May vs September Question

We have never been to Universal and I was thinking of planning a trip either the 2nd week in May or the week following Labor Day week and trying to decide if EP is needed. Could someone please give me any information between the 2 months on wait times, weather, crowds, and park hours and if EP is needed. Thanks so much.

After labor day is a lot less crowded and express pass really isn't necessary for most people ( we are spoiled and like it even in lower crowds) .The weather is really hot and really humid. Park hours might be shorter than May not sure
