May 5th 2007 Western Magic CINCO DIS MAYO!

Kim, On the DCL site, it says: 105 days before the cruise for concierge,
90 days for Castaway Cay members, and 75 days for new cruisers.
And maybe can we iron a design on a nicer shirt. It could be on the back and the front would still look good for embarkation pictures. Not that I have anything against saying who we are, it is just another idea added the zillions of other things we need to make decissions about!:rotfl2:
karen

At least this is a fun way to keep ourselves occupied and pass the time along faster. I did buy some magnets for the door but haven't made them yet.

Ok, in regards to the check in stuff: I went online to DCL and my check in date says: Feb 3rd (being a repeat cruiser), Then it would stand to reason that all first timers can then start reserving on Feb 18th...since there is 15 days difference.

They have done some upgrades on the "my disney cruise' site and it was a lot of fun just surfing around. You can even pull up a Palo menu! There is also virtual tours of parts of the ship.

Plus there are several more excursions listed than any I have seen elsewhere.

I wish I was more creative and could pen a nickname for our group, there are quite a few on this board (cruise meets), so maybe someone more creative than I can take some liberties and adjust one of the ones already out there?
We're sailing on Cinco De Mayo, and going to Mexico....?, May Day? Spring Fling? Boatload of hotties? ha ha...well when we all lose all the weight we are losing, we will be! :goodvibes

Lisa

Come on everybody, throw out some names for our dis group..How about

Cinco DIS Mayo 2007 Cruise :rotfl2:

I didn't even realize we would be sailing on Cinco De Mayo! I was just keeping in my head that our Anniv. is the 1st and DH's B'day is the 13th!

We will be staying at the Airport Hyatt also. I think our flight gets in around 6 something. Karen.....where are you flying from? (madznana)

As for booking Palo, last time as a first time cruiser we had no problem booking brunch and high tea at 75 days out. We didn't even try for dinner because we wanted to experience the dining rotation dinners.
Brunch was excellent and high tea was pretty good too. This time trying for dinner on Formal night and brunch on the other sea day. I really don't want to do Palo brunch and dinner on the same day. So if I can't get the other sea day then I think they offer it on Key West morning also. That would be ok, since we'd be walking it off after getting off at KW!

Last time we did a lot of walking around doing nothing on the ship, but this time I want to try going to more activities. Sometimes my DH and DS can be party poopers. They told me to book the excursions and they'll just follow me wherever!

Where are you doing the Helicopter ride at?

Cinco DIS Mayo 2007 Cruise

That sounds like a good name to me! I'm not good at ironing on T-shirts though. Actually I don't even iron!

i kind of like that one too  i may embroider on ours..just depends on how much time i get to do it but i have t-shirt transfer here already to go..:thumbsup2..on the hotties one though i don't think our guys will want to wear that one:rotfl2: will keep thinking other ones for now but so far the one above i like the best. :thumbsup2

i did ask dh about the meeting at the mickey pool versus in the promenade lounge and he said he prefer the promenade lounge or somewhere away from the water as he definitely does not plan on letting dd in the pools that first day we board :rotfl2: :confused3

See? You guys are more creative than me! I love the Cinco DIS Mayo idea! Why didn't I think of that when I mentioned Cinco De Mayo??? Can I put it down to exhaustion from work? ;)

Maybe we can have something that says our slogan with the dates etc.??

Lisa

So would that be 3:00 am EST on 2/18? I've heard others say that for us East Coasters it starts at 3:00 am. I know its 75 days for us, but my math isn't working out. I figured...
Feb 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 27, 28 = 9 days
March = 31 days
April = 30 days
May 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 = 5 days
AND 9 + 31 + 30 + 5 = a total of 75 days

so ok, maybe its 75 days PRIOR to the cruise date, not counting the day we actually cruise, but that would be 2/19, right? See my dilemma? I just don't want to stay up til 3am more nights than necessary because I don't know how to count. All I want is one little Palo Brunch but I have to get Flounders ressies at the same time just in case DS isn't accepted to the kids club. We are working hard on the potty training (but we have a lot of work to do) and he will be 37 days shy of 3 so he may be rejected for that reason.

