May 6, 2006 - 7 nite Western - Anyone Crusing?

I'm not buying anything for myself until the last minute. Trying to shed every little ounce of weight by the cruise I can. I will not go in a moo-moo! I'm hoping that what I own will be too big for me to wear so I will need to buy some new things.

DD's will probably wear skirts and sun dresses. My older DD has those new black pants with the wide bottoms, those look so cute on her, she has those to wear a night too. Probably have to get her a new long black skirt for her spring band concert so she'll have that too. Plus whatever I get them for Easter. Probably some capris also. Have to get them some that are not jeans though.

DH will probably wear his Dockers with a button down shirt or his nice no-collar shirts with his jacket. That really makes him look italian. :thumbsup2
He might wear his suit for formal night, not sure though.

We love dressing for dinner! For most casual nights, DH just wears khakis and a polo--no different than what he wears to work at home. I start collecting sundresses and I usually wear those on casual nights. I did get him a tropical shirt for pirate night--we'll see if he wears it!

For semi-formal and formal nights, DH wears his suit. I just bring 2 different shirts and ties to go with. I have a gown for formal night and a cocktail dress for semi-formal nights.

I love formal dresses, and this seems like my only chance to do it! Once the proms ran out, there really isn't much excuse to get all dressed up, so this is part of why I love cruising!

Hello Disney Cruisers!

We made a last minute decision to cruise on the 6th of May! Our first cruise! Can't wait. I just read all of your posts and can't imagine the waiting you have been through. I guess there are some advantages to last minute planning. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

You're about to have a life experience you'll talk about for years to come! :thumbsup2

Glad you could make it! :goodvibes

BTW - What's a "Hokie"?? :worried:

Packed (almost!) and ready to ride!! Let's GO!!!! :moped:

Welcome Hokie!

The waiting has been killing me...and I just booked in December. I can only imagine what those who booked early feel. :scratchin

I have a DD7 also, not too many girls that age, seems that boy rule that age.

This is our first Disney cruise too.

You will find a bunch of information on these boards and any questions just ask.

Happy planning! :cool1:

Welcome Hokie!

Yes, the waiting has been hard but it has gone faster than I thought. WE booked Feb. 2005. These last two months will probably drag!

We have a DD8 and twin DS's5. What fun this will be! This is also our first Disney cruise.

We booked Feb 2005, too. The time has flown by, though! At first I was all over these boards but then I had to basically not think about it for a while until it got closer. Now I am getting excited again since it's so close!!

And packing? Really? Oh man. I've bought a few things that I think I'll use on the cruise but haven't come close to actually organizing or packing or making a list. I think I'll get started on that soon! (Or, I'd like to, but realistically it will be more like the week before we go, when I'll panic because I don't have all the stuff I need!)

Thanks for the warm welcome!

JCFowler, my husband and I both went to Virginia Tech - The Hokie bird(a fighting gobler) is our mascot. Strange, I know! :scratchin
We are such die-hard fans that we named our boat Hokie Crews-In.

Anyway, I am so excited for this cruise that I can't stand it. I have been all over e-bay the last few days. Gymboree has so many fun lines for little girls(pool party, splash and bon voyage.) I never pay full price for Gymboree, but I have found some good deals on e-bay. :cheer2:

My little girl, Madison, would love to e-mail your girls Jillane88 and Mazzarafe. If your interested let me know.

Happy Sunday!

can you believe how close it is? I can not find my passport (i used it on my Costa Cruise lst march) and have been freaking out about it..NO MORE! I called Disney and said my birth certificate and marriage license would be fin....Once March 1 comes around, i plan onn starting my lists (packing, things to do before) and such...Has anyone else done this?

Amy,

Starting a list today is a good idea. I'll probably have one at my desk at work and one at home. The only things that I have what you would considered packed are on my dresser...my map of Key West! I so need to go on the ball.

We have to get my DH a new suit, his are in dire need of being retired.

I have done something important in the preparing to be gone for a week. I've booked the birds to be boarded with the vet, now I need to see if my brother is going to house/dog sit for me.

I think in another 2 weeks I'll be more in "cruise mode" once DD's swimming lessons are over. We go 2 nights a week and that takes away alot of the time I would have planning...for now.

