May 5th 2007 Western Magic CINCO DIS MAYO!

I'm curious too because now our ressie says come back on February 18th and I had calculated the 19th. :confused3 As for why this info wasn't there before, my guess is even though I made my final payment to Costco, they had not sent it (or DCL hadn't processed it) at the time I looked.

I got my Passporter today. FINALLY! :woohoo:

And congrats Karen(KY)! Its totally official now. We'll definitely have the kids meet up at he hotel. The only bummer is in order to get cheaper airfare now we don't get in until 5 pm, so we won't get to the Radisson until about 7pm. But my guess is Devin will be up a bit late since he'll sleep on the plane (late nap). The only thing I'll have to do is leave the family and get to Walmart before it closes that night. Hopefully, they will switch you to main seating when we get our docs. Maybe I'll call DCL because if we say we want to link that may increase your chances, but I'm not sure. If not, we'll do it on the ship. We are getting to port around 10 am.

As for excursions, I don't know about Key West. We may skip it. If Devin is potty trained and wants to play in a less crowded pool, we are skipping it. If we have to avoid the pool, we'll get off the ship. I was looking at posts regarding the electric cars, but we won't have a carseat or a booster, are they safe/legal without them?

Grand Cayman: we booked the Soto's Stingray City and snorkel trip since it had lots of positive reviews on cruise critic and the cayman activity guide message boards. Its cheaper than DCL and most important there is no age restriction. 2 hours for $35 per adult. Devin is free. I can't remember the child price. Gear, punch, fresh water rinse included. For the afternoon we are taking a helicopter tour over Stingray City (and hopefully over the Magic). I received an email saying there was availability but I haven't received a confirmation yet, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. This tour also got good reviews on cruise critic.

Cozumel: I'm thinking Playa Mia. Its $12 as opposed to Paradise Beaches $8 for use of the water toys, etc. but there is a pool. I haven't booked yet, I keep going back and forth. I wanted to do the Dolphin Encounter but Devin is too young for DCL's tour. Dolphin Discovery allows under 3 but most of the space is reserved for the ships and the only time I could book was 3:30 - I don't think so.

CC: I think we'll go to the far end of the family beach and plant our butts in a chair. Brian and Devin can play in the water or make mud castles while I order a fruity frosty beverage with some exotic name. I'd like to go parasailing but if I can't get a ressie, no big deal. Dh doesn't like heights so I know he wont do it. But parasailing is SOOOO much fun!

Whew! I've been thinking about this stuff for months and it just occurred to me that I have a lot more work to do. I need to get booking.

Karen(Madisonznana): I hope you're feeling better soon. Sometimes sprains are worse than breaks IMHO (I've had both). So take care of yourself.

As for trip reviews, I also recommend suzynuprin's entitled Lost luggage, sick kids, etc. Its a very honest (and therefore HILARIOUS) account. Is sleepydog's the one with the painted toenails? If so that is funny tool.

I read both of those trip reports too. (and quite a few others) Which is why I can't seem to lose weight! I am always reading these boards. Oh... and don't even start reading the Cruise Meets for the Eastbound Repo. Thought I'd check in there and see what they are doing, and it's over 600 pages already. The post about 140 pages a day! I'm kind of glad we don't have that many people on our cruise. I'd be a blimp reading 140 pages a day! (and blind!)

Mnana....hope your ankle heals quicky! Here's something to watch if you haven't seen it yet! I want the Magic Mirror!

don't forget us on the hotel meet:yay: ..did you sign up for the shuttle over to the port as well?

hubby just told me yesterday that all he cares about is getting his butt in line for the signing up of the couples massage we want..:rotfl2: and so far thats the only thing we won't be able to do ahead of time. :sad2:

How's everyones weekend going? I have been working several 12 hr shifts this week and had to work today as well so i havent had a chance to check the disney site yet. I am in the process of doing our dreaded taxes and the software isnt being very nice to me this time around.

My weekend is going pretty quick..tomorrow i plan on doing our shirts up and doing the ymca..its been bitter cold out here in ohio so i am not wanting to go out if i can help it.

Tracy...you can book the couples massage online too!

Woo hoo! It's 12:30am and I just booked my Palo Dinner for 6pm Monday night (formal night) and Palo Brunch for Key West morning at 10:30pm.

Also booked Eco Tour at Castaway Cay, Jeep Tour in Coz, and Butterfly Farm and Island tour in Grand Cayman. Key West will will do on our own. Now I can go back to sleep peacefully!

I'm with you on the cold. It was 11 degrees yesterday, below 0 with the wind chill, brrrrrrrrr. We won't forget ya at the hotel. Maybe all the kids and splish splash in the pool together.

I'm renting a car so I won't be signing up for the shuttle. I'm going to drop the family (and luggage) at the port. I'm thinking of leaving around 9:30 ish, then go to the rental car company and take a shuttle back so I'll be back to the port around 10. I just don't know how long that will take. My other idea is to arrive at 10, park the car and take the car back after we check in because DH won't want to babysit Devin and the luggage without me. I don't know if this is possible. I should post this question, I guess.

Debbie, glad you got your ressies. Did you get your first choice for everything?

