Welsh Girl - you are awesome! For our dates it ended up being 119 euros, which is still a great deal for a nice hotel in the center of town! Funny thing was I just checked Travelzoo this morning and didn't see this deal... they must have updated the website this afternoon. Thanks again!

not sure where you will be flying in from but since we are coming in from the states, the jet lag is enough for me to get in early. We are arriving on Thursday morning and can rest and tour barcelona for 2 days and aclimate to the time zone.
I have some more interesting news that many of you already probably know. We received a $100/person ship board credit for booking before nov 09. Apparently disney was supposed to send a letter notifing us of the credit but it was never sent. I called today and confirmed that in addition to $200 per cabin for booking when we were on board the last disney cruise, we got an additional $400 total in credit for the 4 people in our cabin. SWEEEEEET! If you booked before late Nov 09, you may want to check with disney or your TA. Great news today for us!!:dance3:

glad you got the credit, :thumbsup2 saw and took part in the discussion on the other thread. boy is it confusing as to who is elegible and who isn't wrt the transatlantics.

Hi all

Can anyone advise if Disney offer a spa package that allows you to use the steam room and sauna for the duration off your cruise. If so how much.

Regards
joanne

I was just popping through the general message boards and saw the comments from our friends overseas praising disney for the early booking OBC. I had not heard a thing about it so I called disney. The lady on the phone was clearly concerned about saying the wrong thing since I am sure they have been flooded with calls. She stated that the credit was placed on our account but they didn't send out the letter.:confused3 Did anyone else on the board get a letter regarding this?

I believe there is a "rainforest" pass that can be purchased for this very thing. Ill check on the site to see.

We are flying from Miami and decided to fly in a day early. It ended up being cheaper anyway. Now the only thing left is to buy insurance. I looked last night but there are so many choices and not sure what we really need.

I got the letter but am one who go it this week - being n the UK.

I do know a number of US Disers got the same letter before Christmas, so as far as i am aware everyone who is elegible should have had a letter.

I bet your letter just went missing in the post.

No problem!! Glad you got it sorted...

We booked in mid December so I guess we don't qualify for the Disney credit. We are getting $250/stateroom from Dreams Unlimited Travel though.

Changing subjects, someone remind me what was decided in terms of a DIS Forum get-together at the beginning of the cruise.

Nothing has been decided for sure. A suggestion was for sometime on the afternoon of the first sea day in one of the bars/lounges. Welcome to further ideas if you have any Jeff.

An adult only evening pub meet had also been mentioned (at the time virtually everyone on this meet thread was over-18 )

In response to the on board credit we booked our cruise last fall but transferred itineraries to the med on Christmas Eve. I sent an email just now to confirm - I'll let you know what they say.

In 2007, we had a meet on Embarkation day at the sit down restaurant that was open (Parrot Cay) at 1:30 pm. Most people were planning to be onboard by then and we figured we'd all be hungry. I think we ended up with about 25-30 people there.

We also met on the first sea day around 1 pm on the "secret deck" on deck 7 aft to exchange gifts, and then toured the Roy Suite, which one of the DISers had booked. That suite was amazing by the way. Anyone here booked in the Walt or Roy Suite? :)

As for other ideas, I see that the 4/24/10 cruisers are planning to meet the day before their cruise departs at the Montjuic fountain for the 7 pm show and then are meeting on Embarkation day at 3 pm in the Promenade Lounge. We've got almost 3 months to decide so there's no rush.

I am a big fan of meeting at the bar for drinks on embarkation day! I would bet with enough people interested, we may be able to get an unofficial beer tasting. We are in a cat 3 aft handicap suite so we may be able to set something up through the conceirge but no Roy Disney suite for us.

Anybody know how long from the airport in a taxi and are there plenty of taxis the T.A doesn't seem keen on us using a transfer with disney strangely.

Oh I also meant to ask if anyone knows what time approx the ship sails from Barcelona.

When I disembarked from a cruise in Oct. 08 there was a large line of taxis there. We practically walked right off the boat and into a cab.

We did this about 15 months ago and it was very simple. After you clear customs. There is an info booth off to your left. You can ask any questions there such as directions to an ATM (Visa machine in europe) to get some Euros for the fare.

After you have your euros walk outside and turn right and walk towards the next terminal. You will see a long line of taxis. I think the ride cost us 30 Euros on a Sunday with extra baggage and 4 of us. I think we may have given him 40 euros total. It was all very simple and I see no reason to use Disney for transfers when you should be able to do it yourself via cab for $30 roundtrip per person.

I think it took only about 30 minutes. Very little traffic on a Sunday. Might be different durring the week. If you have time it is also simple to take the train from airport to downtown. I need to get up to my 10 posts so I can PM people so I will post those instructions for those that want to same even more money.

If you have time and are a little adventurous you can get to the ship via public transport easily enough.

Here's the train map: (Well it would be here if I had 10 posts)

You need to do one transfer at Sants Estacio. You will exit the train from the airport and look for the L3 train going to Trinitat Nova. Once on that train you go 3 stops to Drassanes. You will come up an elevator at the water end of Los Rambla. Looking towards the water you will see one of many Tourist Info booths. That is within a block of where the blue shuttle bus takes people from the city out to the cruise ships. I think it is like 3 euros but it may depend on cruise line. We were on NCL.

The train trip would cost a max of 1.4 euros for 1 person. If you use the train a lot you can buy a 10 trip ticket that you can share amongst your group for less than 8 euros. It works for trains and buses.

On our return last year we did this. We took the shuttle from ship. Took the train from Drassanes to Sants Estacio. Placed our luggage in lockers. Took the HOHO bus around town and back to train station. Train to airport for our late night flight to Paris.

The trip from airport to port should be about 30 minutes assuming you're flying in on Saturday. There were probably 15-20 cabs there when we arrived in 2007 (on a Friday morning).