Time to get out the carry on. That always gets me going. :hyper:

About a month ago I thought I better get out the passports and put them in my Disney Cruise file. I couldn't find them anywhere. I lost sleep and tore the house apart for days and then I finally found them. DH and I took a cruise 2 years ago and our passports were still with our documents from that cruise - burried deep in my closet. They are now safe in the Disney file along with the kids birth certificates.

I am a huge list person, so I think I'll start making mine too now that it is March 1st. Great idea! :thumbsup2

jcfowler,

The worst part is not knowing!!! Just say it DCL. Apparently they have some pencil pusher in corporate that won't allow it. But for some strange reason some in the know, know, while others are in the dark. I know I mentioned it before, but on some of the sites that I went to looking for cruise prices about a week or so ago, they listed Costa Maya not Cozumel for our itinerary.

I just want to be able to book the excursion to take my girls to swim with the dolphins. Cannot due it without Disney announcing the change and opening up the excursions for booking. Very, very frustrating. :headache:

But the more I think of it, this is pure Disney fashion. Waiting until the last minute to say what everyone has already been saying. They do this all the time with the parks so why would the cruiseline be any different.

Ok, rant over. :teeth:

I got a reply form DCL today on the the Cozumel/Costa Maya question. Answer was " We don't know". Don't they have to know by now where we are going? Why not just say?

Packing the night before a trip? How dare ya? :rotfl2: I sit here packing for our quick jaunt down to visit the Mouse for ESPN weekend as we speak... And oh yeah, we leave in the AM... Oops. :) Struggling w/ what to pack though. Will I burn up or freeze??? Argh, but oh well there is lots of shopping in the land of the Mouse.....

The cruise is 9 weeks and 2 days AWAY!!!!!!!!! YIPPIE!!!!!!!!! :) How formal is everyone getting for the formal night??? I'm not a long gown kind of girl, reminds me of all those weddings I was a bridesmaid in.. :) I've got a cute cocktail dress that I'm planning on wearing, but we didn't have a formal night on our Wonder cruise, so I'm not sure.....

Anybody dressing up for POTC night??? Hubby, who is so not the dressing up kind, has got a full Jack Sparrow outfit... I'm shocked. Do lots of folks dress up?????

Off to finish packing!!!! See you all in 9 weeks!!!!!!!!!! :D

Lori

Lori,
That helps..I think i will try to find my hubby an outfit as wel. I hope you guys have a wonderful trip far far away..Say hi to mickey for me....in one week, it will be less than 2 months before the trip..can you tell im excited?
amy

Hey Lori,

Formal night includes many "extremes" from simi-formal (old folks in double-knit starvation army leasure suits) to Cinderella (my wife of 31 years!). I've found the easiest thing to do is contact a company such as cruiseline formalwear and RENT a suit. It is delivered to the ship before you arrive and they even have a tailor onboard to alter it if you happen to "gain weight" from eating 24/7. :lmao:

From the "rumor" board there is a large belief among many Disney will soon be offering Mediterranean cruises AND add a new ship exclusively for the left-coast of the US. All I ask is don't take away my boats! I haven't been on the Eastern Caribbean cruise. (I'm still looking for Jack Sparrow!!) pirate:

People get ready!! We're shipping out REAL SOON! My wife made me unpack again yesterday. :( Maybe she won't read this and I can sneak back in the guest room and pack AGAIN!! Shhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! :scared:

Bye!

I would love to dress quite formal but DH won't want to. He doesn't even own a suit jacket and won't want to spend the money to rent a tux. I will wear a "little black dress" and get DH to wear black slacks, white shirt and a tie of some sort. I bought a cute black and white dress for DD8 but I don't know what to do for my twin DS5..... they don't have black pants, just navy or khaki and don't have any black dress shoes, only brown. :scratchin

would love to hear what everyone else is planning. I think it would be tons of fun to dress up for POTC pirate: , but so far nothing is planned.

Heather

We cruised a year ago and loved the POTC party...We didnt dres up but DH bought a bandana and a pirate shirt in Cozumel. I think he dress up more this time. My niece and nephew (3 and 5) are getting excited..I hope we can find them something to wear. Has anyone been to Costa Maya. I know its not confirmed, but my TA told us we were going there

I have not been to Costa Maya but my mom has on her last cruise and she liked it better than Cozumel. My TA (who is a very good friend) said Costa Maya is known for it's gorgeous beaches and is more jungle-like and is much nicer than Cozumel. I'll just have to take everyones word on this one. :sunny:
