may have to sell

I was thinking, did the allergist test him for the things that would be in florida, it's a totally different set of tests than Canada? Otherwise, if he only has house dust mite allergies March wouldn't matter.

Yes. Oak and nettle were biggies as were a variety of grasses and mold. When we were there in march oak was off the charts as were grasses.

I was thinking the same thing. I have tons of allergies ( including allergies to 5 types of bees) and I am on allergy shots. Did the OP husband test positive for anything? How can he determine " not that bad" or " controlled at home"? If they impact ones life to the degree that the OP wants to sell, I think allergy shots are warranted. At least give them a try to see if they make a difference. It was totally my choice whether to try the shots or not. Not the doctor's decision.

Ok, so I see the post before this shows positive to some allergens. Definitely worth giving the shots a try. If the doc won't do it, well he's not the only allergist on the block IYKWIM.

The allergist says that since he is doing well at home, we wouldn't consider shots. Doc feels you don't give shots for allergies at a vacation destination.

I guess I missed it. Absolutely no symptoms at home? Only on vacations ? That's very odd.

That's different, i got the impression previously that it was basically house dust mites. Trees often start pollenating late Jan in this area and grasses are not far behind. Hopefully the measures help.

Well we are nearing the end of a two week stay at Kidani and dh has done well this trip. He ended up not using the prendisone. His general practitioner advised only using the prendisone if it became necessary. He followed an antihistamine regimine coupled with a nasal spray--as you mentioned Dean. We had pillow covers for him, he showered off the allergens twice a day. I'm sure the time of year made a difference.

We are back for two weeks in January and are hopeful we will be able to keep coming here. It's been an amazing two weeks.

He will avoid March and April here however. I'm coming down with the children and my best friend and her girls in April. I'm very excited to have them as my guests.

Kidani was wonderful in their commitment to readying the room. It was pristine.

Good news!

Thanks for coming back to let us know how it's going.

This could help others having the same problems. :thumbsup2

My allergies are always better in WDW because we have a dog at home... that said I am starting immunotherapy soon :)

That's great that it worked out.

Happy to hear that.

No kidding here. We just got back today. I have been having problem with my heels. When I get up from sitting or sleeping, I can barely walk on them. I barely had this problem there while in WDW and on the Dream. It was very minimal when I had the pain.

I literally just got up a few minutes ago and could barely walk on them again. Can't figure this one out now.

I don't know if it is a little too weird for your husband, but acupuncture really helped me out with my allergies. It is covered under my insurance so I only had to pay a $25 co-pay per visit. It took about five visits to get mine under control. They did recommend more, but with four kiddos, I was having a hard time making it in for appointments.

Also, as a backyard beekeeper, I would recommend honey that is local to the WDW area, if you can find any. This really only works if you start taking about a teaspoon to a tablespoon daily a couple weeks before you have a problem. I have thought I would be just fine in the past and waited too long, and then it takes what feels like forever to start helping. Honey would probably not take the place of his medications though, just add to it, unless he has diabetes or something else that he has to really watch his sugar intake.

I know I am giving advice that is a little out there, but from one allergy sufferer to another, he has my sympathy (and you too).

That sounds like plantar fasciitis. I've had it since my last WDW trip, but it's pretty mild. Like you, the pain didn't start until I returned home, but I'm sure it was connected to all the walking (in not so supportive shoes a lot of times:blush:). Giving them a good stretch before you get up helps, but if it's really bothering you, maybe a trip to your doctor or a podiatrist is in order. Try wearing good, supportive shoes. Good luck!

well why not just use them to cruise? I know you don't get the same bang for the buck but its a great alternative.....we live in San Diego and eventually will just be using them here....
