My May goals:

To have a fabulous week at Disney, where I am able to do all the things! That means dropping a few more pounds before I go, plus sticking to eating gluten and dairy free and staying away from the foods I am sensitive to.

Thankful for another sunny Spring day.

Thankful that I do enjoy my commute as much as I thought I would.

Finally got new batteries for my scale and now I'm thankful that my weight is basically what I thought it would be... still much too heavy tho. I want to drop two or three pounds before I leave, just for better comfort.

Work and home have been pretty busy lately. I ended up working 2.5 over on Wednesday so I do get to leave early today. We are about a month into our busy time at work and with taking over more in the fall it is even crazier for me. I have read close to if not more than 300 applications/essays. We are knee deep into selecting students for scholarships and then for our traditional students they come in over the summer so we can go over everything. So we will stay pretty busy until about the end of June or the beginning of July. Then we start to slow down some and by mid September we really slow and are able to start getting ready for the next year.

Home has been busy with end of school things and will just get busy as we go through May since DD is graduating. She seems to be doing better as well. DS is still very stressed out to the point little things are making it worse. Just the talk about getting a new house and moving was worrying him. Once he told us that we reassured him that we are going to build and we haven't even decided on a house/builder yet and we won't even be doing that until fall or spring he felt better. Next week is finals and that is not helping.

This weekend will be quiet with not much to do. I am hoping to get some stuff around the house done.

Big plans for the weekend...

My Neice is coming to town Saturday to get her hair done (she recommended the gal I'm going to) and my sister is with her so we're going to dinner afterwards. We're going to the pizza place that has the super yummy Fig-Prosciutto-Balsamic pizza that I love but guess who's going to get a salad.

Sunday, I get my hair done and as already mentioned I am very excited about this. In addition to getting all Meg Ryan'd up with the cut I'm getting low lights put it so I can look all chic (and hopefully younger) for vacation.

DH and I have two weddings coming up in July and September, and he wants to start the process of finding a suit for him today. I need to pick up odds and ends for my Ocean theme at school. We will be building a boat out of cardboard for my Dramatic Play Center. With all of the end of the year assessments and paperwork, I want to make sure I keep it fun in my kindergarten. We've been practicing our songs for graduation, and it makes me sad to say, "Goodbye" to these students. I will not miss some of these difficult parents though. They make my job so hard.

Since I basically have an empty nest, I'm applying for a summer camp job on Tuesday. Last summer, I was pretty bored, and with prices on everything going up soon, I want the extra income to help make ends meet. It seems ridiculous for a 60 year-old professional at the top of her career to be worrying about money, but it is what it is. As long as I'm physically able to work, I will.

These folks are my motivation this week!

I have Mon/Tues in the office then it is vacation time! I have misc appointments and things to finish up then head to the airport Saturday morning... can't believe it is finally here.

Topic Tuesday -

Do you find you do better with your healthy life goals when you have some sort of "marker" coming up (like a vacation, academic year transition, etc.) or does it derail you instead?

Woohoo it's Friday!

I do better with a marker, like vacation, but get easily derailed when said event has passed.

Saturday when I was eating with my Niece and Sister I let down my guard and did have a skinny piece of pizza but I'm actually glad I did because I had a wicked headache the next morning. That tells me I can't fudge at all on the gluten while on vacation. I tested dairy on Sunday, and it did bring up a little bit of cough, so I'll have to manage that as well but some now and then will be OK. I've been looking at menus and booked a late breakfast at the Creperie in France because the crepes are made of buckwheat and naturally gluten free. I also booked Brown Derby because that menu seemed to fit OK and I love the decor and vibe. Over the weekend I also booked some LLSP and a LLMP for MK, I'm still on the fence about booking LLMP for DHS. I'm getting so excited!

I tend to better when I don't have things going on. Being busy getting ready for a vacation or an event is more likely to distract me from healthy routines than inspire me to set goals.
