Oh I also meant to ask if anyone knows what time approx the ship sails from Barcelona.

We left at 10 pm in 2007. Guests were required to be on board by 4 pm for the mandatory drill at 5 pm and then back on board by 9 pm for the 10 pm departure. In the booklet we received before this cruise, it says all guests are required to be on board by 1 hour 30 minutes prior to departure but does not list a departure time. In 2007 our first port was Palermo. In 2010 it's Valletta Malta, which is almost 200 miles further south so we may be leaving the Barcelona earlier.

Update: Found this post in the 4/24/10 thread. It appears we're leaving the port at 9:30 pm.

Thank you for your interest in a Disney Cruise Line vacation! I am happy to assist you. Disney Cruise Line representatives and stevedores are at the terminal to meet and greet Guests, assist with their luggage, and check-in from 10:00am to 4:00pm. All Guests need to complete check-in by 4:00pm. Any Guests arriving after 4:00pm will need to complete the check-in process onboard.

Here is additional information regarding the check-in process:
*Guests pass through security check point with x-ray as they enter the building.
*Check-in for the cruise begins at 10:30am.
*Guests are greeted by a Disney Cruise Line representative and directed to the appropriate check-in station.
*Only one member of the party needs to go the check-in station with all of the required documentation to receive Key to the World Cards for eachfamily member.
*Embarkation begins at approximately 1:00pm and the Lifeboat Drill is at5:00pm.
*All Guests onboard by 9:30pm for the ship departure at 9:30pm.
*Guests may leave and return to/from the ship at any time as long as they are onboard by the scheduled Onboard time.*Guests board by group (i.e. Concierge, Castaway Club) or by boarding pass number. *Guests board the ship on Deck 3.
*Your luggage will be delivered to your stateroom prior to 6:30pm. While you are waiting to embark the ship, they can take advantage of duty free shopping, character photo opportunities, and pre-register children into Youth Activities.

The Port of Barcelona terminal address is:
Portal de la Pau, 6
Moll Adossat. Terminal 'C'
Barcelona 08039
Spain

Due to the high congestion of traffic, it is strongly recommended that Guests take advantage of the transportation services offered by Disney Cruise Line. The Port of Barcelona is approximately 30-40 minutes from the Barcelona International Airport and 20-30 minutes from Barcelona hotels offered inthe pre- and post-packages. Time varies based on traffic.

There is no parking at the terminal, but parking is available at the nearby World Trade Center. Parking and a shuttle service is available to take Guests to Terminal C. Pier parking is approximately €12/$18.00 USD per day. Please be aware, price is subject to change without notice Designated parking areas for Guests with disabilities are available. A valid disability parking permit is required.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to sailing with you!

Have a Magical Day!

Also found this info from DCL on the 4/24/10 thread. The difference from what we speculated before is that Pirate night will be on Night 8 versus Night 9 like it was in 2007.

Night 2 Formal
Night 7 Semi Formal
Night 8 Pirate
Night 10 Semi Formal

Tripodjw, perhaps we could put some of the DCL confirmed info on your initial post as kind of a FAQ?

I have a question regarding excursions. If/when you book an excursion through Disney do you have to pay in full upon booking?

Done. Good idea Jeff. :thumbsup2

How is everyone doing booking their DCL shore excursions? Are you getting your first choices? I can't book until March 1 and I'm a little obsessive. :rolleyes1

The way I read the check-in part is that the cruise terminal (Terminal C) opens at 10:00 am, i.e., they start letting people in the building to start processing the paperwork, etc.. The email indicates the check-in processing starts at 10:30 am but my experience is that they start the check-in processing as soon as they let people in. Now, regarding the embarkation process starting "approximately at 1 pm", it's been our experience on all of our Disney cruises that the boarding process starts earlier. In 2007 I know they started boarding before noon though guests couldn't go to their staterooms prior to 1:30.

abdmom:

We only booked one DCL tour but it looked like there was availability for most all of the tours. Is there particular tours you'd like me to check?

Jeff,

Thanks for offering. Can you check availability for Perfumer's Apprentice in Villefranche, Tortoise Protection Center in Corsica and Lerici's Castle and Dinosaurs in Spezia.

Many Thanks

Looking at page 1, it looks like there are 4 in your party - same as us so that's what I assumed.

Good news. :)

Perfumer's Apprentice - 1:30 to 5:30 pm is available.

Tortoise Protection Center - There are two tours offered. The first at 8:45 am to 12:15 pm is available...the one at 12:30 to 4 pm is not.

Lerici's Castle and Dinosaurs - The one tour from 8:15 am to 1:15 pm is available.

 I'll have to make a note to pack a change of clothes with us! Thanks for the info Jeff.

Disney gets most bags to the staterooms by 4 pm so guests can clear them out of the hallways prior to the 5 pm lifeboat drill. I would expect only late arrivers wouldn't yet have their bags prior to first seating dinner.

Quite -it's bad enough waddling around in the lifejackets as it is without having to navigate around luggage. (For those 1st time cruisers - the life jackets stick out from your front quite a way (especially for women if you catch my drift) - they are huge! plus they're not inflatable type they are made out of solid flotation materials)

ALways fun seeing everyone in the life jackets though

I don't know about now but they did on our last cruise (Mexican Riviera).

We are booked! Hello, it's Matt and Theresa (Theresa doing the talking) from Dallas. We are in our 40's and without children. We have been married almost 22 years, and we will be celebrating both our anniversary and Matt's birthday onboard. We actually set sail on his birthday! We cruise very often with Celebrity, and this will be our third Disney cruise (but big DVC fans!). We have never sailed the Med, so we are excited about this itinerary.

Look forward to getting to know everyone!

You have to move your luggage from the hallway into your cabin yourself? All the cruises I've been on previously (RCCL and Princess) they were placed inside our cabins! (By the cabin stewards, I always assumed, but I could be wrong). I'm not sure I like that! If I'm at dinner, those suitcases could be sitting out there for a long time!

Sayhello
