OK, now that we are home from our 5/8 cruise I am thinking that I should have taken notes to help me remember!
We flew down a day early and stayed at the Radisson. It was me(41) my daughter Kasey (4), my friend Jane(41) and her daughter Brittany (14). The Radisson was very nice and we enjoyed the pool in the morning since we got there to late to enjoy it that first evening. We got to port around 10:15, checked in within minutes and got on line. We were probably in the first 100 or so on line. Once they let us in (around 12:15) we went right to the spa and made all our reservations for that. We then went to eat lunch at Parrot Cay. After lunch I went and registered my daughter for the kids club and then we wandered over to dining changes to make sure we had a table for 4 and were not sharing. There was a table there for reservations for brunch at Palos and we walked over figuring no way could we get them now, it would be to late but no problem getting them. We could have even gotten High Tea reservations at that time too since they were open but we didn't want to do that. OK, so we went back to the room and waited for the luggage to arrive so we could unpack. It came pretty quickly and we were al unpacked before the life boat drill. We had to go outside for the lifeboat drill. It was pretty fast and painless. They took your cabin number as you were getting into line. They had no problem with kids who took theirs off and even adults who took it off before the drill was over. We went up to see some of the sail away party then got ready for dinner. We had Lumieres the first night, I was a bit disappointed since that is my least favorite restaurant. We had Dee Pak as our waiter and Christi as our assistant waiter. Both were great and I would love to have them again next cruise! They were both great with my daughter. After Dinner we walked around a little then went to sleep. The 14 year old went up to check out the Stack for the 411 but she hated it. She was miserable the whole cruise and couldn't wait to get off and go home, she was bored to tears!
I will just combine the highlights of the rest of the trip since the days are sort of blurred together. Palos brunch is a not to be missed thing! It was so awesome. We had Marc as our server and he was wonderful. My daughter liked the kids club so that left me with some time on my hands and I spent most of that at the spa! I had the spa taster, a hot stone massage, went in the Chakra capsule 2 times and spent 3 days with the rainforest room. I preferred to shower at the spa rather than in the stateroom. The water pressure was much better there! We went to Bingo twice, I won the last day 335.00! One night we went to a game of guessing TV show theme songs. Another night we saw a game show called Walk the Plank which was funny. We saw Golden Mickeys and caught the matinee of Disney Dreams and the 8pm show also!
Key West was just OK...really not a kids type place. There were people walking around naked, one naked woman walking her dog too! he little outdoor cafe thing we ate at was called NY Pizza or something like that and one of the male waiters there had bigger breasts than I do! My daughter didn't even notice this though! We went to the Butterfly place and it was cute, but not worth the ride it took to get there. We did pick up some nice t-shirts at touched by the sun.
Grand Cayman-LOVED IT- we tendered off the ship(a process that was very quick) and walked around a little. Then we found Captain Marvins where we had an 11am trip booked...well now it was only 930 am so what were we going to do the rest of the time..we went in and inquired about a private boat, they didn't have a crew for it but said we could switch to the 10am 3 hour tour for only a few more dollars than our 2 hour 11am one. We jumped on that chance, better than hanging around there for an hour and a half. So off we went. The boat was nice and the crew was nice. We went to a barrier reef to snorkel and then to coral gardens to snorkel before going to stingray city. My 4 year old LOVED it all!! She found a sea turtle and was petting it in the water while we were snorkeling. She loved petting the stingrays and had no fear about going in there with them!
Cozumel-was ok- We shopped some and then took a horse and carriage ride around for 40 minutes. It showed us all the back streets and areas there, it was nice and didn't drive crazy like those ones in Nassau! We got so much sun burn in Grand Cayman so we didn't go to any beached in Cozumel though I would have liked to go to Paradise Beach.
Castaway Cay- WONDERFUL! I love that place! We built sand castles, swam in the water and ate lunch. The 14 year old watched my daughter while Jane and I went on the Banana Boat. WHAT A RUSH!! I would do that banana boat again in a heartbeat..it was so much fun!! We went back and swam some more then went back to the ship to enjoy the pools some and get our laundry done. Laundry room wasn't crowded that day, we also did laundry on the 2nd sea day and had no problem getting a machine that day either.
I didn't find the "show" at animators anything really special. It was a nice effect but I wouldn't schedule my Palo dinner to make sure I made the Animators Palate Dinner.
The food was very good in all the restaurants, and if it wasn't they would have brought you out anything else you wanted.
The pools are another whole story...the Goofy pool was crowded and I wish they would enforce the "No Jumping" rule! Kids jumping all over the place and on anyone in their way. A group of 6 were throwing a water football around and there is just no room in that pool for that kind of thing. The water was really cloudy, couldn't even see the bottom. The Mickey pool must have been closed down at least 3 times if not more during our cruise for kids having accidents in it and once for a kid vomiting in it. The adult pool-heavenly! I loved being able to get away from the zoo at the other pools and just go to the adult one!
We were off the sip by 730am, in fact we were the first ones off the ship! We headed straight to Magic Kingdom and spent the day there. We then spent the night at Universals Royal Pacific Hotel (I would stay there again anyday!). The pool they have there is so nice! Since we stayed at a Universal Studios Hotel we got front of the line access the next day at the park. We were able to go on everything there in 4 hours with the front of the line pass. Its worth it staying at one of their hotels just for that alone!!
Well, that's about all I can remember right now!

