May at WDW?

I just got back last night from a 7 day WDW vacation, and I'm ready to plan our next trip! My parents have a timeshare at the Marriott every other year, so my DH and I will be going with them next year. Since we have time, my dad is going to try and trade to stay at the Boardwalk or other WDW vacation club (he has a 2 BR w/lock out, we'll only need a 1 or 2 br, think we'll be lucky??) Anyway, after going in March I could never go back in the summer, the weather last week was perfect and the crowds were much more managable. How about May (2006)? We're thinking of the 1st or 2nd week... how are the crowds then? I'm assuming the weather is warm, but not as hot as July or August?

Crowds are very moderate in early May. Schools are still in session and it's too close to the end of the year for parents to pull them out for vacation.

Temps will typically be in the 80s and humid, but nowhere near what you get in the summer months.

As for trading into a DVC resort, good luck!

Where's your dad's timeshare? He'll have an awfully hard time trading into DVC, unless he's got something really good (maybe even then.)

It's at the Marriott Grande Vista, a few minutes from the main gate to the MK. He has a 2 br unit which sleeps 8, and a lock out which sleeps 4. He's going to try and trade for a 1 or 2 bedroom, since it will only be the 4 of us. (And I think DH and I will be leaving mid-week to spend a few days in Key West, where we have a timeshare!)

I may be wrong, but I don't think DVC allows trades to other locations in Orlando. You might want to ask on the DVC board.
