I know this is pretty minor with everything else going on - but as you can see we are about to leave for WDW and 2 children in my DD's preschool class have chicken pox!!! At any other time I'd be fine, heck I'd be taking her over to play with the little Typhoyd (sp?) Mary's; but NOT THIS WEEK! So just a little PD please, just enough so if she has to get them they show up on the flight home. Thank you.:D

I think incubation is like 10 days after exposure. I hope your dd doesn't get it. Has she not had the varicella shot yet?

No - my Dr doesn't really like it, it doesn't give you a life long immunity (you have to have boosters, even into adulthood) and if a woman contracts it during pregnancy it can do a lot of damage. So he puts off innoculating girls till after they've had it.

Oh, that makes sense. My ds had it when he was first able to take it (I'm thinking he was 3 at the time). I think he has to have his next shot when he's 14. My dd had chicken pox when she was a year and a half (my sil gave it to her-my sil was 25 yo when she got cp:o ).

I thought you can only get cp once?

Hope she doesn't get them before you go or while you're there. Our DgrD had the chicken pox several years ago. We had the WDW trip planned and she was right at the end of them when we went. In fact, the 1st day that we could go to the parks, was the 1st day she could be around people. That was close. Of course, if she could not have gone at that time, we would have just stayed around the camper until time was right.

Let me tell you my Dad's "ole time" remedy for the Chicken Pox! I had them when I was young. We lived in a tiny south AL town and they believed in all those old wives tales (especially my G'ma). We had chickens in a chicken house. He put all the chickens in the chicken house and put papers on the ground in front of the door. He was inside with the chickens and I had to lie down on the papers! He shooed the chickens out door - over me! This was "the way" to get rid of Chicken Pox in their opinion. I sure didn't like being stepped on by the chickens! A few days later he was thrilled because I was over the Chicken Pox - even as a little kid, I had a feeling that they would have gone away anyway! :p
I told our DgrD that story when she had them. I asked if she wanted to try it & she said - No Way!! Smart kid!

Looks like we'll be at WDW the same time. We check into Ft Wilderness on Sun.

Good luck with the Chicken Pox ~
