But our "plan" is very similar to your 2008 itinerary, except catching an earlier train back, probably 6 ish.

When we went in 2008 all people that had done the trip before did San Pietro first and returned via Termini. We thought we were being smart and would be closer to port by going the opposite direction. Well the reality is it is rush hour. The San Pietro stop had mostly regional trains. The trains were full as in no seats for quite a few stops. My kids are 19 and 21 and they won't be thrilled standing at end of long day for 45 minutes. If you have little ones stick to trains where you can reserve a seat or at least board an empty train so that you can get a seat. Make sure you look at travel times they can be anywhere from 40 minutes to over hour and a half and they do have a tendency to run a little late. I know the train leaving Civitavecchia left very late as they held the train to allow more cruise passengers time to buy tickets and board.

After more research I think we will just hold off and by our BIRG ticket at the newstand behind McDonalds. The cost will be 10 euros each for all transport. Train, Metro and bus for the day. That is a couple more euros than 2008 but will still save the family several gelatos each.:woohoo: I just can't believe they will sell out the regional trains used by commuters.

:cool1:where is 8502 and does it have a clear see thru balcony. I'm thinking it is a white wall..... no please no....

8502 is a Category 4! Front of the ship, starboard side. I didn't think any of the Cat 4's had solid white walls? Or at least not in the front of the ship... When I look at the deckplans at WDWinfo.com, 8502 doesn't have an asterisk, (I was told asterisks means the white walls).

Maybe someone who is certain can tell you.

Congrats if that was an upgrade!

Oh Gosh, here's the review of our room :sad2:

This room cured me from wanting to sail again! It was so unbelievably noisy every morning that we were going to be docking somewhere - and this usually started around 4am. The entire room would shake and vibrate for a good half hour or more. I compare it to sitting on top of a giant washing machine with an uneven load that is running the spin cycle. I don't see how anyone could sleep through this, or fall back asleep at 5am when the mess was over. between the shaking and the noise, I am just glad my 4 year old sleeps like she's in a coma because had she ever been awakened by this I think she would have freaked out.

Yikes! At 6am I wouldn't mind but 4 AM??????/ :sad2:

Let us know how you'd like to collect $$ for it. On the last cruise we donated $$ through Paypal.

Thank you for the suggestion about a $$ donation.

I will get information about the lanyards in a little while. I have one of my cats in the hospital so I'm focusing on him. (OK the Dis board is a nice distraction)

If anyone has ideas about the lanyards (likes/dislikes) let me know:)

Have a great trip!

We are. Maybe those interested in taking the train on our own to Rome can all meet at, say 7:30 am, in front of Lumiere's and head out together? We have a tour booked at Vatican in the afternoon but other than that, our day is wide open. Probably hitting the Colosseum and Forum in the morning.

We did this on our last cruise and the lanyard does stand out. The lady that organized it put our Disname and our actual name so it was easier for people to connect who's who. She handed them out at the terminal and also at the Dismeet.

I'm up for both the name tag/ lanyards and meeting and doing the Rome train together.

For anyone interested in what a Cat 10-11 inside cabin looks like, here's a video from our Disney Wonder trip

After a 4.5 hour drive we're in south Alabama (Dothan). Will drive rest of the way to Orlando, FL tomorrow.

I'm a big fan of Paypal actually. I don't think the cost will be that great so what I'll do later is let whomever wants to donate a little do so through Paypal. I'll order the lanyards and name tag holders.

Ebony: Thank you! Yes, that's exactly what I had in mind for the coordinator - find out who needs them, how many and what name to put on them. I'd suggest the DIS posting name (or spouses or whichever family member(s) are posting on the thread) and then first name. As someone else mentioned, we'd then hand them out during a meet & greet on Embarkation day, probably somewhere like Promenade Lounge before the mandatory lifeboat drill.

We also need a name tag design. Doesn't need to be too complex, otherwise it'll take a lot of printer ink. We can work the printing later. Could be a variation of what tripodjw has already created or something new. I'm not a photoshop wizard like some of you.

I'm not on the boards as much as I would like, but my husband and I would love to be part of some of the meets, wine events, lanyards, group tours, etc. I noticed Jeff had put together a great web page for the cruise. Are any of these posted on the web page for easy updates?

