We booked Nov 30th and still haven't been upgraded yet... still 12 GTY! Starting to agree with the dartboard theory!

I booked in January. My last name begins with "A" and still no room assigned. Only the 12 GTY :worried:

Interesting note - for about a week now you could not book any stateroom other then one with of the veranda categories. I checked the DCL website, Expedia, Orbitz, etc. I was thinking that all the other categories (other then 7 or lower) were booked.

Well I'll be, we booked on board last spring and had a selected room. Just looked now for fun and see we were upgraded to a full veranda - did not expect we would be eligible since we pre selected our room.

Dec 19th, first time DCL, but cruised other lines. I'm not seeing a pattern yet. :confused3

Sayhello

We booked January 31st...1st time DCL (or any cruise for that matter).
No room yet :confused3

Congratulations to all the great upgrades!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

AlohaJoe, did you get the PM I sent you?

Sayhello

Did anyone receive an upgrade that did not book direct with Disney? Trying to determine if they start with those they didn't have to pay commission on. Dartboard still the best theory sor far.

Something for the dart board

Books Nov 1, 08 through DVC been on other DCL cruises and already have a reservation for the Disney dream (cat 8)

Booked a second room through DCL on the same date for first time DCL cruisers then linked the reservations. (cat 10)

I picked the rooms.,

Last name start with C

No upgrades at this point :sad1:

We booked through Travelocity

I booked through DU. Booked on 11/26. I think my reservation was done though with the linked ressies (Jill, Sayhello, Jeff and I) since we all got rooms right next to each other.

OK new theory. It goes by total revenue of the reservation. Several of you got great upgrades for 2 and 3 rooms. Our reservation was for 2 rooms and we were upgraded. The person with a 1 room GTY for level 10 might have been less revenue than 4 people in two rooms at level 12. Maybe. Any single room with no linking of reservations get upgraded to level 8 or higher?

Maybe I should stick to Sodoku it makes more sense.

Problem with that theory is that before we met on this cruise thread and decided to link reservations so that we could dine together, JediJill, sayhello, sarahgirl and my family's reservations were totally separate. On the other hand, a Cast Member assigning staterooms might not be able to tell that. It will be really interesting to see what happens to Blake (2BNDisney).

Exactly! We are just one big happy family. With way too much verandah space-- party in Jill's verandah!

 at least Sodoku uses logic

But I think revenue maybe the key. Not only room, but maybe other revenue (Palo reservations, Spa treatments, Excursions, etc) How may of the people that got upgrades book stuff online?

I booked 2 excursions and Palo dinner.

For us:

Spa treatments - 0 (so far)
DCL Excursions - 1 for 4 people (doing mostly private tours)
Palo dinner - 1 (whopping $15 upcharge/person)

Now sayhello is doing the Adventures by Disney add-on so maybe we're riding on her coat tails! I can live with that. :cool1:
