May 5th 2007 Western Magic CINCO DIS MAYO!

ok i was thinking the same thing on the time change..:rotfl2: we are anxious as well...but dd is sick again with the flu this time around.. she has been running a fever and not eating anything today...and she asked me to insert the popcorn for her..:rotfl2: popcorn::

Sorry to hear she is sick! Bummer, it seems like everyone is getting it this year! Well get it out of everyone's system before we sail...right? :)

Here's a get well flower for her! :flower3:

Lisa

Thanks for the quick response. dh and I were talking on our little trip and those questions I didn't have answers for.

I definitely don't want my dd (swear she has to be blonde somewhere, and she will never be an accountant) charging priviledges. Don't get me wrong, I love her but thinking on her feet :teacher: is NOT her strong point. :rotfl2: Must have gotten that from dh's side of the family. :rolleyes1

Boy, we are keeping these boards hot these days. :lmao:

I really want to go cruise now too! Me and DH went to DL today and hung out for awhile. Didn't ride anything. It was packed. Special Disability Families day or something going on. So we just had brunch at House of Blues DTD and walked it off at Calif Adv. afterwards, sat on a bench in the rain and watched people til the sun came out from behind the clouds, then went over to DL and had ice cream sundaes and watched the parade, and then back to CA for jalapeno pretzels and corn dogs! Ok... not good for dieting. I did tell the people next to me at the parade that they NEED to take their kids on a Disney Cruise!

Going back tomorrow with DS's GF. Hopefully everyone will be back at school and work! I want to win something from the Million Dreams team!

Whew, I'm glad I don't have to think about the charging privilege issue. Devin won't even be getting his KTTW card.

I'm excited about the cruise too, but I've been distracted researching Alaska cruises. Dear mom advised me yesterday that she and dad want to take an Alaska cruise THIS summer and she wants me to plan it :scared1: If the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, I must be adopted! :scared: Like many of you I booked immediately when the schedule opened, not just a few months prior. But I kept my mouth shut, came home, put Devin to bed and stayed up til 4am researching what I already knew would be the case - very little left and definitely the least desireable balcony cabins. I told her today and she insists there is availability because she gets "stuff in the mail all the time". Sure mom, the cruise line will gladly take your $$$ and let you sail for the same price in the crap cabins that are left, if you are willing to do so. :rolleyes1 Oh and she wants the inside passage not the outside one. :rotfl: If I'm planning it, they are cruising in 2008!

Ok done venting now. It's 1am and I've got a bit more researching to do before I hit the hay!

When you board, after lunch I have read that some go to the pools. Do you have to have your suit on under your clothes or is there some place to change?

:rotfl2:

On our last cruise, the kids wore their bathing suits under their clothes.....we headed up to the buffet lunch and took our trays of food out by the pools to eat while the kids swam! (they ate REAL fast, so they could get into the pool first!!!!) It was very nice and very UN-crowded!!!

Hi Soon To Be Fellow Cruisers!!!
DH has had a sinus infection for over a month now. The last time he went to the doctor they gave him a heavy duty antibiotic and told him to quit taking the sudafed because it was effecting his blood pressure. So they gave him a prescription. That was 2 weeks ago. His head is still packed, his ears still have not popped and he is cranky! It is truly amazing how many people are having sinus problems right now.
I still haven't decided about what we will do when we board the ship. Lunch for sure, but since it is our first cruise, I considered touring the ship to get a feel of things. I am sure Madison would like nothing better than to swim though!!! Would I be able to get her out of the pool for our meet though?
Sherrie, thanks for the chain idea. Madison is so excited when she gets to tear off a chain. On the last chain I wrote YIPPEEEE it's time to go!! And she makes sure every day that chain is still there!:rotfl2:
Debbie, I have been wanting to go to DL so bad the last week!! We had to go to Santa Ana to get our taxes done yesterday:sad2: and I wish we would have brought our passes. Maybe I will just pick a day and go by myself. I so much rather go in the middle of the week this time of year, no crowds!! Plus I wanted to find some things for Madison's birthday. I just can't tell her I am going!:rolleyes1
Why is May taking so long to get here?:confused3
Karen

Karen....the parks were empty today when I went back. We rode all the good rides in both parks and had a nice lunch at Cafe Orleans and bought some brownies and treats home to the boys. I finally rode Maliboomer! I don't know why I was so paranoid to try it. It is so tame compared to TOT!
When is Madison's birthday? If I don't start working soon, maybe I can meet you there one day. I have to call about a job tomorrow.

They have so much pirate stuff at DL now that it's almost overkill. It's in all the stores and 2 or 3 dedicated just to pirate stuff. Great for people that need to buy stuff for the cruise though.

This is the best time of year to go in the middle of the week! I have never been on Maliboomer. And I do so enjoy TOT:banana: I haven't been on many of the roller coasters, usually because Madison is with us and besides being "short":rotfl2: she really only likes Splash Mountain.
Madison's birthday is March 23rd. So I have some time left. I did buy her pirate outfit at one of those Pirate stores.
How is the Alaskan Cruise planning going Kim?
Madison and I ordered our Mickey Mouse crocs today. We got Pink..........:confused3 It wasn't my first choice but I am the "spoiler" Nana!:lmao: But I might have to buy something that will go with pink shoes.......

my poor Dh also has a sinus infection which he's ahd for weeks now. He at last went to see our Doctor yesterday and he's given him anti-biotics so I hope that helps!

