May 6, 2006 - 7 nite Western - Anyone Crusing?

Chris,

Can you imagine how the people who are on the next western cruise after 3/25 must be feeling right now? I would be crawling out of my skin not knowing. I guess that once next weekend hits and they don't or do announce any changes then we will know for sure something more concrete or maybe just poured concrete... :confused3

kimaroo, welcome!
I have one question for ya...how did all those employees get the same week off? Must be one big hospital staff to not miss that many people. I do remember that the 5 year age seems to be ruled on this thread by boys, along with the 7 year olds.

I told the girls this morning that we will make the chain link countdown to start 40 days out. This time I'm putting their initials on them so we know whose turn it is. I'll have to make it with light pastel type colors seeing how it will be out with my Easter decorations.

Thanks, everyone for the welcome. Yeah, I saw from the thread there's a lot of boys--that's ok my DD likes playing with the boys best--thinks she's a pirate pirate: The hospital I work for has about 6000 employees-so they won't miss us--well, maybe a little since we're the fun ones
Tried that chain link thing w/my DD about a year ago--she decided if she cut all the links at once then we could leave right away--a girl after my own heart.

I love the chain link countdown idea. I just need to find the time to make and glue all those links together. By the time I get around to doing that, perhaps the cruise will be here.

My dear friend offered to take us to the airport at 3:30am on the day we leave. One more thing I can check off my list!! :thumbsup2

Heather

jillian88, I have the kids cut and glue the links together. It ends up being a fun project to make and they really enjoy ruining it. :teeth: I just make sure that they have the correct amount. WOW 3:30a.m. :faint: We have done that a few times when we took Delta. It is great to have one more thing checked off your list isn't it? Oh, right, I don't have one yet. But there are things I don't have to put on mine when I do one.

kimaroo, I too love your daughters way of thinking! The first trip my youngest was taking to Disney I was crazy enough to start counting down at 110 days on our whiteboard in the kitchen. When it was down to 60 days we did the chain link, oh yeah it was a long chain. But it was fun seeing it get smaller.

Hi Everyone!
Welcome kimaroo and crew! Quite a large group, that will be fun!
I am still trying to work out where we are going to stay and the transportation issue. (sigh) I know for sure we are renting a car on the day we come back and doing "something", either downtown Disney or Kennedy Space center. I was totally bummed when they scrapped the shuttle launch for May! :( But better safe than sorry.

There are all kinds of us going....seniors,adults with children, adults without children..Should be a great cruise.....I started a list but I have lost mymotivation. There is a good packing list under the everything you want to know thread

Lisa(MickeyD): Where do you guys fly out of? I'm not all too familiar with the Tri Cities area... We fly out of Portland and are only about 20 miles from the airport. Still, we have an ooh so early flight time. The time change is what kills us - even with leaving so early, we get into MCO at 4:00pm. At least we can hopefully use the pool at the Raddison and get the kiddos in bed early! We are also hoping to do something after disembarking - perhaps downtown Disney. Our return flight doesn't leave until 5:00pm!

Heather

Heather,
We are flying out of Pasco (one of the tri-cities). The good thing is: it is a very very small airport, so don't have to be there too early. Our flight out leaves at 11:10am so we can get there at 10:30 and be fine. :)
The funny thing is, our flight goes to Denver (where we are originally from) then onto MCO, so we don't get in until 9:30pm! I can't see driving to the port that late at night (no pun intended since I am night blind) :)
So I am trying to find someplace by the airport, I would love the Hyatt for convenience, but the price kills me!
I am thinking DT Dis will be our best bet for the day of return and our flight out is at 6pm!

Lisa

Lisa,
Friends of ours used to live in Pasco, so I do know where that is, just never been there. I didn't realize they had an airport! Cool. Was hoping you didn't have to drive to Yakima or Portland or something like that. Have you checked places like Travelocity or Hotels.com for a place to stay? I am also night blind unless I wear glasses (hence the need for prescription sunglasses!). Since there are 12 of us, we got a stretch limo to take us to the port - WAAAY cheaper than riding the Disney Bus with that many people! We aren't telling the kids about that part, it will be a huge suprise. :cool1:

Good luck in finding a place to stay --better get on it soon!
Heather

Ok, it's getting more real now! We just booked rental car (got one way free through a corporate account) and we booked the new Residence Inn at Cape Canaveral for night prior. Used Marriot rewards for this. I feel stoo-pid because I did not realize the Residence Inn was a Marriott hotel until yesterday. doh! :confused3
We also got our stateroom assignment from Disney...not an upgrade, but oh well.
So now all I need is for May 5th to get here! :cheer2: :bounce: :bounce:

Lisa

Ok, so I made my countdown paper chain with the kids today. I think I should have waited until we had only 30 days left - the thing is like 15 feet long (48 links). :confused3 Good think I have really high ceilings in the family room where I hung it. It turned out so cute and the kids had fun - although they were ready to give up after about 25 links! We made all the links blue and green (like water), at the top I made a replica of the Magic out of black, red, yellow, and white construction paper - from way up there on the wall it looks pretty good. :lmao: just don't look too close!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Way to go Lisa with the free car rental and hotel! :thumbsup2

I started a list and have done some shopping, but that's it. I have also heard good things about Costa Maya. I have stopped worrying about where we are going and am just ready to go! :Pinkbounc

Lists? We're supposed to have lists? :teeth:
I am supposing that we will go to Costa Maya, just because I cannot believe Disney will dock much in Coz if they have to tender all the time. JMHO of course.

It's not work - so I don't care where we dock. :cool1:

I have more than one list - stuff to find, stuff to do, stuff to pack, etc...
things like: find where I put everyones water shoes, see if last years shorts still fit the kids, empty the memory card on the camera...

Costa Maya sounds neat, and I agree with new2cruise - I really don't care, as long as it's not here! :thumbsup2 :sunny:

Okey Dokey... I'm sitiing here with my dd15 who id dying to know if there will be anyone her age in the clubs. We will also be traveling in a large family group with three dd 7's, ds11, dd18, ds19, dd21, dd23, and a whole gang of adoring adults.
So if there are any older teen/young adult cruisers out there make yourself known! We would love to know who's who. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Oo-de-lally Gal: We are traveling with my 16 year old son, so he will be in the teen group as well. Trust me, there will be plenty of teens on the ship and they have a great time! :)

I agree that if we go to CM or Coz, doesn't bother me, I am just looking forward to cruising again! Haven't been since 2003 and I am missing it.

Heather, I need to make some of those lists, I just haven't had time, but I know once we reach the final countdown, I will be furiously running around making sure we have everything.

Lisa

Just found this thread. We are also traveling on the May 6, 2006 Western cruise. :cool1:
This is our third Disney Cruise. There will be 6 of us cruising:
me, dh, dd21, dd19, dd16, ds13. pirate:
