OK, now that we are home from our 5/8 cruise I am thinking that I should have taken notes to help me remember!
We flew down a day early and stayed at the Radisson. It was me(41) my daughter Kasey (4), my friend Jane(41) and her daughter Brittany (14). The Radisson was very nice and we enjoyed the pool in the morning since we got there to late to enjoy it that first evening. We got to port around 10:15, checked in within minutes and got on line. We were probably in the first 100 or so on line. Once they let us in (around 12:15) we went right to the spa and made all our reservations for that. We then went to eat lunch at Parrot Cay. After lunch I went and registered my daughter for the kids club and then we wandered over to dining changes to make sure we had a table for 4 and were not sharing. There was a table there for reservations for brunch at Palos and we walked over figuring no way could we get them now, it would be to late but no problem getting them. We could have even gotten High Tea reservations at that time too since they were open but we didn't want to do that. OK, so we went back to the room and waited for the luggage to arrive so we could unpack. It came pretty quickly and we were al unpacked before the life boat drill. We had to go outside for the lifeboat drill. It was pretty fast and painless. They took your cabin number as you were getting into line. They had no problem with kids who took theirs off and even adults who took it off before the drill was over. We went up to see some of the sail away party then got ready for dinner. We had Lumieres the first night, I was a bit disappointed since that is my least favorite restaurant. We had Dee Pak as our waiter and Christi as our assistant waiter. Both were great and I would love to have them again next cruise! They were both great with my daughter. After Dinner we walked around a little then went to sleep. The 14 year old went up to check out the Stack for the 411 but she hated it. She was miserable the whole cruise and couldn't wait to get off and go home, she was bored to tears!
I will just combine the highlights of the rest of the trip since the days are sort of blurred together. Palos brunch is a not to be missed thing! It was so awesome. We had Marc as our server and he was wonderful. My daughter liked the kids club so that left me with some time on my hands and I spent most of that at the spa! I had the spa taster, a hot stone massage, went in the Chakra capsule 2 times and spent 3 days with the rainforest room. I preferred to shower at the spa rather than in the stateroom. The water pressure was much better there! We went to Bingo twice, I won the last day 335.00! One night we went to a game of guessing TV show theme songs. Another night we saw a game show called Walk the Plank which was funny. We saw Golden Mickeys and caught the matinee of Disney Dreams and the 8pm show also!
Key West was just OK...really not a kids type place. There were people walking around naked, one naked woman walking her dog too! he little outdoor cafe thing we ate at was called NY Pizza or something like that and one of the male waiters there had bigger breasts than I do! My daughter didn't even notice this though! We went to the Butterfly place and it was cute, but not worth the ride it took to get there. We did pick up some nice t-shirts at touched by the sun.
Grand Cayman-LOVED IT- we tendered off the ship(a process that was very quick) and walked around a little. Then we found Captain Marvins where we had an 11am trip booked...well now it was only 930 am so what were we going to do the rest of the time..we went in and inquired about a private boat, they didn't have a crew for it but said we could switch to the 10am 3 hour tour for only a few more dollars than our 2 hour 11am one. We jumped on that chance, better than hanging around there for an hour and a half. So off we went. The boat was nice and the crew was nice. We went to a barrier reef to snorkel and then to coral gardens to snorkel before going to stingray city. My 4 year old LOVED it all!! She found a sea turtle and was petting it in the water while we were snorkeling. She loved petting the stingrays and had no fear about going in there with them!
Cozumel-was ok- We shopped some and then took a horse and carriage ride around for 40 minutes. It showed us all the back streets and areas there, it was nice and didn't drive crazy like those ones in Nassau! We got so much sun burn in Grand Cayman so we didn't go to any beached in Cozumel though I would have liked to go to Paradise Beach.
Castaway Cay- WONDERFUL! I love that place! We built sand castles, swam in the water and ate lunch. The 14 year old watched my daughter while Jane and I went on the Banana Boat. WHAT A RUSH!! I would do that banana boat again in a heartbeat..it was so much fun!! We went back and swam some more then went back to the ship to enjoy the pools some and get our laundry done. Laundry room wasn't crowded that day, we also did laundry on the 2nd sea day and had no problem getting a machine that day either.
I didn't find the "show" at animators anything really special. It was a nice effect but I wouldn't schedule my Palo dinner to make sure I made the Animators Palate Dinner.
The food was very good in all the restaurants, and if it wasn't they would have brought you out anything else you wanted.
The pools are another whole story...the Goofy pool was crowded and I wish they would enforce the "No Jumping" rule! Kids jumping all over the place and on anyone in their way. A group of 6 were throwing a water football around and there is just no room in that pool for that kind of thing. The water was really cloudy, couldn't even see the bottom. The Mickey pool must have been closed down at least 3 times if not more during our cruise for kids having accidents in it and once for a kid vomiting in it. The adult pool-heavenly! I loved being able to get away from the zoo at the other pools and just go to the adult one!
We were off the sip by 730am, in fact we were the first ones off the ship! We headed straight to Magic Kingdom and spent the day there. We then spent the night at Universals Royal Pacific Hotel (I would stay there again anyday!). The pool they have there is so nice! Since we stayed at a Universal Studios Hotel we got front of the line access the next day at the park. We were able to go on everything there in 4 hours with the front of the line pass. Its worth it staying at one of their hotels just for that alone!!
Well, that's about all I can remember right now!
