May 8th at the Chef's Table

Love your review! Especially with regards to the wine pairings. Whenever I've reviewed the V&A menus/pairings, I've always thought they'd have to drag me out of there after drinking that much wine. Not the classiest way to end a meal. ;) Oh, sure, I could exercise restraint and not drink the last drop of every glass, but how likely is that? So I appreciate your honesty.

V&A's remains on my "must try" list. What an experience! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all for the encouragement. We always want to do a review when we go to V&A, but sadly never have much of a chance to. We had so much fun with this one though, we'll try to start being more reliable with reviews in the future.

We have done wine pairings successfully in the past, but there is a little known phenomenon called 'first time drinking after having had a spouse who had a baby syndrome'. It's where my wife can't drink, so I stop as well. It turns out that if you take a very extended period off from drinking and complete the pairing, it has a much greater effect. I'll just say I hope nobody working that night remembers anything. Not my proudest moments. We've gone other nights (I remember one in the Queen Victoria Room in particular) where we both ended up doing things we later regretted, me more so than her (not to elaborate too much, but it may have involved cocoa bean maracas). Typically, if we both pair wine, my wife doesn't always finish. And I hate to see it go to waste, so...

I still stand behind the wine pairing. Just maybe not as a first drink after a long stint of sobriety, or after having run a marathon.

Wonderful review!

Thank you for posting it and for sharing your marvelous experience with us. :)
