May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

I've just switched my medicine so I'm thinkin' that is what is going on but man I wish I had a natural supplement I could take to help with energy.

Ginseng extract & ginger tea top the natural energy supplement list and they have zero negative side effects. :thumbsup2

Now that you bring up the thyroid thing...we've had a little bit of a scare going on with Chandler right now. He's got some nodules on both sides of his thyroid. Function is just fine. We don't know what the nodules are.

The unknown IS the worst and am sorry you have to wait and wonder. The only thing I would say is live 1 day at a time and try not to think the worst as that can be the most damaging of all. You can only control what you can control. Hang in there!!

Then about 3 years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Luckily, i have found a supplement regimen that is helping but it takes very little to trigger a flare-up. I am petrified it will happen while on vacation.

Have you ever heard of a product called David Pal by Mind Alive? http://www.mindalive.com/Products_DAVID_PAL.htm I was never into all the naturalist/hoslitic mumbo jumbo until I was introduced to this product and for someone who's suffered from insomnia, depression and fibromyalgia all my life, this was a life-saver. :yay:

Ok, I'll stop with the dispensation of my prescriptions now.

I am sorry to hear that some people are not feeling well. A horrid stomach bug has hit our house and I was sick all last week and still not feeling 100%. My dd was sick all weekend. I just keep thinking that I am so glad it hit now and not next month at this time!

:grouphug: for all the ladies with health issues! I have a heart arrhythmia that causes lots of fatigue so I get that! Luckily it hasn't been bad at all during this pregnancy (though of course that in itself wears me out). Maybe we'll all spend the cruise lounging together on deck 4 with smoothies and drinky-drinks. ;)

Kelly, my thoughts are with you and Chandler. I know how hard that can be. Health concerns with your children are the worst, but at least if they are taking things slow it suggests they don't think it's a dire problem. *fingers crossed for you guys*

On a lighter note, having just returned from Vegas I think my wardrobe will be mostly black and white with touches of grey/purple/pink. I do have one olive green dress but I will probably just wear my black flats even though brown would go better. Mixing and matching is the rule of the day! I only wore one dress in Vegas though I planned on wearing more, but I think I'll try to do them every night for dinner on the cruise. Oof, I am not even all the way UNpacked yet, I don't want to think about packing!!! :scared1:

I think we all need a group hug. Ready.... 1, 2, 3 :grouphug:
Let's all think positive thoughts for everyone especially Chandler! Kids are only suppose to get scraps and bruises that we can make better, that's it! One of my favorite shows is Mystery Diagnosis, and it always amazes me how the human spirit carries those people through their ordeal until they finally get the diagnosis.

I'm so excited for our first cruise that it makes me want to shout!:hyper: Thanks for introducing me to the Port Canaveral webcam, now I'm totally addicted. Just watching those palm tress swaying in the breeze is driving me crazy with envy! I was somewhat productive today, I cleaned up the dining room just in time for Easter. Maybe I should clarify that I moved the craft supplies to another room, so is that really cleaning up? :lmao:

Awww...thanks so much for all the hugs & support, y'all. :grouphug: We've pretty much decided that we aren't going to freak out until it's time to freak out. At first Chandler himself was very upset & scared to death but we talked him down from that telling him it's not time for all that yet. Then, of course, you can't let on any different in front of him. Sheesh! I refuse to think there's anything truly wrong until someone says that there is.

Enough of all that, tho. I don't want to bring the group down. I do appreciate the love, tho. So thank you lots.

My TA/friend who just got off the Fantasy has started her big report over on another forum which has got me sooooo jacked for this cruise. Even tho it's a much smaller ship and not the big, new, grand Fantasy I'm still pumped beyond words. We've got a wonderful group here to sail with, we're doing excursions we've really itched to do, and we'll be together all on another of Mickey's ships. What can be better? Right?!