I love the Cinco Dis Mayo idea. Good job Madisonznana!

The easiest and best way to figure out what day to get up at 3am (which I don't know why anyone does, because I got all my ressies and I slept in!),
is to make your final payment (which you need to do prior to anyway) and then log into MyDisney Cruise and it will tell you what date you can sign up.
It also said what dates you could do that on the letter that came with the last package we all just got...the one with the excursions etc.
:)

I love the "Cinco Dis Mayo" slogan. So how about everyone get some sort of disney shirt or polo w/ character on it and put the slogan on the back by either transfer or embroidered?

I've started making door signs. What do I need to hang them? Double sided magnet tape????:confused3

Have a good day!!!

I didnt know you was staying at the Radisson as well. WHo else is staying at the radisson?? What shuttle time did you sign up for? We have some friends that live in Florida so i think we are meeting up with them that friday when we get in so we may not even be there for most of that day. BUt all of us staying at that hotel could meet later in the evening after supper or something too and let the kids play before bedtime. we have the early shuttle time as well as cruiseboundnky :confused3 ..is that correct karen? :

Yes we have ressies at the Radisson and are on the first bus over at 10:00 I believe. Would love to get the kids together.

We are starting both kids in swimming lessons next week. dd already does good, but I want ds to get more acclimated to the idea. :rotfl2:

Can't wait to meet everyone soon.:woohoo:

And I called DCL and the gentleman I spoke to, said Feb. 19th. I did not think to ask about a time though.
Debbie, we are flying out of Ontario airport and arrive in Orlando at 7:15 pm. Long day considering we leave at 7:40 am! I think our layover in Dallas is long though. I didn't want to foot the bill for a direct flight. It was almost $200 a person extra. That would pay for a lot of pictures a crazy Nana could want of her little princess: at shutters!:thumbsup2

I have a friend with an embroidery machine, I wonder how much she would charge? Knowing her, probably not enough.:) She is a sweetheart, but she can't say no yet. I have been trying to train her to get tough, but so far I am not making progress. Watch, I will ask her about this and I won't be able to afford it now!:rotfl2:
Should it all be in one line
Cinco Dis Mayo Cruise 2007 or
Cinco Dis Mayo
Cruise 2007
I am not much of an iron-er either. I just spent the weekend with a friend for a quilt show and she ironed EVERYTHING every morning, including sweatshirt and jeans. She loves to iron. Maybe we could get her to iron all of our shirts! :lmao:

Cool. I made my final payment and have my reservation number so I'll try that. I haven't gotten the package yet. Costco told me that when they receive it they will forward it, but DCL won't send it directy to me. I guess I'll find out eventually.

You can use double sided magnetic tape but doing that you may want to print your sign on a harder paper like photo paper or laminate regular paper. You can also print on magnetic paper, though its pricier. A third option is to go to Michaels or another craft store and purchase for less than $2, a magnetic photo frame - looks like those sheets you put scrapbook pages in but the back side is all magnetic. I did our signs but haven't printed them yet so I have no idea what they look like. I don't have PhotoShop or a fancy print program so I just used MS Paint but you are limited in what you can do. I borrowed my graphics from other disers for the most part. I'm pleased how my plagarized signs turned out but I'm worried they will be all blurry when I print them or not the right size.

Anybody looking for sign ideas, in addition to the magnetic sign thread on the DCL forum, also check out the galleries of the creative disers - wow those ladies are talented!

I don't charge either when i do embroidery for friends..i just ask them to pay for the item they want it on and that is it. If i embroider i will have to do a 2 liner. but i think the 2 lines would look better as well...i have to order some shirt from disney yet..maybe i can go to the one store in the mall around here this weekend and grab some. have to see if i work i guess :rotfl2:

dd has been doing swim lessons for awhile now at the ymca..shes doing so much better.

Ok dh is telling me i should make everyones shirts for the trip. :confused3 He thinks my machine sits and collects dust but he don't understand that it can be alot of people and its cold in the basement right now and i would have to start almost asap to get these all done and mailed out in time:rotfl2:

They have no clue, do they?
We don't have any Ymca's here. I found one place that has swimming lessons starting in March. She puts the sign up date out in mid Feb. and then on a specific date you call in and try to get your dates. Kind of like trying to get ressies at Palo!:rotfl: Hopefully I can get a date. I would like her to be really comfortable in the water without needing floaties or a preserver.

That makes sense. I logged onto DCL website (after it got fixed - wasn't working earlier today according to sevral disers - whew, at least know it wasn't just me being inept) but all it says is:

Hmmm...that's odd, because when I added things to my wish list, and then I checked Palo, it told me I couldn't reserve yet and to return on Feb 3rd.
It specifically said Feb 3rd...which is even more odd because the paperwork I rec'd said Feb 4th! (sigh)

Again, I don't think anyone needs to overly stress about ressies, I am sure even if you can't get them online, you can get them onboard. I did not reserve Palo until we boarded on that Saturday. And that was after sitting in the parking lot for 2 hours whilst we had a bomb threat, then eating a late lunch buffet and then going "Oh crud, I forgot Palo ressies!" :) I mean it was right about time for the safety drill and I went down there. (everything was extended because of the wait in the parking lot.)

So hold the faith, ressies aren't that hard to come by. Of course, I can't speak to the Flounders ones because I have never used them!

I know I shouldn't stress. I'm just planning obsessed. DH is not planning obsessed. His strong preference is to do nothing wth respect to planning, packing, directions, etc. I do all the scheduling. I pick up the rental car. I do all the driving. If I ask him to do something he usually screws it up and that stresses me out more. I almost missed a flight this summer because I asked him to get directions to the rental car return (flew out of a different airport than we flew in so hadn't been there). I dropped them off at the curb, told him exactly how to check in, and went to the place only to find out he gave me directions to the corporate office - nowhere near the rental car return area. It was quite a fiasco and the fact that I was lugging a very heavy carseat strapped to my back didn't help. Needless to say, I try as hard as I can to do in advance as much as I can and I just leave the heavy lifting to him. Ideally I'd like to board the ship and let DS play in or by the pool. I'll run around trying to get ressies if I have to but it would be great if we already have them. DH doesn't know how to put DS's ear plugs in and he has tubes so he can't swim without them. So I would have to get DS all dressed and ready to play before I could deal with ressies.

oh Kim, my dh is not quite that bad. He insists on doing all the driving! :drive: But I try to sit him down to look through the excursions and he just says pick what you want. I am trying to get him to help with our trip to WDW also, but he just trusts me to pick everything. One of these days I should purposely botch everything up and see what happens!:confused3 But I would HATE not having everything done just right. I gotta admit, I am pretty good at all this stuff!:rolleyes1
I do make him pack himself, but I have to stand there and remind him we are going more than 3 days!! And sometimes I lay out some shirts etc., but I make him put them in the suitcase! Oh and he does carry more than his share of suitcases.:thumbsup2
I talked to my girlfriend last night and she is going to embroider our shirts.
On the front above or below Mickey (depends) on room, I will have Madisonznana aka Karen Madisonzpapa aka Bob and of course Madison.
On the back
Cinco Dis Mayo
Cruise 2007
That is one thing to check off the list! For those that do not have access to an embroidery machine, Michaels and JoAnns and probably Walmart sell iron on letters. They probably won't have the Dis green but maybe you can use a fabric marker to color that part.

Okay, door signs....you make more than one? And if I add some very slightly dimensional stickers, do you think I can still get it laminated? I am going to personalize my sign and laminate it because I read on another board that a few people had their signs stolen. I figure no one would take ours if it had names and could not be altered. Pretty crumby thing to do on a family trip!:sad2:
I am going to a crop night at a local scrap book store tonight. You just sit and work on your own things, but everything is availble, including their tools and other people to add advise for us newbies. I am going to work on our Tahiti cruise of 2005. I have two whole pages done!:cool1:
Bye for now
Karen
