May Exercise Challenge- 38,344 minutes!!!

Warning! Rant ahead! Detour available! I just had to get this out and so you are more than welcome to skip to the end! :rotfl:

Oh boy do I need help! I've totally lost all motivation. I've been working so hard for about a month and a half -- and slightly hard but not quite as much for about a month before that -- and am still only down 2 pounds. 2. I'm so discouraged!
I started eating breakfast -- something I never used to do. I don't eat much, it's true I could be doing better, but at least I'm doing better than I was. I haven't had a Pepsi in almost 8 weeks, after having one or two every single day. I don't eat chips anymore and almost never eat chocolate. I eat three meals a day and most of them are pretty good. I've had fast food exactly once in those same 8 weeks. My calorie intake is about 1500/day which according to some is too low, and according to others is just right for weight loss. :confused3
I've been doing the 30 Day Shred 6 days a week since May 1, along with at least one other activity per day -- walking, biking, etc.

I know the answer here is that if what I'm doing isn't working, I have to work even harder and eat even better, but I lost it all on Tuesday. I woke up to a + on the scale and just gave up. I ate extremely poorly, didn't exercise, and worst of all, didn't care. I just kept saying that if eating right and exercising wouldn't work, then why bother??

I tried to turn myself around yesterday but all I managed was 30 minutes on the Wii fit. Gahhh! Summer is coming and I can't fit into any summer clothes, I'm just so frustrated. So as of today I think I'm back on track and I guess I'm going to need to eat even better and work out even harder than ever if I'm serious about this.

So anyway. As of yesterday my total is:

980/1400

Don't give up! :thumbsup2

Remember, you want to stay healthy even after you lose the weight you want to lose - even if the numbers aren't going down yet, you're establishing healthy habits for the rest of your life. That's something to be VERY proud of, and something that doesn't necessarily show up in numbers to everyone else or even you. Every time you eat a healthy breakfast, or drink water, or exercise (even just a little bit without a huge calorie burn) you've made a point that you care about your health. Don't let yourself forget that!

Also remember that if you're building muscle and losing fat, the number might seem to stay the same.

Trying to work up to running again. Sickness and other stuff kept me down this fall/winter. So, I've started walking for three minutes, running for one. My HR says this is enough for now, so I'll keep doing that until it doesn't spike on the HRM and then move up!

981/1700

Blech. I looked at the scale today and it was not pretty. Not sure why I hopped on this morning since I had 2 pieces of cheesecake yesterday! Can't wait for June first and the next BL challenge so I feel more accountable. Right now between challenges I feel like a kid in a candy store!

Exercise-wise I am getting some! Have squeezed in some walks and still going to my early morning stretching class at the Y. Definitely need to step it up.

:hippie: to all those struggling right now. Listen to your fellow exercise minute counters! They are so wise. You are soooo going in the right direction towards a healthier you.

:beach: Hope everyone has a safe, fun, long weekend. We aren't doing anything or going anywhere, but DH has a furlough day today so since he's home and I didn't get called in to sub---let the honey dos begin! :rotfl2:

Drat had a visit from the poof fairy! :tink:

Felt like maybe I had been tapering a bit too much from my last long run but feeling good and ready for my half on Sunday. :goodvibes

180 short runs
120 packing and moving boxes and furniture for office move -- my new "cross training" ;)

740/1200

With my race and the move I should be close to my goal for the month.

Have a great week-end everyone! :beach:

yet again I fail miserably in the consistent exercise dept.

I need to get my head on straight!

I bet you get more activity than you give yourself credit for, Buffy. :flower3:

You're doing great at logging in on MFP. Give yourself credit for what you are doing instead of beating yourself up.

30 minutes walking last night, 35 minutes C25K today and 15 minutes weights.

I cant believe I am done with week four of C25K. Today went much better than the rest of the week and I know I was because I didn't push myself as hard before the workout. I am looking forward to conquering week 5!