Also, another (unrelated) big deal for me today that's cruise-related: I finally heard back from the owner of the other fan forum I'm real active with and got the official okay to use the website's name & logo script for the girls' cruise group my friend & I have sorta brought to fruition. Now we can give our group of gals a name and create a logo for shirts, etc. It feels so good to have that nod of approval and vote of confidence from the awesome guy who started that website. I felt so warm-n-fuzzy when I got the word today. Makes me so excited for cruising in general! I so want to be salty~n~seasoned by the time we get to that Dream cruise in September 2013. LOL! We've still got almost 18 months before that cruise sails and we added our 11th stateroom with our 24th gal today. Exciting! It's fun to see what was always a simple bucket dream tossed around in conversation come together. You know???? :cloud9:

Congratulations! This is so cool. I keep looking at that going "I wish I could go!" but I will have a baby who is about 1 at that time and I doubt it'd go over well with the hubby to leave. Plus I have no idea where we'll be living or even if it will be in the US. Boo. :)

Brittany Im so sorry.. that totally stinks. At least you are blessed with a helpful DH

I have some sort of chronic pain and fatigue syndrome (possibly Fibromyalgia) -- and it can be so hard as a wife and mom.
Im sorry. I have a few friends w/ Fibromyalgia. Not easy to live with.

This is why I always wear my tennis shoes on the plane b/c they're the heaviest and leave the flipflops in the luggage. Also, instead of taking a purse, I always bring a backpack (which is actually DS's old Eddie Bauer diaper bag but it still looks good) which can also fit an extra set of clothes, DS & my swimsuits & a pair of flipflops ... and it doesn't count as luggage. :thumbsup2
I always wear shoes that are easy to get on & off at security at the airport. Dont want to deal with shoe laces

Ditto. That's why you'll see me in a ton of blacks - they serve triple duty (hehe duty): they match my 1 pair of black shoes, they are slimming and when DS puts his chocolatey hands on my "but," (hehe ... I said butt) it doesn't show as much. :cool1:
I LOOVE black clothes. White makes my butt look big!

Ok. Who's so excited about this trip and can't concentrate on work at the office like me??!!
Seriously Im sure everyone around me is so sick of hearing about our cruise. I am just going to burst Im so excited!

I'm BEYOND excited.... I SOOO need a beach fix!
Im in need of the beach and a fun beverage ;)

Kelly I am so sorry to hear about Chandlers scare. It is no fun to see your child hurt, struggle ect... and not be able to fix it. Hang in there friend. Saying a prayer for peace and wisdom for your family :grouphug:

Heck, I love to order cookies at midnight just because. I don't need an excuse. :rotfl:
All this talk of cookie & milk is making me crazy. I want cookies!!!!!!!!!

Ummmmm...I am totally guilty of packing shoes that go with one outfit. In fact, I have been known to not be able to decide on just which pair of shoes I want to wear, and bring multiple pairs for just one outfit.
You are not paying for luggage on a plane. So you can do that! Before the airlines started charging for luggage, I would bring a suitcase just for shoes!!! Ah those were the days

Eh just skip unpacking and save it for the cruise... see then you will be AHEAD instead of behind :thumbsup2

Add me to the in pain/broken group. I came on this thread to catch up, while in tears. I went speed walking with my neighbors and I am in so much pain now. It was kind of funny to come on hear and see how many of you were also having a rough physical day... NOT that you were in pain, but yikes... we are a sad bunch tonight! I had foot surgery last Jan that went very bad. I caught a severe infection. Went in for a minor surgery and never thought I'd end up in the hospital asking if I was going to loose my foot. I was hospitalized for 2 weeks, and came home on a pic for 5 wks. Had to postpone a cruise we had planned for our 10yr and missed 4months of work. I had SO much pain still, and my last MRI said I still have an infection in my foot. Just stinks. Thursday I am going to a new orthopedic in the city. Im really praying that he has some ideas on how to make my foot better. Ok thats my sob story for the night. Back to dreaming of Disney :lovestruc

I was just chatting with my friend who just got off the Dream and they never made it to the beach on the Bahamas. She said her kids didnt want to leave the kids area so her and her DH just went to the market and shops. She went back later to the boat and got her girls and they went to the straw market and got their hair braided... no beach. Boo... I was hoping for a review from someone that I know. Oh well, on the other (travel) board Im on it has great reviews. I'll just have to go on that.

