Hi, I have just booked a week at half term in May as my final year exams finish the week before and I have DVC developer points to use up and APs so we only have to pay for flights and food.:cool1:

I was wondering about the weather in May? I am hoping that it will be less humid than when we went first two weeks in September. Also is there a risk of thunderstorms like there is in September? Also what about those nasty lovebugs, are they around?

It is our first time going outside of September, not worried about crowds even though I know they will be higher with it being school holidays.

I think that's a great choice - May is my absolute fave time! :thumbsup2 Little humidity, gorgeous weather and the beautiful Flower & Garden Festival is on at Epcot... Have a wonderful time - where are you staying?

oh Flower and garden show, my DD will love that! She loves flowers and is very keen on gardening.

We are staying at SSR as we have developer points from buying at AKV which can only be used at SSR.

It's a good time to go, just starting to warm up for the summer but not quite as humid as September and not as much rainfall either.

"Lovebugs characteristically appear in excessive abundance throughout Florida as male-female pairs for only a few weeks every April-May and August-September" - apparently, must admit we have never seen them in August and hopefully won't next April either!

Then it's perfect as there are loads of activities for kids all around the World Showcase during the festival. :thumbsup2 One of our fave times this year was spent sitting outside in 'Italy', sipping a glass of delicious Rosa Regale :lovestruc and watching the travelling players perform Romeo and Juliet... Oh and another great thing about May was the Pirates & Princesses Party at MK - don't know whether they'll have them next year but you might want to keep an eye on that... :goodvibes

I really like SSR - great pool complex which will be perfect to relax by, lovely rooms and lots of greenery... As for lovebugs - I don't recall seeing any in May. Not like in October last year when they were everywhere...

All sounds great, I hope they do the parties as we enjoyed MNSSHP. :) SSR does look lovely, I can't wait to have a balcony as never had one at Disney before.:goodvibes

We have been twice in May, great time
This year was lovely hot weather..only rained towards th end of the holiday ...we returned 24th May.
Only other thing to watch is the crowds got crazy our last day as we caught the Friday before memorial day weekend.
Memorial day is May 25th 2009....I would personally avoid this. The weather turned pouring rain storms..and the queues were 2 hours plus.
Next year we are going a little earlier April 24th to May 16th.

The Pirates and Princess party was awesome...the whole evening was brilliant but especially the special fireworks.

I'm sure you will love it in May!

we were also there in May/June this year (between 12th and 4th) - the weather at that time of year is generally fantastic. We are very often there at the end of May (as we got married in Disney on 28th - so its our anniversary place!! - well thats my latest excuse anyway!!:lmao: )

We have been to florida at most times of the year (except Dec, Jan & Feb) and I would say May and Oct are my favourite months!!!

Although having said that - the day before we left this time, they announced on tv that it was 'officially' the first day of hurricane season and they were expecting the first of the tropical storms - so it seems as with weather everywhere - its changing!!

we stayed late April early May lasy year and weather was great; very little rain. For 2009 going out on 17/05. Over Memorial weekend we are staying at universal so having the FOLP should help re heavy crowds.

No as we are using developer points which can only be used at SSR. We will be staying at AKV in October though using our 08 and 09 points.