Best wishes to all of the poorly people out there from over the sea!

Its wet and windy here today in the UK, but I decided to go swimming to try at least and get a little fitter before our cruise....it wasn't like swimming in the caribbean that's for sure!:rolleyes1

we all got it in our house now..dd had the flu over the weekend and ds,dh and i all have sinus infections going.

i still need to find something piratey for ds,dh and i but havent found anything yet...might end up looking for something on our trip down to floirda since we arent near anyplace that sells stuff like that. our local disney store didnt even have much for choices.

I'm knocking on wood right now that we haven't gotten sick this season. Not sure how we escaped it given the weather (though my hands have actually cracked I'm washing so much) but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Devin has a slight runny nose and instead of blowing does the most annoying sucking in - :scared: It could be far worse.
I hope everyone is feeling much better soon. :flower3:

Madznana: Thanks for asking about the Alaska planning. Been spending time on cruise critic hoping that parents will choose to cruise in 2008. I just can't do the planning in such a short time and my mom doesn't know how to work a computer nor does she have the desire to learn. Plus I know that going this summer they would have to settle in many respects and for the $$$ the trip will cost, should take the time to plan it right. Their trips to Austrailia, Hawaii and various cruises to the Caribbean have been taken with friends who did the planning for them. The Alaska schedules aren't out yet, probably April but I'm hoping they'll decide where they want to go. Man the cruise critic sight seems to be in critical condition - running really slow, lots of people complaining about the time for the screen to change, unable to post before freezing and timing out, etc. I hope they get it fixed. Its my favorite site for all non-disney cruises and lots of info on specific ports.

BLTOH: Re Pirate outfits -
I got Devin a pirate outfit from Disneyshopping.com - the glow in the dark skelton kind, not the real POC kind. It's too big unfortunately but they didn't have smaller so I'm keeping it and will try to have it hemmed or something. I may just get that iron on hem stuff and do it myself (don't own a sewing machine). I have since noticed costumes on Ebay. You may want to do a search.

Speaking of EBay, I'm going to order DH a pirate shirt off of EBAY. He can wear it with black pants that will do double duty, the bandana that DCL gives out and an eye patch I bought at Halloween. That will be good enough.

For me, there were some nice authentic Renaissance Fair type Pirate outfits on EBay, but no way I was paying the $$$ for them. So I decided to improvise. I have a long red silk skirt (ball gown style) that I'm wearing for formal night that is going to do double duty. But a long black a-line skirt would work too. I found an off the shoulder poet type shirt at TJMax for $15 and instead of a buying high priced bodice or waist cincher off EBay I went to the Kohls lingerie dept and got a waist cincher on sale for $13. Its got a zipper instead of ties, but for $13, I'll stick a ribbon on it. I have various scarves/wraps that I can drape over the skirt for a layered look. I'll add the DCL bandana and an eye patch and it'll be good enough.

Take a look around your house. Surprisingly, you may already have some items you need to put together a pirate outfit. I did!

This has been the first time amber has been this sick and has been a bad month all the way around..came home from work today to dh telling me she is vomitting now..:sad1: i feel soo bad for her as she is saying her tummy hurts (mainly from coughing so much ) then we had to wash her "tickle blankie" and she was in tears without it:laundy: so that is being dried right now so she has it for bedtime. i didn't even go to my kickboxing class tonite as i feel like crap but i figure i am not eating much myself so the weight loss is still going for me:rotfl2:

We got amber a pirate outfit at halloween and she will wear that. i might just find some POC t-shirts of some sort to wear with black pants. With the deck party that same nite would that be ok to do for that evening for dinner? i know its not very casual dress but figured it would be more piratey themed then dressing in polos and such.

Poor thing! Hopefully she gets better soon and it won't spread to everyone. Devin had rotovirus once and it went through our entire family. He was so sick I wanted to cry, then I got it, DH got it, my parents, my sister. It was the worst "flu" type thing I'd ever had and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

I hadn't thought about the Pirate T - but I bet my DH would prefer that.

I just got a catalog in the mail today from the company I bought DH's pirate shirt. And wouldn't you know it, it is now $15.00 cheaper!! They have med., large and x-large left in case any one is interest the site is http://catalogfavorites.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=V0109+M
I have a POTC t-shirt I though I would wear, maybe with capri's.pirate:
Get well everyone!

I can't get the link to work. Can you say the name of the place and I'll try googling it?

Not sure if you saw the posts on the main cruise board, but Disney has fired the current contractor for the parasailing at CC. I went to our DCL cruise plans and it does not show anymore as a booked excursion?? Can someone else check and let me know if it is still showing on your cruise plans? They are hoping to hire someone else, but I am not sure if they are just going to drop it completely.

Sorry to hear everyone is sick! I hope everyone gets feeling better soon!

Lisa

I just checked mine, and parasailing is still there as a registered excursion.

Sending loads of pixie dust to all that are not well. :tink: Get well soon.

My parasailing is still listed too! :woohoo:

I hope everyone is starting to feel much better! :flower3: Remind them how soon we go. That should perk everyone into good health!