Psssst....don't mention about the big approval over there. It's on the down-low for now until we get solid options worked out to put to the vote. :)

Awwww...I understand. We have another chick whose 1st bundle will be just over 1 at sailing and a few others who hope to have new additions by then. A few others aren't 100% which is okay. How do you predict where you'll be 18 months out? One of my roomies has a military hubby also. She isn't at all sure but I told her I'd hold her spot until 6 months at least & hope for the best. If we have to swap her out for another person last minute I don't think it'd be hard to fill her spot. Just think, I can't have anything come up to keep me from going because it'd mess up everyone in the 3 rooms I have booked with the onboard booking savings. Eek!!!

Even though they didn't make it to the beach it sounds like they had a great time without paying for a Disney Excursion, and that's a great review for me. We are going to cancel the Beach Day and just go it alone to Cable Beach. :cool1:
I have another question for everyone that may be a silly question, but I'm assuming everyone takes cash in Nassau. I thought I read somewhere that some place don't take cash and to bring your credit card only. Also, when we get off the boat in Nassau should we take our passports? I wasn't planing on it, maybe just a copy if anything.

I asked the passport question somewhere else fairly recently and got that one answered. You just need your room key card and picture ID (like drivers license) to reboard the ship in Nassau. I was concerned with taking our passports off with us to Atlantis. I'm super cautious with them and don't like taking them anywhere. Weird. The cash/credit card thing I'm not sure. Going to Atlantis I know it's all cc there but we'll take some cash just in case. I'm not planning to take our assigned bus back to the ship because it's so early. I *may* need cash for a cab if there's no room on the buses when we're ready to return later. Not sure about what costs are associated with Cable Beach. Have y'all looked that place up on Trip Advisor or other Nassau travel sites? Maybe you'd get more specifics there. :confused3

Thanks for the info. I don't feel comfortable walking around with our passport either, but I do want to get Maya a stamp in her passport. Since we won't be on a Disney schedule in Nassau now I think we'll get off the boat have our passports stamped and then take them back to our room instead of carrying them around. :thumbsup2
Cindy I know you get your passport stamped every time you go, do you carry around your passport for the rest of the day?

Yep, I carry it with me because I am too lazy to reboard the ship and then get off again! :rotfl: We don't do beaches in Nassau though, so that is a completely different story. If we did, the passport would probably go back to the ship. Since we are at the point where we have "been there, done that" just about everywhere in Nassau, we stick with a few hours of shopping and maybe a walk over to Fort Fincastle and Queens Staircase. For those types of jaunts, I feel ok keeping my passport on me. Oh, if I snorkel through a Disney excursion, the passport goes back onboard as well for that. Haven't done a snorkeling excursion in years though.

Your girls cruise sounds like a blast, Kelly. Several of my high school girlfriends were supposed to get together this fall for a Disney cruise, but most dropped out. Two of us are adamant about going still...so we are cruising the Dream on our own! LOL

Oh Christina that sounds awful. Luckily, you have access to some excellent docs that I'm sure will fix you right up

Oh Christina, that sounds both painful and just a pain to deal with in general. Hoping your doctor can get your foot back to good health soon!

It was my understanding that guest services will get your passports stamped for you :confused3

They can, but they do not always come through. Just my past experience. If it's a definite must have, my suggestion is to go yourself. If it's a nice to have, but not a necessity thing, going through Guest Services is the easiest route. :goodvibes

Ok, so on a totally different note....

I'm reading the thread about what to do/not to do on a DCL and the last post the poster put her kids didn't enjoy the AP show and Crush b/c they don't watch TV and had no clue who crush was....OMG??!!! REALLY??? WHAT'S THE POINT OF A DISNEY CRUISE IF YOUR KIDS HAVE NO IDEA OF WHO THE CHARACTERS ARE????
Ok, just had to get that off my chest and didn't want to post in her thread... plus I knew you guys would understand! ;)

Anyway, I hope EVERYONE is feeling better. I know I am today. Green tea helps a TON!

Well thank you! I only started the ball rolling because it was always something casually discussed but nobody ever established when. I pushed the when part and the ball rolls from there. I have my moments with the boys when I'm like "I need to get away - NOW" and then I have my escape cruise to look forward to. That's awesome that a couple of you hung in there for your getaway cruise. That rocks! :thumbsup2
