Our next trip is May 6th to the 12th. I'm worried about crowds because of mother's day and the big disney celebration. Does anyone have an opinion?

We are going to be there 6th to 13th. I am worried about the same things.

Any opinions?

Me too! I hate crowds! Here's hoping for the best! Will be there May 7-15.

I'll be there May 9th thru the 13th and I'm not TOO worried yet. I don't think it's going to be as bad as we think.

Maybe May 5th, but the celebration goes on for 18 months, how many people are really going to feel the need to be there that exact day/week? I'm sure it'll more crowded than usual, but I don't think it's going to be like Holiday or summer crowds. (I hope!)

I was hoping these same things. Hopefully not too many more people reply to this thread saying I'm going that week too, just kidding. I hope everyone who's going has a great time, regardless of the crowds!!

I hear May crowds are reasonably light. I don't think everyone will rush down for the celebration, b/c there is always a celebration at Disney form something at any given time of the year. Knock on wood. :ssst:

I've gone the first or second week of May the past 5 years, crowds are usually on the light side. Weekends will be more crowded, weekdays should be good. Epcot handles crowds pretty well, Flower & Garden isn't a major event. Mother's Day usually isn't overcrowded. Hopefully this year will be the same (going May 7 to 13!).

Regarding the polls, keep in mind that The Dis has over 65,000 members.

I read on another Disney site that early May usually rates a 3 out of 10 crowd wise, so even if the Celebration bumps it up to a 4 or maybe even 5, that's still pretty good. Early December and Janurary after New Year's rated a 1 crowd wise and Easter and Christmas weeks rated a 9 or 10.

We are going May 21 to May 28 - I am preparing for the end of the week to be busy since that is Memorial Day weekend but I am hoping that the beginning of the week won't be bad - I wonder though if more people are going in May instead of Sept since so many had to cancel or change their trips last year do to hurricanes?

So 380 out 65,000 members going in May so far is a little over half of a percent. Current population of the US is about 296 million. And even if the total population of the US was 1/10th as likely to go to Disney this May as DISers that's 0.06% of 296 million is 177,600 spread out evenly over 4 weeks in May = 44,400 per week. Magic Kingdom alone averaged 38,000 people per day in 2003. These statistics are in no way scientific and should not be taken as fact. Just having fun with some numbers. pirate:

All though your numbers may not be scientific, they are definately impressive! As a planner numbers help me to calm my nerves, Thanks so much!