Who is the present entertainment crew? Who was hosting game shows, etc.? We've had great times with SheShe, Ellen, Andy, Karen and Que last summer. Have any of those CMs returned? Thx for your terrific report!!

THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR "GREAT REPORT"

QUICK QUESTION, HOW DID YOU GET FROM THE RADDISSON TO THE CRUISE SHIP? DID YOU TAKE THE SHUTTLE OR USE YOUR CAR & PARK IN THE PORT.

THANKS AGAIN

PATRICIA

Great report!! We look forward to trying the western treck in a couple of years.

So you were the among the group the took over the ship when we left. pirate: We were on the May 1st Eastern.

We had Marc as our server for brunch as well!!! We like him so much we made a special request to have him be our server for dinner later in the week.

aprilgail2 - Hope you enjoyed having Deepak as your server: isnt he lovely! He is DD's (Palo server) boyfriend, so we know him very well. All the girls seem to fall in love with him, and he is great with the children.

jlawall - dont think Ellen is returning to the Magic.

We drove our car there and parked it for 70.00. It was easier that way since we were heading right to Disney in the morning, we didn't want any delays by waiting for a whittle.

I am so bad with names I can't remember anyones except "This is your cruise director Rachael speaking" LOL....I remember the girl who did the game shows had a bit of a deep voice though....

Omgosh, I think, we might have been on the same Captain's Marvins tour. We went from 10 am to 1 pm. We were one of the last people to get on. There was one guy snorkeling with a life preserving dount thingy....

I loved Grand Cayman too.

I think we may have been...was the guy in the donut thing a black man wearing a bikini???
Did you have a kid with you? There were only 2 small kids on the boat, my daughter was the youngest one and we had a 14 year old who just sat there pouting the whole time!!

Yep, we were on the same tour. We were sitting up towards the front where they played the video. I had two dds with me. One was almost 3 and the other was my 6 1/2 year old. When stopped at the second snorkel stop my 3 year didn't want to go out inthe water so, my dh and I took turns going out in the water. The 14 year old was really shedding some tears up front. The older man on the boat went and got her a tissue. He was trying so hard. I just thought she was seasick. I really felt sorry for her. I almost offered her some daramine(spelling??) but then I thought her parents would think I was wacko. I can't believe she was pouting. Gosh, is that what we have to look forward to when our dds get older? I'm so sorry she had such a rotten time on the cruise.

Yup, she was just being a brat which is why we really didn't even bother with her much there. All she wanted was to be home and see her boyfriend...she wouldn't try anything or even try to have fun on he cruise! She did semi-like castaway Cay and then once we got to Universal she liked that but she waned nothing to do with the cruise! She was so stubborn she wouldn't even put sunscreen on, finally the man who ran the boat walked past her and said "get up front and out of the sun!!" and she did it, but not before getting burned!
I don't think it was seasick because she was taking Bonine every day since the day prior to getting on the cruise....

Great report!! I really enjoyed sharing your stories. Sorry about the 14 yr old with the attitude. Hope she didn't spoil your trip! Did your DD enjoy the clubs and the activities there. Sounds like you got to go to the spa quite often. How nice!!! Thanks again for taking the time to share.

My daughter loved the clubs! I was really surprised since she is a bit of a baby about not being around me but she didn't cry and loved being there. She also loved the fact that if she beeped I had to come running LOL..the first night she tested me ou it too!
I meant to add in my trip report that we brought the over the door shoe holder and it was great, the bathroom stayed uncluttered and we knew where everything was!!

I'm kinda bummed I didn't go to the DIS meet. We got on the boat early but my dh had a hard time getting spa reservations on sea days which is probably expected. So, Katlyn was napping during the DIS meet while dh went to the spa. She was so exhausted that I didn't have the heart to wake her. Did you go to the DIS meet? How was it?

I even ran into OhioMinnie a thousand times in the hallway since I knew what she looked like.

Hey there, sorry to jump into this thread (I should be writing my own May 8th trip report) but wanted to help here...

Current cruise staff includes, but is not limited to:
Andrea, Chip, Dimitri, DJ C, Clare, Kelly...

Can't think of any others off the top of my head. They went through the cruise staff and they said how long they had all been there....most had been there less than 3 or 4 months. Andrea was the only one who had been there quite awhile--2 yrs. And I think it was Kelly who was pushing a year.

HTH!

Did you buy the DVD from Captain Marvins...we did and I just got it today..let me know if you didn't buy it and I will try to burn a copy of the DVD for you and send you it!

Thx for the crew updates! Hey Nat, what's Ellen up to? I had heard that she was going to try commercials in Britain or something. I will miss her, she was on all of my Magic cruises so far!

Am pretty sure many guests and certainly Disney will miss the lovely Ellen from Aussie. She was great with everyone and such a lovely person. Thankfully, she is great pals with our DD, so we are very much hoping that she will be staying with us for a little holiday when DD is home for her vacation. Im sure she will excel in whatever she chooses to do in future. Enjoy your cruise jlawall - and send our love to Gem and Deepak! Nat:Pinkbounc
