~May 7, 2011~ 7-night Eastern Caribbean Cruise on the Magic!

I'm also curious whether we are docking or tendering, but I'm not sure. Will that be something we are able to find out beforehand or not?

Also, I posted this in the DCL forum - but I was wondering if you guys know if we are allowed to bring food off of the ship at either of the ports? I bought a softsided cooler because I read somewhere about doing that to pack sandwiches to bring to the beach. But, now I am second guessing myself and wondering if we're even allowed. :confused3

The port schedule for St Thomas isn't available yet.

After input from the participants, I have decided to end the sign up period for the current FE group. It will end with the names listed on post 533. Anyone wishing to participate in a FE exchange after this date should consider initiating another FE group.

Hello all! Were almost there!!! Must start washing ironing(:sad2:) and packing! Still have to figure out what I will wear formal night...and need to find DH a Suit Jacket....Now the FE is closed just need one day of fiddling and that will be done....so things still to wrap up here...I am sure I will be doing things all the way to the last minute!

I am getting so EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Hi jinia! I'm feeling the same way here - and I was just about to ask an opinion from all of you about packing

Do you think that a long sundress (like a maxi dress) is nice enough to wear for semi formal night? Or should I step it up a bit?

We're getting excited here too. The travel channel recently ran their very dated show on DCL but I DVR-ed it and have been watching it repeatedly. My son has already been planning his kids club fun. We've been talking to him about what he wants to do onboard and he claims all he wants to do is stay in the club - not even see mom and dad! :rotfl2:

Only real bummer for us right now is the impending federal government shutdown. As a federal employee I won't be receiving a paycheck if the gov't shuts down. Since we're not sure how long that might last it's a bit of a buzz kill. Trying to not let it bring us down too much, though.

Rusafee I think that would be okay for semi formal night dressed up accessories! I think I am wearing dress slacks and a dressy top for semi....Formal is still what I have to figure out!

Bellanapoli I DVR ed ( what the..should I past tense it or is that already understood....) it to! We have watched it loads to! I am so sorry yall are having to worry about your pay right here before your vacation. I hope it all works out:hug:!

ONE MONTH!!!!!

We have been watching that too! And the DVD that we requested from Disney!!! It's getting us really excited!!!

Sorry about your job, I'll be thinking of you and hoping that everything stays the same for you guys! Loss of job is SO difficult. My DH was out of work for about 6 months last year, but everything turned around and he found a better job afterward!

Everything usually works out :flower3:

Great!! Thanks! I'll have slacks and nice tops too if I feel like only wearing that on semi formal night also. Good to know I wouldn't be the only one in pants! :goodvibes

I am wearing a strapless tea lenght full skirted dress for formal night if it's any help!

I know this sounds random, but I was in Deb Shops with my sister, and they has some of their"prom dresses" marked down, so I bought my dress for formal night on clearance for $11!!!! I would try somewhere like there to see if they have any dresses marked down.

It's obviously not SUPER formal, but it works nicely for me!!!

Thanks. It's really not the end of the world. My job isn't going away, I'll still be working, just for no pay. At some point, it will kick back in again and I'll get the money back. I just don't know for how long it will last. We're really fortunate though, to have weathered this recession pretty well. Lots of people are in much worse situations so we're really grateful that this has been our only set back. It's just a dark cloud hanging over what should be a fun ramp up to vacation!

Good score on the dress, btw. That's a fantastic deal. I still haven't figured out what I'm going to be wearing. I need to do that as we have house guests coming the week before we leave on the cruise. I won't have a lot of time for last minute errands or anything. Thankfully we got all our suitcases out of storage last weekend so I could do an assessment of toiletries etc.

:dance3: One Month! I thought this day would never come. Now 30 days seems like such a short amount of time to get everything done.

We finally figured out our "extra" person who is going with us. My BIL will now join us and we get to be part of a surprise! We are not telling our kids (this is their very favorite uncle!) and we are not telling my MIL. BIL will arrive in Orlando about 30 minutes before we do and he's just going to hang out in the airport and we will walk by him. I can't wait to see MIL's face! Now lets hope we can keep the secret for the next month! :rolleyes1

Another random question (I'm full of them!) DH and I were talking last night and wondered what the chances were that someone else from our cruise might be flying in with us. Anyone else leaving from Kansas City on Southwest the day before the cruise?

Not me - but I am flying out of Pittsburgh International on May 6th! Anyone else?

Not me, we are flying out of St. Louis on May 6th. Where are you all guys staying if you are coming to FL a day before cruise? We are at Country Inns & Suites.

Oh..I'll have slacks too...I'm not a dress girl at all...never been......

Finished all about FE today. Made shipping list, cause I'm sending gifts to the ship, there is no way I would have enough room in our suitcases and I don't want to take another one just for that.

We are travelling on the 27th April as we have 10 nights at a villa before the cruise....:cool1:
Talk about excited.........:rotfl2:  :worship: :yay: :dance3:

Hi Lexa! We live in Kansas City our group of 7 is also staying at the Country Inn and Suites the night before! We plan on going to eat around 4:00 and looking around the area. The men are all going night shark fishing and we are going to end up back at the hotel pool I think. That is, if the kids don't crash out from such a long, exciting day getting there.

We're staying at the Hyatt at the airport. :goodvibes It was more expensive, but since this is our 1st time - we didn't want to risk anything. I am kind of regretting it now, I wish I would have known what our plans were back then... but it's fine. We plan on arriving at 2:15 and then renting a car for the night to go to the Boardwalk or DTD for dinner, then heading back. If I would have known that's what we were doing, I think I probably would have either spent the money and tried a Deluxe (we've never been at a Deluxe) or saved a little and rented a Value

But, whatever! It is what it is! I'm happy either way :thumbsup2

We are getting in late. Our flight lands at Orlando at 8pm. So on the way from MCO to the hotel we will stop and eat, cause kids will be starving and after that we will probably crash in bed too.

Okay, so I was breaking down the FE list into categories and I have 20 cabins. Is that right? I thought we had 21-I got the last addition...:confused3...Just want to make sure!