Tracy...you can book the couples massage online too!

well the one we want says you can only book on the ship..soo thats what we will be doing but i am highly impressed dh volunteered to go and stand in line to make sure we get it. :thumbsup2

we should all go together and rent a limo to take us there that morning..:rotfl2: wouldn't that be awesome. we have thought about just driving our van and leaving it there but not sure we want to deal with paying for parking there..but who knows we may end up just driving there before its said and done:rotfl2:

i got dd all signed up for her thing and dh says no to palo...he seems to think we would have to pay 200 - 400 for a meal i was like noooo :rotfl: but he still says no he just wants the massage..and the massage we want to get is the ultimate indulgence one.. its got the deep pentrating massage that dh wants. :rolleyes1 ...well i am off to work on my sewing projects today and go to the ymca..noone has called me yet to go shopping so sounds like i may be staying home other then the ymca..woohoo

And I didn't have to get up early.
Got everything I went for, and I even sprang for a Palo brunch. :)

I went with the White Knuckle Thrill Boat in KW (remember, I have a teen)
The Pirate encounter in GC, and Tulum excurision in Coz. We are also parasailing on CC.
I also got the Alone Time in the spa for the second sea day.:cool1:
We went with Palo Brunch on Monday, first sea day, but won't do dinner...I just wasn't that impressed. But want to keep an open mind for dinner.

The passporter does not really give you a good idea of the menu. But check on castaway club dot com (eliminate spaces and put in .) they have an actual Palo brunch menu.
Ours is scheduled for 11:30 Monday so if anyone wants to join us that would be fun!

Lisa

Btw, Is anyone taking the DCL busses back to the airport on our last day? I was thinking about doing this because A. we can check in at port (United) and B. we have a fairly early flight so would need to get there shortly after we dock anyway. C. then we don't have to drive!

Just wondering if anyone else was looking at this option. I think we will still rent a car for the trip out to the port just because we have a free Avis rental and we are preferred members so don't have to stand in line to check in.

Anyone?

i didnt find it on the castaway site...i looked there first.. havent looked in the passporter book yet...dh says dinner but i don't think i want to do dinner myself..i don't know..think i will book the brunch and go from there...have to see if monday is at sea or not if it is maybe i will schedule us for the same time as you gys and we can enjoy an adults brunch together.

Well, I didn't get up on purpose to book. I always get up around that time to make a bathroom stop anyways, so just left my computer on their website and refreshed the page when I got up to go! Everything was available.

We didn't book Palo brunch for Monday, since we are doing dinner there that night and that is just waaaaayyyy too much food for one day. Figured if we booked it for Key West morning, we could walk it off in port!

We didn't do Palo dinner last time, but did brunch and it is wonderful!
We did High Tea last time, but decided we didn't need to do that this time!
Hope everyone else gets what they want too! I can't believe it's finally getting close! The only thing I have left to take care of is booking our transportation from home to LAX and back.

well only thing they had available for brunch was sunday while in a key west which wont work and thrusday the last day at sea at 1030am..i decided to just forgo the palo altogether though..we got to talking and decided to just wait and if we decide to then maybe see if we can get it once onboard otherwise we really arent too interested. :confused3

Tracy,
As far as Palo goes, I never understood the big hoopla over it. That is why we aren't even booking for dinner this time. I was so uncomfortable in there last time and our server wasn't helpful at all, but I wanted to try brunch in case it is better or different or whatever. Monday is our first at sea day btw.
You should be able to make ressies at Palo once onboard, or try the site later as some people will cancel and change things around a lot. If you can get in on Monday at 11:30 let me know and we can try and book a table together if you want. Anyone else?

Lisa

I am so jealous. Apparently there won't be any Palo Brunch by the time us 1st timers sign up.:sad2:
I am just home from teaching my quilt class and I can't believe the weather. It is supposed to be winter and I want winter.(See me stamping my foot right here!!!) Maybe not 0 degrees but 86 is ridiculous for February. I know some of you in colder climates think I am crazy but I just would like to have four seasons. I grew up in NJ and after a zillion years I still don't enjoy CA. But enough about me. I had just about talked myself into trying Palo, only the brunch, but still. It doesn't sound like there is going to be any time left at all unless they hold some spots back. Is this possible?
Well it is Super Bowl Sunday, one of my favorite days, so have fun all.:cheer2: :cheer2:

Go to the castaway site and on the first page scroll down under menus, food and drink and you can find the menu for Palo brunch. I can't figure out how to link it here...sorry. It has pictures and the menu.

tell ya what i would be glad to give you our weather its only in the single digits right now..we had a high of like 13 today and we are getting this all week this week yet before we hit the 20's for a high...i am sooo looking forward to may right now :rotfl2:

ok that way worked..the way i went into only showed me pictures not the menu...i told hubby about the reviews that i have come across and he said lets forget it for now and go from there :confused3 but i agree..especially if the service isnt there. it's really no biggie to me anyways as i know we will have to eat with dd anyways just to get her to sit down and eat and not starve herself all day..she has been known to do that when she gets excited and we aren't with her to settle her down and get her to eat.

:offtopic: well kind off topic from our cruise..i thought i would check to see how much the 15 nite repo from cali to florida would be in august of 08 and i got a reply today saying that disney said that cruise is completely sold out now.

Madisonznana.....
I am soooo enjoying this 86 degree weather! That's why I like Calif. Friday it was 60 today 86!

I am sure they must hold some spots in Palo to be booked at the 75day mark also. Keep trying. I looked at the dinner menu and nothing really sounds all that exciting to me, but since this will probably be our last Disney cruise decided to try it. There is sooo much to eat at the brunch. I would definately try to get in if you can.

I agree about the hoopla though.....for what everyone says about it, our first experience there wasn't all spectacular. (I am talking servers, not food...the food was excellent at brunch)

Hey.....Super bowl fans....(I'm not, I just like the commercials) Did you see the Doritos commercial at the supermarket? Funny, but kind of nasty. I guess I shouldn't be surprised with all the stuff they put on TV nowadays!