Hi Felicia,

Thanks for the kind comments on the web page.

Are you asking if I can update your Roll Call info with the additional information above? If so, absolutely, it's very easy for me to do, I just need to find some free time tomorrow to do it. If you have any suggestions of other things to add, let me know. :)

Jeff had previously suggested using one of my designs on the lanyards. I'm happy for that - i also have two simpler disigns on the other computer whihc may be more suitable for lanyards. I'll post them up later.

If moneyhappy is coordinating buying the lanyards and organising the list - i am happy to make up the disigns with the names and then can just forward the electronic files to moneyhappy to be printed and inserted into the lanyards.

As to suggestions on the lanyards - if it is possible to buy lime green this would be my preference - lime green is the "offical" colour of the Disboards.

I think auntlynne on the 24 April Med is organising lanyards for them so it might be worth dropping her a PM to ask where she is buying from etc.

I'm happy to either pay by paypal ahead of time or in cash (dollars or euros) onboard.

Forgot to say we are in room 5005, not too bad reviews but might see about upgrades at the port. Does anyone know if they give them to you cheaper then or is it the same price as normal?

We are up for the crawl and lanyards...:thumbsup2

These are the additional two (simple disigns). I would suggest we use a simple design to make the name visible (i think the cruise logo designs are too complex for credit card sized lanyards).

I can edit to insert name and/or Dis-name once a list is finalised. It is dead simple to do a repeating version and just edit the name on each.

As mentioned above i would prefer to forward the electronic copies of the designs to whomever buys the lanyards for them to print and insert into the
lanyards (saves the need to coordinate this onboard)

Original disigns are in this post http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=35664455&postcount=853 and also on the website.

Simple ones are below:

Hi all, I need some help on Tunisia not really sure what to do, I don’t really fancy any of the Disney excursions, so i was just wondering what everyone was up to that isn’t doing a planed trips. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Also someone earlier on in this thread suggested doing Rome on the train as a group is anyone still up for this?

We are interested in travelling in to Rome as a group as well.

I appreciate everyone's offers to pitch in on the lanyards. To me, it looks like ebony (Jan) was the first to volunteer to be the coordinator so ebony it is. Jan, if you'd like some help it looks like moneyhappy is willing. :)

Lime green sounds good to me - it would definitely stand out. As for auntlynne, I contacted her last week...as it turns out, we're neighbors. She lives in Huntsville, Al and I live in Madison, which is a suburb of Huntsville. It really is a small world. She's given me all the info on the lanyard supplier, how she's printing the name cards out and constructing them and she's also sending me one in the mail.

This sounds good to me as well. Would probably print up some blank ones too so we could write in names for late additions.

I've read some reviews and the BIRG ticket seems like the way to go. I'll start a list tonight of those interested in doing Rome together or at least heading out on the train together. Anyone planning to do the Vatican, Jeff posted the link on the website of buying advance tickets so you don't have to wait in line. It's highly recommended. We booked the 2:30 pm tour.

Yes, I was wondering what a "crawl" is too? Also what time are we going to have the dismeet on Sunday afternoon? Thanks!

Oooh! A crawl sounds fun. :goodvibes

A crawl is a tour from cabin to cabin to see what the different cabins look like. I've heard it more often in terms of "pub crawl". ;)

So has anyone heard anything from the Novotel in Barcelona? Did they open as expected? I still have my ressie...guess I could email them but I'm lazy. :rotfl2:

Hello all,

My husband and I will be on this cruise with our teen son & daughter (18 & 17) and are looking forward to meeting many of you.

We have reserved private driver/tours in Naples and Rome and are looking for any couples or families of 3 or 4 who might like to join us. The company is Driver in Rome (driverinrome.com) is very highly rated and the tours are CVT02 Exclusive Best of Rome (all the major sites - 9hrs) and NAP01 Pompeii-Sorrento-Positano- Amalfi Coast (also 9hrs) We got a special rate, so it will be around 200 euro for a couple or 300 euro for 4 for each of these.

We are a very well behaved group ;) (hubby works for Disney here in Orlando) and this trip is to celebrate our two great kids who are graduating from high school and going off to college in the fall.

Please PM me if you are interested in joining us.
If there is a better place to post this type of thing, I would be happy to be informed. I am a forum posting newbie.

Happy Planning!
Kim
