Back from our cruise....
Had a great time of course but a few things were not so great:

1) Character interaction: No Aurora, No Genie, No Jasmine..No autograph session with the long table of characters. Tons of repeat characters. No Captain Jack on Pirate Night (he showed up the next day)

2) The new crew onboard are no where near as good as the crew from last September 11 night sailing (entertainment staff only)

3) At the 70's night parties only 4 male cruise staffers were there. They were so boring. Pikey is now on entertainment staff and he is not friendly at all.

4) Our cabin was sooooooo cold we kept the temp control all the way up to the hot level and still had to call guest service 2 times to get it fixed. It was fixed for one day then freezing again. Oh well

5) No balloon drop at Till we Meet Again in atrium.

6) Topsiders breakfast menu never changed the whole trip

7) Goofys galley special was repeated twice

8) They switched out several beer brands on tap to get ready for the Med sailing.

I really feel like our cruise lacked some things due to the staff preparing to go to the Med.
We still had a great trip, but no where near as good as our last few cruises.

I was on the same cruise and agree with most of the assessment here.
As for Pikey, he was friendly to us only because our tablemates were with us on Pub night and they are from the UK as well. I also helped him out on his "six degrees of separation" so he was pleased. :) He is leaving the ship for several months and he is engaged! He will be returning in 8 weeks to the Wonder, I believe he said.

I was really irritated with the whole Captain Jack thing. Why wasn't he there during Pirate night? We asked at GS and they said he wasn't appearing, then went into Shutters the next night and there are photos of him everywhere with guests! When did he appear? We did corner him on CC, but never saw him on ship.

I told Disney in my comments that if they were going to have rules about certain things, then enforce them. We ran over numerous kids in Beat Street long after 9pm. There was an 8 or 9 year old in Pub night for goodness sakes!
People showed up to dinner at Lumiere's in shorts and flip flops! Kids were hanging out by the adult pool, it was quite frustrating. Oh and at Brunch in Palo there was a guy with flip flops!

Our stateroom was always cold too. I had to keep a blanket on while in there.

We had a great trip though.

I am just curious when you cruised before and had a balloon drop at the Till we meet again. We have always had the silver Mickey heads.

On our March 2007 7 night they did balloons....can't remember but I think also on the 11 night last September.
They are starting to run together

Our Cabin was so warm we called guest services several times and finally gave up. We really didn't interact much with the crew at all, our DS was so exhausted that we wound up back in the room early every night. Hopefully our next cruise he will be able to tolerate all the pool and kids club activities without getting so exhausted he is falling asleep between 2 chairs at dinner.

Our room was warm too. The balloon drop was on our last cruise from LA in June 2005. I also agree that this cruise wasn't as nice as our previous ones. They were doing maintenance on our room the whole time we were there. We'd come back every day and the curtains were missing, they were painting on the verandah and sanded the railing down, the shower curtains were missing, etc..... We did have the nicest room steward though! (IKE)

We're booked for a western in May 2008. Did you think this was a nice time of year to go? We were contemplating switching to a late oct cruise but I assumed May would be ideal. (we'll have a 1 and 3 year old)

May was a really nice time to be on the ship, we had beautiful weather in every port. Castaway Cay was a little windy but not so bad that it wasn't enjoyable. They just couldn't do some of the excursions.

October is a very nice time of year too though. If you enjoy sunsets and sunrises October is usually a more beautiful time of year to see those. (I don't know if that helps but I figured I would put it out there).

The Magic is going into dry dock in November of this year so it will be very spruced up for your May trip. I believe I read that they are putting in a splash park for the little ones which should be nice.

Either time of year, I hope you have a blast.

The weather was just perfect and I think at the beginning of May it's cheaper to cruise too. (maybe not as cheap as Oct because it''s still hurricane season then)

i agree with some of the others as far as it wasnt as much as what we expected but yet we had a good time. the crew seemed to be more focused and the next week cruise then the current one and i found that to be rude in itself..if they needed time to prepare they should have not had a cruise that week period..but oh well life goes on..just something to report. i thought may was a wondreful time for the cruise..not to hot and even though we expected rain off and on the entire trip it seemed to have missed us everyday or hit when we was just leaving ports or overnite.

i'm glad i wasnt the only one with the cold room though..i kept turning ours warmer and warmer and we ended up keeping our balcony door open most days just to warm it up in the room. we never reported it but we did report our handle on the balcony door being broke and they replaced that..we also had the workers in and out of our room a few times..my question to my husband was why does disney do that knowing they have people on board..if something like that is important then why wasnt it done while the ship was on dry dock for that week and they knew they wouldnt be interupting their CUSTOMERS vacation. found that kind of rude on disney's part myself. I have not sent in a feedback to disney yet but do plan on it about some of these minor things as we all paid good money for our trips and that didnt include having the workers in our rooms doing minor work on the paint and such.
sorry didnt mean to go off on a rant..will shut up now..but for the record even though these were minor things we did enjoy the trip tremendously.