1220/1400

Yeah, I know Lisa. A lot of mine is just running errands, shopping, and housework. Not really "official" exercise but I do monitor my steps on my iPod nano and that tells me how many calories I've burned.
DH has got to get the treadmill down of the blocks. It's to heavy for me to move but it has to come down. The threat of flooding is just about over and I need it!
I just don't feel like I'm working my hardest, well I know I'm not. I need to really work on my time management skills!

On the up side, I do have the beginnings of our summer schedule laid out so I hope to figure out how to either use the track at the HS, use the green or use the park.
DS15 threw me for a loop when he said rumors were swirling of night practices instead. I would dread that. As it is DS11 has tennis camp from 9-12, they've moved Basketball camp to 12:30-3:30 (instead of 9-12). If we have night track practice I will be permanently tethered to my car.
Thankfully basketball and tennis are at the same HS (not DS15's) but they also have a really nice track I can use. And my mom works nearby at a summer kids program so I can drop DD there if I need to so I can get a workout in at the green.

if someone had told me a month ago I could ride a bike for an hour without passing out, i would have laughed at them...but i have done it! Twice so far this month I have ridden more than an hour, along with a number of 30-45 minute rides...and this thread is part of my motivation. I love tracking my minutes and seeing the total increase. So thanks to everyone here for the encouraging words you put out there for the group!

5/23 - 20 minutes Wii Fit
5/24 - 68 minutes 12.5 mile bike ride!

827/875

I should have put my target higher, but i really didn't expect to be able to do as much as I have!

Hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday weekend.

Dahly

Ack! I'm behind in my logging!
On wednesday I used the new track near my house and walked for 140 minutes until the sun set. Literally, it was very pretty:)
Thursday I stubbed my toe and did nothing.
Nothing today yet but I will do something later and log. Yay for good weather!:thumbsup2
total 853/1200

No car trouble, I live in NYC so no car for me. I take the bus or subway everywhere!

1562/2000

May 22 - 52 mins, run; 56 mins, power walking with pup
May 23 - 41 mins, power walking with pup
May 24 - 70 mins, 4 mile race through our local zoo - it was so hot!;
40 mins, power walking with pup

New total - 1821/2000

Thank you all again for your mutual encouragement. It's so easy for me to get discouraged that the pounds aren't coming off as quickly as I want them to. In fact, I don't even own a scale anymore because this has always been a major problem for me. I have to realize, though, that this more active lifestyle is just that - a 'life' style - not a sprint, but a marathon. And a marathon that I hope won't end with the sweeper bus coming after me!

40 minute walk yesterday and 45 today brings my total to:

865/1200 :cool1:

The next few days are crazy for me, but I'm determined to get 335 more minutes to reach my goal.

- Laura

Lisah: Moving boxes was my cardio this week too! I am becoming quite the expert. ;)

Tuesday: at least 60 minutes
Wednesday: 15 min. Wii Fit+ and at least another 30 min. of moving boxes
Thursday: I'll call it 120 minutes, but I'm sure it's more than that of moving boxes.
Friday: 30 min.-more moving boxes

So, 200 + 60 + 15 + 30 + 120 + 30 = 455/900 minutes. I'll take it.

One of my goals for tomorrow is to get things organized for exercising in June. I also need to clean my bedroom and overhaul my car's trunk. I'm counting the latter as exercise. I think we're planting the garden sometime this weekend and that will count. I'd like to make it to the gym at least once over the next 3 days.

Have a great weekend everyone!

120 minutes of deep deep cleaning was my exercise today and I am not done yet, and that is a mild estimate, will actually put in another 8 hours tomorrow, doing the deep spring clean top to bottom to include the basement. Looking forward to the clean tho.

40 minutes of running on the beach (5K). Beautiful morning!

1442/1600 for the month.

Ted

865/1200 another hour long walk/short jog this morning!

I should be able to get in another 335 by the 31st!

TTFN :tigger:

CC we should try to get together at least once and go for a walk or run or something in June.
