May crowds

I know it should be lighter during early May but when does it start getting crowded? We're planning to go around this time of the year next year (if our plans do not go through this December)... TIA!

Easter is April 16th next year....so I would say the first 2 weeks of May would be the best....after that crowds will start to pick up a bit.

Thanks! we're thinking of 2nd and 3rd week (May 12-24?) because it's my DS's birthday on the 22nd... I'm thinking if it's worth it to push the trip a little earlier since it's less busy... Is there a large difference between the 2nd and 3rd week? Thanks!

I wouldnt expect a large difference...but you will notice a increase as some schools start to let out in the latter weeks of may.

My experience has been the first week of May (full or partial) has low crowds and the crowds increase each week.

I suggest going after Mother's Day weekend. I just returned from a 3-day stay, May 12 through May 15 and the crowds were not bad. Pirates and Haunted Mansion were under 20 minutes wait time; and although we had a FP for Space Mountain, my kids were able to ride a second time in under 30 minutes.

We've been the week before Memorial day 2 years ago and are getting ready to do it again next week. We didn't think the crowds were very bad but by Thursday or so you could definitely feel the weekend holiday crowd coming in. Every day it felt like there was just a few more people than the last. I would be prepared for crowds if you go later in the month, but then hope to be pleasantly surprised by how doable it all can be.

Thanks everyone! @ajwolfe Please let me know if crowds are ok next week! I am leaning towards keeping my plans to go until the Tuesday before Memorial Day, not only because of my DS's bday but also so I have an extra day of vacation since it's a Canadian holiday on May 22, 2017

We had 90s for 4 days, 80s for 3 days and one day of all day rain. We were told the 90s were much hotter than normal. But it definitely worked for us. I preferred bringing a mister for 90s to having to pack long sleeves like we did in March. We each just had a jacket (which we did used mornings and evenings when it was in the 80s). YMMV.

We have been a few times now the week before Memorial day weekend and love it! The crowds do not increase till toward the weekend and then it is still not that bad! We head out next Tuesday for a little Grad trip for my daughter and then plan to head home on Saturday when it starts getting busy busy busy.....

Last year was great with exception to the 24 hour party! It was packed, but we had so much fun!!!

We love May for nice weather! Hot, but not too humid like mid summer can be and we never seem to have much rain. Next week looks just gorgeous! I hope the forecast holds up!

crowds are dead at epcot right after flower and garden, which ends late may, late year it was like the 16th, this year its the 30th, but I remember its being so dead.

We were just there from May 7th - 15th and I thought the crowds were very reasonable. We had little trouble making 4th, 5th, 6th fast passes (outside of 7DMT and TSMM). Since we were staying at Bay Lake Towers, after finishing at one park during the day then hitting the pool for an hour or two we would walk over to the MK for the last couple hours of the day and still be able to get fast passes for the evening.
You definitely have to work refreshing the times for additional fast passes on your phone, but I almost always could end up with what we wanted which was great!

Hopefully the May crowds next year are not too unmanageable. We went on July 4th in 2011 and it was elbow to elbow. Can't be worse than that *fingers crossed*

Well crowd calendars show Memorial Day Weekend (including the Monday) as 8 or 9, with drop off to 7 or 8 the following week.
