I was waiting until the end of the previous Virgin sale in the hope that some May dates from Manchester might be lowered. Today they seem to have extended the previous sale until 15 Feb and of course no May dates.

I'm wondering if anyone has the ability to see how booked up the May flights are so that it might give an indicator whether they might discount them. If they are already quite full then I think we have a choice of jumping in on an indirect fare (£480ish) or gambling on a last minute charter.

What to do - what to do?

Have you flown with them before? What dates are you looking at? May is quite popular as most tag whit week onto a 2 week break as you probably know. My friend booked hers when they were first released for £1490 that was for 2 ad and 2 children-fantastic price going 21st may for 2 weeks. I know they are nowhere near that now.I dont think anyone on here can check availibilty on a particular flight. You could always try ringin VA direct and say you have aparty of 12 and can they accomodate and that you need a quote and what is availibility like? Other than that its a case of checking 2 or 3 times a day as believe me they do change a lot in a 24 hr period-first hand experience of going from £780 at 5am to £515 at 730am to £980 at 12pm :scared1:This was looking april to go september. Only 4 months left as well.If you had been going november dec I would have said hang on a bit as even a few weeks before going at that time the availibility is good and most flights not full espec early december. Hope this helps a bit but put your dates up on here and some of the flight gurus will have a look for you:thumbsup2
Also which airports (sanford /mco )or either.

We're looking around 13-27 May but with a couple of days leeway either side - you've got a great price. The problem we've had is that DH can't really book his hols so far in advance - we could have booked at around £460 but as this was much more (by about 40%) than we paid the same time last year DH baulked at it (being the true Yorkshire man that he is)
I have been checking several times a day but the Virgin prices seem stable at around £630 so it would be indirect or charter.

We were waiting for May flights in the VA sale - but they never arrived so we booked miles plus money.

Last year for May we booked in December in a Sale - so I am not expecting them to go down.

I managed to get May flights direct LGW - MCO with BA for £425 a few weeks ago, its worth shopping around if your looking for the best deal even if its not with VA

In the past I've used seatcounter.com to give me an indication of how busy the flights are.

This has been an issue fo a while that the flights are no longer "cheap".VA have always been good but like others have said they are getting expensive and there service is not what it used to be.I prefer VA but will consider going indirect this year if prices are high. And yes my friend had a good deal.Perhaps your DH should have let you book when they were £460 but like us all he prob thought they would drop.Hope you find a good deal and let us know if you find anything.Guess you have some miles as well so can do m+m:confused3
