May be moving to Orlando area....

And I think you are missing what I said. You will notice I mention two apartment complexes in the area the op was asking about. Why? Because I have a good bit of knowledge on the subject. Firebombing, drug deals, murder. Police setting up roadblocks and stings. We can also talk about roaches and all night loud pool parties.

I said NOTHING about any of the luxury complexes.

Oh look random search on Google:

That's the stuff I'm looking to avoid. ;)

Maybe I'll poke around lake Mary. Where else would you suggest?

I grew up in Altamonte Springs and my niece still ives there, she really likes the schools, like any city you will have to be careful with certain parts. I alwys try to pick good school districts and then start looking. I went to Teague Middle school and Lake Brantley High school and I understand that they are still great schools.

Personally, if I had to move back-I would pick Lake Mary out of those choices. Second would be certain areas of Casselberry. (I would avoid the Ronald Reagan area).

Honestly the only area I would avoid is right around Rosenwald Center, other than that much of Ronald Reagan is nice.

My Dh used to work in that office complex. It is considered Maitland.

There are some nice areas of Maitland and Winter Park I'd consider.

We lived in Winter Springs but there aren't really any apartment complexes there I'd consider unless something at the Town Center. Lake Mary, Winter Springs/Tuscawilla, Oviedo all have houses/townhouses to rent pretty cheap. There is a nice complex off of 434 near 417 in Winter Springs right on the Oviedo border. I knew people who lived there and worked in the office complex you mentioned.

I know several people who worked in that area who lived in Winter Garden. If I had to do it again, I'd look there.

I wouldn't pick Casselberry or Altamonte Springs.

ETA- I'd also add parts of Longwood to the list & Heathrow. I'd skip Sanford.

Ha, Ive got a totally different opinion. Winter Springs, Tuscawilla I would avoid sense there are a ton of forclosures in that area, also if you go to far east you get stuck with a bunch a college kids. Winter Garden area also has been hit by a bunch of forclosures in the nicer areas but I feel the drive from Winter Garden would stink.
So I would consider Casselberry, Winter Park, Maitland, Longwood, and Heathrow.

And the areas of Ronald Reagan right along the railroad tracks. Kinda loud.
Ive lived by railroad tracks my whole life so I didnt even think of that.

So Longwood and Heathrow are OK? Who did your husband work for over there?

Maitland too. Forgot about that area. This is soooo confusing.
I appreciate all the help!

There is a lot of foreclosures ALL over Florida. If you are looking to avoid foreclosures, FL isn't the place to be! People rave about Celebration and the number of foreclosures there is beyond outrageous.

It is really interesting to see the differing opinions of the same areas. The only place in Casselberry I'd consider is the Red Bug Lake/Lake Howell area that boarders Tuscawilla & Maitland. There are actually some apartments there that didn't seem to bad. Maybe at Dodd and Red Bug Lake.

He worked for EA. Longwood and Heathrow are absolutely both good areas.

You have to be kinda choosey in FL in general. Most of the towns have parts that are good and parts that are pretty shady.

There seems to be some nice apartments in longwood and Heathrow. I'll have to take a drive over sometime and check the area out. Thankfully we don't have to rush since he doesn't mind commuting from Clearwater to Orlando for the time being. He'll be able to work from home as well so that will help.
I really like the area I am in now, the only thing different I would do next time is find a community where they have resident activities.
