Hello everyone! We are going on this cruise!:cool1: This will be our first time in Europe, 8th time in Disney Cruise. All "tips" will be appreciated! We are planning to visit Paris after the cruise, I need hotel... Any suggestions??? Also, I already "pre-booked" the shore excursions, since it is our first time we don't want to miss anything!!! We want to be included in the FE List. :woohoo:

Looking forward to our super vacations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi andgon! We will be staying in Paris after the cruise too! I highly recommend getting the Rick Steves Paris 2010 book ($12 on Amazon). He has a good list of hotels in Paris that are moderately priced and are not trash holes. We are booked at Hotel Relais Bosquet in the Rue Cler neighborhood in the 7th arondissement. They are including free breakfast every morning because I mentioned the Rick Steves book (that alone paid for the book). The Rue Cler neighborhood is within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower, and the neighborhood itself is a destination. I looked at a lot of hotels before making our decision, and did a lot of research on Trip Advisor. A word of warning - the good places are booking fast, so make your decision soon.

Ok - you had me curious so I checked my reservation - under my gty. was an upgrade offer for only $313.56 per person per day for a total of $6, 563.83:eek::eek: or something like that. The amount scared me to death so I closed the window. I just wanted to be sure I didn't purchase it as I know they have my credit card number. The next thing that popped up was a heading that said there had been an error in the transaction and I would have to redo or call to complete the transaction - no thank you! I'll stay where I'm at. Anyway seems like they are starting on our cruise. Here's hoping there are some "free upgrades" for the ones that want them. I'm just excited to be going to the Med.:cool1::cool1:

Isn't it just the best thing in the world? I'd worn glasses (pretty heavy-duty ones) since I was in the fifth grade, and contacts for well over 20 years. I had Lasik done 4 years ago, and am still giddily happy about it! I went to see "The Aviator" at the theatre a couple of days after the surgery, and was blown out of my seat by how very *CLEAR* everything looked! Amazing!

Sayhello

Hubby LOVES his lasik. We went to WDW in December for the first time without his glasses, and it was such a liberating experience for him.

Do you think they put all the Cat 12 cabins together so they can corral all of us wild and crazy singles in one area? :rotfl:

Jill

Actually all the CAT 12s are together in level 2 forward. But truthfully I would be very surprised if we all got them. I think many of them are going to be taken by staff members/entertainers who are onboard for the European cruises. I have actually never stayed in a cat 12, only 11 and 10s. I just didnt want you to get all depressed and think you were going to be lonely in a cat 12 by yourself.:goodvibes

You are sweet for not leaving me alone down there! I've always had an 11 so anything higher than that will be a really big suprise. Actually, I like the Cat 11. Much bigger than my inside cabin on RCI. Someday I'll be able to see the ocean from my cabin. ;)

Oh wow...see where someone on the 5th was upgraded from a Cat 10 inside to a Cat. 5 with verandah!

The May 5th cruise does seem awfully empty tho so i suspect they will get some pretty good upgrades. Our sailing seems a lot more full then theirs so there's a lot less rooms available for upgrading into .

Guess we'll start to hear towards the end of next week.

For those wondering about the British Airways (BA) strike. There is currently scheduled a 3 day strike this weekend and a 4 day strike the weekend after.

They have promised not to strike over Easter. If the union is not happy by April 14th then they have said they will consider more strikes. It is certainly possible that more strikes will be called during May as it is the start of summer vacation travel and therefore causes maximum disruption.

The issue has been going on for at least 6 months, and originally the strikes were planned for 12 days over Xmas and New Year (they only didn't go ahead because BA took the issue to court on the basis the union included ex-employees in the ballot on strike action). Neither side seems close to agreeing to the demands of the other so i'm expecting this one to run for a while yet.

BA are running approx 60% of their flights during the strike period as only certain cabin crew are on strike. Short haul (so internal UK and European flights (e.g. UK-Spain) seem to be the least affected.

The wrinkle seems to be that the union is getting the unions in other countries involved, so it looks like even if BA runs flights to the US, the US baggage handlers will stand in solidarity with the BA strikers.

As to the insurance, it seems that providing you bought insurance prior to the ballot being called (whihc i think was Feb 18th) then you will be covered. If you bought insurance after then, then the likeliood of a strike was indeed a "known condition" and not covered.

I know i'm stuck in an awkward position, i have an annual travel insurance policy that renews automatically. The current one expires on May 16th. SO my flight to Barcelona is covered, but the flight back is under the auto-renewed policy and i think they'll try and wriggle out of dealing with the return flight if there turns out to be a strike in late May.

The whole BA thing is a mess and needs some heads banging together. (IMHO both sides are to blame and neither have the moral high ground).

Oh...i wish!! Just wondering if anyone on here has booked with Virgin holidays? We have and are really not impressed with the service we have had so far...

yes Natalie we booked with virgin and the after sales has been horrendous it's practically impossible to get hold of them, I have called them 5 times and been put on hold for 30 Minutes each time on a premium rate phone number so i bombarded them with email asking them to call me but they didn’t all I got back was a email, we wanted to bring r flights forward on the return journey by 4 hours and they quoted us £450:confused:

We have had the same...it's cost us a fortune to get hold of them. We were told that our transfers were included but when the paper work came it said they weren't. We send loads of emails and finally someone got back to us to say they were, but we are still waiting for the details. So now i have to chase them again....Would never book with them again. You must be on the same flight home then....it's quite late isn't it. Do you know if we are allowed to stay on ship???:confused3
