MAY Countdown!! This is it, folks

This will be the first trip to DL for both myself and granddaughter, we live on the east coast so we have a 10 day trip planned.

Heading to DL on May 18th, staying at the Grand Californian for 5 nights!

From 1971 to current time, 30+ trips to WDW
May 2011 - Boardwalk (D23 scavanger hunt)
Dec 2011 - Caribbean Beach
July 2010 - Polynisian
July 2009 - Contempory
and so many more memories

:cheer2:

Will any one be there april 28th thru may 2nd any day that is a local? My family is getting my disney tickets using so cal discount but they are older & have no interest of even going in anymore. My bff is springing for the trip & letting me bring my grandson so I figure if I can save them a few bucks by having my family buy the tickets it'll help. I just wanna know I can walk in with a local & not get denied entrance then I'd spend more our not be able to go :(

Just read that Ariels Grotto will be closed during our visit; so thats carnation cafe and Ariels Grotto that will be taken off our dinning reservations :(

I'm visiting Disneyland between May 11th-16th. I'm spending a few weeks touring the West Coast first on a tour, and then going to Hawaii before spending the last few days of my trip at Disneyland. This is my second time, and I'm staying at HOJO. So excited... I cannot wait to see World of Color! :)

Oh bummer, I didn't know Ariel's was going to be closed for part of my trip too. I was hoping to do the WOC dinner there on the night we arrive(if WOC is showing on a Tuesday), but now I might have to hope that the closure is not extended any further and try to get in later in the week.

I am super bummed about Carnation Cafe being closed until who knows when, all I have heard is "you must go there for breakfast" from all my friends/family. I haven't heard any other great breakfast reviews, other than the character breakfasts.

When I plan vacation, my plans usually revolve around the dining. I am a foodie, for sure. I fall in the category of people whose vacation photos includes the meals we eat :)

we are planning on being there May 9-11th however...i jsut found out there are GradNite events on 2 of the 3 days we will be there...how will this affect out trip? hours cut shorter? crowds? It's my BF first trip ever!
Hi!!! the people attending the grad nites will have a park ticket, and a private event after-hours. Remember that May will have short hours (see Post #1 for the link to the information), so the event per se will not affect you. Crowds I don't think anybody knows since it seems it's the first time that this happens (having access to the park before the event). Your best bet is what all veterans always recommend: arrive at park opening.

Where did you read this? I just saw the DLR update in MousePlanet and it doesn't mention Ariel's closing...

For all newcomers: sorry I haven't post your names! I'm at work right now  but I will add you tonight at the latest. Welcome!!! :dance3:

Can I join :)

We were supposed to go on a cruise in Feb but a medical emergency came up so I finally convinced DH that we should go to DL instead since the cruise cannot happen this year (costs, and timing). So I booked flights last week for March 20-26th! I'm so excited! Will book hotels and such after I get all my points back that we booked the cruise on :)

Any one know of any good deals coming up?

Hi there - I just wondered where you had see this as I'd like to check our dates as well and searching was useless. Just wanted to see if I need to take those off our list as well.

Thanks!

Ty

Just a FYI - not sure if those dates for Ariel's Grotto are correct still. I saw elsewhere through only May 3rd.

Also, I just booked a lunch reservation for May 4th yesterday, so I hope it's open.

Ooh, that's very reassuring! I hope that your reservation stays as it is!

I found it here then called Disney dinning and was told by a cast member it will be closed during the dates I gave. If you want to check just call and see if it will be open during your visit at the parks.

Just called today to start making our dinning reservations I asked again at Ariels Grotto and this CM said its closed 4/30-5/3 so who knows!! planning on making reservations if we can for the 10 or 11th.

pixiedust: for you!!!
I added you to the list.

Can I also get put on the list for May 20-25th staying at the Best Western PPI.

On a side note we are going with an almost 2 year old, anyone else going with a young child and like to meet up and do DCA Flicks Fun Fair? Such a slower pace back there and great for the kiddies. We had so much fun with the little one there last year and cant wait to do it again!

I suppose we just have to wait... there's nothing on other forums (I did a quick check).

This is creeping up on me. Next week I can make our reservations for our trip.
