May/June Codes watch....

My daughter called said her friend got a post card? Where's mine? "Oh my." I got an email for $1800 for a family of four for a moderate 6 nights. I just need room only. I have passes from last year.

I called last night spoke to a nice CM "Monroe". There is a discount out for May from AAA- Im not sure what it is, it's usually 15%. I was asking about dates May 3-9th.

You can book a room, and apply the code to the existing reservation when it comes out and the reservation is cancellable up to 5 days prior to your trip. (I know some of you already know this, but I figure it's good to post for those who don't)

May codes typically come out sometime during the first 2 weeks of February. I want to say they came out on Feb 12th last year...

What would your advice be.... I have two reservations right now for May 7-14. One is a room only and the other a package. I have to choose which one to go with because on January 29, I have to cancel the package if I don't want to continue the reservation. It seems that the AP discount won't possibly be out until Feb sometime. Should I cancel the package and hope that I can snag an AP discount( which should save us about $1500 if it is a 30% discount for Poly) or keep the package which is about $4900 with tickets and meal plan. Thanks for your input.

Nikki - can't you put a deposit down on the package to hold it up until 45 days before your trip? If you cancel before 45 days out you get a full refund of the deposit - which is about $200 I think.

We are also hoping to go that very same week and I plan to stay at the Poly if I can get a discount. Right now however I have package ressies at the POFQ because that is more in line with our budget if we have to pay rack rates.

my question is--is there a place on disney property i can go to check these codes? Im going to be in disney feb 5-12 , and will have no access to a computer---if the codes come out, i want to be able to get them right away---i tried to get my brother to check the website, but he wont remember --so any way to find out down there except to call every day?? thanks!

Looking for codes for May 13th - 20th

Last year the "available to anyone" room only codes as well as AP and Florida resident codes for 4/18 - 7/4 came out on March 9th

There were also packages with discounts to the general public released on March 9th for the same time period

We go every year, I'm signed up for everything Disney, order all the planning videos and dvds - No Emails, No postcards. Fast forward my sister who hadn't gone to WDW is 10 years get both!!!! No rhyme or reason.

I *did* get a postcard once - like 4 or 5 years ago it seems. I can't remember a time that postcard rates were offered and not general discounts that were almost as good (and AP discounts). We have to stay positive right?

I'm also anxiously awaiting the AP codes. I'm trying to decide if we should go with the pkg. (including dining) or AP discount. I was reading about the possibility of holding 2 ressie - 1 pkg, 1 rm only. My thought was that if AP discount was not that great or if it doesn't materialize at all, that I could, then, change my room only ressie into a pkg. Am I right about that?

Can you book now without a discount code, then when a code becomes available get the discounted rate??

Yes. That's what they told me when I booked anyway. I didn't ask if I could make my room only into a pkg at a later date, though. I believe you can do that, too.
