MAY W.I.S.H. - Let's make it an aMAYzing Month

Ahem to Mother's Day being challenging. Having had a difficult relationship with my Mother and not having had any children of my own, most years it is just another Sunday. Yesterday there was a long line up at the flower stand at the grocery store and it made me happy to see Dad's and Kids picking out things for the Mothers in their lives... and as Summer has noted "mother" can take many different forms.

Self-care today is getting out to the park for a good long walk this morning. Then cleaning out the fridge and getting caught up on the getting rid of stuff challenge... all good for me stuff.

Mainstream Kid by Brandi Carlile always gets my heart pumping, altho this is the first time I've seen the "official" video and I can't say I like it very much.

My biggest accomplishment over the weekend was to not touch my phone either day. It was a good exercise, but I can see that a true detox would need to be more than two days.

As for my weight loss goal for the week, the second time I got on the scale it was up from the first time, but made more sense compared to how I feel so I'm using that as my true starting point. This morning I was down -2, so yah!

Happy Belated Mothers Day to everyone here!! If you are a mother to humans, fur pets or both or celebrated a mother or mother figure in your life I hope you enjoyed the day!!

@Summer2018 thank you for everything you do for your precious students!!

Self care Sunday was caring for my soul yesterday…spent time with most of the moms in my life…spent time with all my kids and squeezed in a good 2 mile walk when the clouds broke in the afternoon!

After splurging this weekend I am moving it for sure this Monday! Did a 30 mins upper body workout before work and just did a 30 minute walk on my lunch break!

Happy Mother's Day. Yesterday was filled with travel. We went 30 minutes north to see DH's grandma who he lived with for a good portion of his life (with his mom), then 1-1.5 hours south to DH's mom and then 45 mins north to my mom and then about 20 minutes home. It just makes for a long day and not much time to spend with each of them. Next year we are splitting it up between Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday we got to hang out with our friends and I got some snuggle time in with the babies. They are getting so big. The little one has caught in size with her sister. They were a bit crabby Saturday so it was nice to take care of the babies while they ate dinner. We ate before we got there.

Last week was a heck of a week. DD had a rough day on Tuesday. Which always makes me have rough days. Then she sprained her ankle. I am way to get her for her orto appointment a rock hit my windshield while I was on the highway. I now have to get a new windshield. Then we were back at the ortho on Friday because the boot DD was wearing was causing more pain. Boot is several years old. We got a new one but she is still in a lot of pain. The next option is a cast so DD is trying to just suck it up right now. it just needs to heal some and she will start to feel better. It was just one of those weeks. I am hoping for a much better week this week.

I don't really listen to music while I work out. I need a good TV show to suck me in to forget that I am working out.

topic Tuesday

I have mentioned my love for hiding veggies (black beans, chickpeas, zucchini) in baked goods. So that is kind of our topic for the day, what is your healthy hack? How do you make something indulgent a little healthier? Binge watching youtube on the treadmill? Playing video games on the excersize bike? <--that was my college jam, I played a lot of final fantasy 7 on my mom's bike pedaling away to Midgar (if you know, you know). I'll share another from when I was pregnant with DS9...when I was craving a frozen cocktail not only did I make it virgin but I upped it. Pina colada mix (sans booze)+ice+coconut water+SPINACH. It was amazing! I felt like I was splurging but I was getting veggies so win win.

So let's see them...what is your favorite healthy hack?

For food hacks I use Greek pitas as the crust for personal sized pizzas, and I use a mango chipotle sauce since I can't use tomato. Making my own pizza I can control what goes on them and am very light on the cheese, just enough to stick everything together.

I love caprese salad and actually have a Pinterest board called "Oh my Caprese" to collect ideas on different ways to put them together. Now I make them with other fruits, stone fruit like peaches is the best and I can't wait until peaches come in to season this summer.

I don't have any exercise hacks, but I'm going to try Summer's idea to watch WDW walking videos on YouTube, and see if that keeps me going.

A couple of years ago, I bought a Nutribullet at my DD’s insistence. Neither of us have a savory pallet, and we really don’t like vegetables. So along with delicious frozen blueberries, raspberries, and pineapple juice we add spinach and any other veggies that we want to eat but don’t want to taste.

For dessert, I make No Pudge brownies with Stonyfield Farm vanilla yogurt with Ghiradelli 60% cacoa dark chocolate chips. I also make Bob’s Red Mill chocolate chip cookies. They are a healthier version and absolutely delicious.

Funny memory: I have always been a fussy eater and spent many hours as a child staring at my plate, using every trick to avoid eating vegetables. Once my mother bought french fries with peas “hidden” inside. They were nasty!!! None of her hacks worked on me. Then I had a daughter just like me.

Woowhoo Wednesday

For this week I would like to change things up a tiny bit...or rather add to our typical woowhoo! Let's celebrate our victories small and large AND do some laws of attraction work. Let's manifest friends...woowhoo something you want in your future. Six months, next week, next year. Woowhoo as if you already have it and then work with the universe to make it happen.

Weight has been creeping up too slowly to notice, so I would like to manifest shedding 10 pounds. :wave2:

So far, I remembered to buy carrots yesterday, in hopes of changing my snacking habits, and I will pre-WooHoo my clothes fitting a lot better in the fall! 🍁🍂 - I'm picturing myself in a couple of fashionable new tops, that I know are just out there waiting for me. :thumbsup2

Weds June 15... woohoo I flew out to Maryland yesterday for my work trip and I have to say I feel great! I dropped enough weight to get comfortably into my fancy linen pants and I've been so diligent about getting my steps in that being on my feet and moving around the facility the next two days is going to be a breeze... and I don't have to worry about coughing because allergies are totally under control!

Weds July 27... woohoo the trip to Walla Walla is next week! I'm feeling great and have lost enough weight to wear my nice linen dresses, which will be great in the heat. Really looking forward to doing a lot of walking, checking out museums and doing all sorts of touristy things.

Weds November 30... woohoo I leave for WDW on Friday for my do-over trip! I've worked really hard at getting ready this time and I feel great. I'm down two sizes from where I was for the March trip and got some really cute clothes. I've been walking a lot and my legs and feet are in great shape, and I'm ready to roll!

I am manifesting losing 60 more pounds. In 2023, I will ring in the new year with a shopping spree for new clothes fitting my new body.

Woo Hoo! We had an early dismissal for teacher's workshop which turned out to be teacher's choice, so I caught up on my tremendous amount of paperwork and still got home a few minutes earlier than a normal school day.
