May have witnessed the worst "muffin topping" jeans ever today!

Sitting at lunch, rather large young lady gets up to leave and has to, and I kid not, lift up a fat roll to get her money out of her pocket of her low rise jeans. I just about spit my drink out, as I had just read the muffin topping thread on the DIS before I left. :bitelip:

:lmao: OMG!!!

How did I miss a thread like that???

Gotta go find it!!!

Holy Moly, you'd better grab your flame-retardent suit! don't you know that the poor gal has a bad thyroid, doesn't have enough $$ to eat healthy, is healthy (just ask her doctor), is just big boned, has every right to dress the way she wants....

For the life of me, I just can’t understand what some people must be thinking when they buy clothes that are so tight they have to Vaseline themselves to get them on. Folks—if your fat rolls hang over, buy the pants 1-2 sizes larger! I make it a life goal to hide my rolls, LOL!

As someone who is overweight myself, I would not judge someone for having a weight problem. However, I think it’s important to present yourself nicely, and properly fitting clothes are important.

If that's you in the wedding gown, you are gorgeous! Talk about "presenting yourself nicely and properly fitting clothes"! Awesome!

"Muffin Topping"????????????? :rotfl2: Oh my GAWD that's the first time I've heard that phrase!

I've always wondered about gals that have a beer belly and insist on wearing low-rise jeans with an exposed mid-drift. One of these days I'm going to show 'em my thong!

I have always been thin - weigh about 102 right now (just my nature) - but boy - I remember those days when I just LOVED tight jeans.. LOL Well even now - thin as I am - I HATE tight clothes - they're so uncomfortable!! Maybe it comes with age, but I'll take comfort over tight any day of the week.. :)

I am also overweight. I had a 12 yr old dd and a 10 yr old. I'm not sure where the 12 yr old genetics come from, she is petite and very slim (to the point where during the summer her shorts will be about a size 8). My 10 yr old was always in the 90% of her height/weight chart. I have explained to both of them that sometimes no matter how much you like a style it isn't right for your body type. My older dd loves baggy clothes but they don't look right on her. However jeans with the front pockets that look like rear pockets (squares right on the front) look great on her. My younger dd can wear the baggy clothes but knows that certain fabrics cling a little too much and don't look good on her.

Bottom line is that it isn't your size but your fashion sense.

::yes::

I don't have "rolls", but I always cover up that area....stretch marks from DD and DS ;) I think sometimes more clothing or more strategic clothing is more attractive :confused3

You've got to know she thought she was Lookin' Good! ::yes::

Low riders and spandex -- privileges, not rights! And I'd be neither priviledged nor right!

Oh, thanks so much—you are so sweet! It’s funny actually. When I was getting my wedding dress fitted, I commented to my mom that it would be so nice to have the stays/corset type things in regular clothes—man do they hold in things nicely! :teeth:

:stir:

It's all about presentation, if you want to look nice, you dress properly. Unfortunately a lot of people belong on "What not to Wear".
As a plus sized woman, for me it's about fit. I don't choose to wear low rise jeans because they're uncomfortable, and they always feel like they're falling off. Yet I've seen plenty of women both Thin and Heavy committing this particular fashion faux pas and it's not attractive on any of them.

Oh my gosh!!! Wait till the tag fairy sees that statement!! :rotfl2:

ead79--you made a very beautiful bride!! Sorry, I could not resist quoting you though!!

Even skinny people can do the muffin top!

I was at the university this morning and there was this young girl (18 or so) and she had on sweat pants where you can roll the waist down. It was down far enough that you could just barely see her butt crack, and the pants were tight. For as skinny as she was (I'd say 115-120 pounds!), she had rolls hanging out.

I hate fashion fads where people have to have perfect bodies to wear the clothes. It's so hard to look good at any weight -- and trust me, my weight is up there! I especially hate low rise jeans for little girls.

I was in a store and a young girl was ahead of me in line to pay. I was about to tell her that her tag was showing. I thought she’d like to know. I could be of assistance to cut it off for her. Why I shut my mouth I don’t know, but I did. Off she went and it was then I noticed that she had rolled down her waistband to make them look that way. I felt rather old, but at least not foolish. She did not have the muffin top, she looked good with her rolled pants. Actually when I young I wore some strange things and if I were that age today and looked like her I’d probably do the same.

Didn't read the whole thread - but you got it! :thumbsup2
I'm pooh size and do not go out wearing anything with my belly hanging out. Just because someone has a weight problem doesn't mean they need to look bad.
