May reschedule trip.... if there is availability once 7 mo opens... worried

So... watching everything and trying to figure out what to do... trip is July 25 for 7 nights. With the new announcement of college program being shut down etc I am getting increasingly more worried about the trip. My 7 month booking opens April 21... we would have to go over Thanksgiving due to school calendar etc. and I am very worried that my april 21 there wont be any availability .. oh well, guess just have to wait and see. To complicate things more I need a 2 bed and studio for our group and we all already have tickets!

I moved the points that I was going to use for a May trip to Aulani (three studios) to extend my November trip and upgrade accommodations to use the points (studio to one bedroom for half the nights). I booked at my home resort though, so I didn't have to wait, I just did it about 10 days ago. Thankfully, one bedrooms were still plentiful at BCV and we are going before Thanksgiving. I moved the points that I was going to use for a May trip to Aulani (three studios) to extend my November trip and upgrade accommodations to use the points (studio to one bedroom for half the nights). I booked at my home resort though, so I didn't have to wait, I just did it about 10 days ago. Thankfully, one bedrooms were still plentiful at BCV and we are going before Thanksgiving. Good luck!!!!

sounds like a good plan... my cousin whose family is going with me really wants try for july trip... I will keep watching until my 7 month window and try make decision...

It is hard!! Originally my husband suggested booking for September, because I am meeting him at the tail end of a conference in Orlando, but I felt more comfortable just extending the November trip and upgrading a couple days to a one bedroom. I have so many points in my Feb 2021 UY right now, between banked points from 2020 and actual 2021 UY points... Next year is going to be really interesting to figure out, if I have to cancel this November trip and bank more I really don't know what I am going to do.

I just banked the rest of our 2020 points and now I have a lot. It is a good problem to have. I just hope things will be good next winter and there isn't a return of this virus. I want to reserve something at my home resort since it is sounding like there may be issues with availability.

We had a June reservation and we canceled. We rebooked the same week as a cash reservation since I would be surprised if they are reopened by then. It is not ideal but it is the only way we can see to not risk our points. We will end up banking our points and using them next year. We are considering a December trip as well but there is no availability already.

good plan! Well... I have 194 points I have to use by May 31 2021.. so I have some time to figure it out.. even if we have to move trip to 2021 with my cousins family my family can use the points doing something.... so it will work out one way or another... I feel so sorry for all of the people losing points. so horrible.

I've been checking daily the resort availability- if you are okay with Saratoga Springs- they have had availability consistently. (I know it can change from now until then but just wanted to give you a heads up to keep that resort in mind.) Good Luck!

I have been watching.. my home resort is akv and is where we are booked now... my cousin really wants wait and see if we can still go in july.... if we have to move to tg it will be at SSR most likely.. I am not in love with SSR... so we will see... I personally think it be better to go over tg... safer etc. who knows

wow... I don't blame you.... at least you have more time to make a decision... we are in a decent position... I feel so bad for all of the others that are not so fortunate.

I'm in a similar situation. I have a late August trip scheduled at BWV, but I have an April 30th deadline to bank points. Hope to hear something one way or another in the next few weeks.
