If I borrow points next year, 2005 from 2006, then in 2006, can I borrow from 2007 and so on? OR Do I have to wait until I have my points for 2007 and wait and go in 2007?:scratchin

Thanks,
Becky

You can borrow from the next use year. So you can make a reservation during your 2006 use year with 2007 points.

Yes, you can borrow. Just remember that Use Year and Calendar Year are different. It may help to make yourself a chart for planning purposes. You don't indicate your Use Year, so this is just an example.

April Use Year -- April 2004 Points are good for trips from April 1, 2004 through March 31, 2005. Also borrowed from April 2005 so those points must be used for trips ending on March 31, 2005.

April 2005 -- Points already moved to 2004

April 2006 -- Points are good for trips from April 1, 2006-March 31, 2007. Can also be banked forward or borrowed for trips between April 1, 2005-March 31, 2006.

April 2007 -- Points are good for trips from April 1, 2007-March 31, 2008. Can be banked forward or borrowed for trips from April 1, 2006-March 31, 2007.

Thanks that was what I thought. I am taking a trip this Oct with rented points. I'm also buying a small 100 point resale contract with a Feb Use Year. There are 100 points now for 2004, that haven't been used and will be banked. So I'll have 200, come Feb 2004. I'm thinking of starting off my first DVC trip with a bang and using those 200 and borrowing from Feb 2006 for a trip in the Summer of 2005. Therefore, come Feb 2006, we would only have 50-60 points left due to the borrowing.

If you have faith in the renting system here, then why buy into DVC at all? The points are rented at give away prices. Just a thought!

Think of it this way. If your contract runs until 2042 and you borrow every year, that means it will run out in 2041 instead. That gives you 37 years to add-on.;)

I wanted to buy into it while I had the money for it. I couldn't garantee that I would have and extra 1,000-,1,500 each year come 5-10 years down the road especially once my DD starts school, etc. (I can handle the maint fees each year, no problem and I know you should "save" your money --- the 401k & IRA handles that), but I wasn't certain that I would be able to do a big trip every year with cash. Now I know for sure I can go to WDW for at least a week each year. :)
