodically.
I have ran some 10ks and some 5ks and I did the ToT 10 miler. In training for the ToT race, I started with a C25k program (couch to 5k) Once I mastered/completed that it was on to a C210k. After I completed that I felt that it was all just a matter of continuing to run 3 days a week.
And so even while in Fl, I ran. Once back from FL, I continued to just run. I just ran and continued to improve my pace.
Last month's race I really shocked myself by moving up to a position in the front half of all finishers rather than the last half. (or as in my first 10k almost the very last person)
With 13 weeks or so left I figured that I should get a training program for a half marathon. It turned out to be an 11 week program. Perfect because then I can taper down for the last couple weeks before the phm.
It was a good plan. Then I became anemic again and my energy has been bla which made my pace suffer. Then came the wind and rain and snow and ice and again my pace suffered. I started feeling quite down about how hard it was feeling to run. Then I realized something. I was running 12 or so miles a week right before I started. Since there are more run days to this training program, and the times of the runs are increasing ever so slightly my total miles per week are up around 17 or so now. So it makes sense that I would be more sluggish considering all the factors. (more miles, anemia and weather)
Ok..so point to my ramblings?
Yesterday I was woke at 5am with a message from the emergency broadcast system. No, it wasn't a test. The day before I had also received a message. Apparently blizzard with threat to life and property was imminent.

yeah, well not really something that happened or even looked like it was going to happen.
So even though there was the warning to stay in and even though I really didn't want to go out, I did.
I bundled up and ran 6.57 miles. At times, a frozen mix was coming down side ways and I still ran. My pace was HORRID. A minute slower per mile than my "OMG, I did so well on my last race" pace. However, I was very happy with myself. I felt pretty good when I was done even.
Today I did not wake to EBS going off, but instead a phone call from the school district because school was delayed. Why? Well, we got a ton of snow! I am so glad I didn't have to run today. (it was a walk day - and maybe it is bad, but I walk up and down store isles all day so I figured I had 20 minutes covered by doing that) Tomorrow is another run day. Only 30 minutes though. I just HOPE that it doesn't pile up again tonight. I can run if there is snow on the grassy areas... but the pavement needs to be clear.(which is exactly how it looks tonight - snow on the ground but clear pavement)
Wish me luck for tomorrow. It will be a cold one!!!
