May 5, 2010 Magic of Barcelona

A couple of us from the Facebook group decided on the Meet & Greet to be at the Promenade Lounge on Thursday 5/6 (2nd day) at 2pm. Feel free to join us!:grouphug:

That sounds good to me! I was just wondering about the meet. I think that's where most groups do their meet. If they have something going on in there during that time, we can always meet just outside the area.

I wouldn't worry too much about cruise docs, I just saw on the cruise before ours where several people haven't got their docs yet, either.

The Magic left for Barcelona yesterday, so we are that much closer to our cruise! Can't wait! :goodvibes

I had just over $20 credited back from DCL on something. Wonder what that was? Not complaining though!

Well, we will officially be in Paris two weeks from this time, heading to Disneyland Paris! I'm so excited. I went back in 1995, shortly after it opened over there, and had a great time. I was studying in London and took a long weekend down there, all by myself (at that point, I needed a break from my roommates). The entire country of France was shut down on some strike, which always seems to happen when I'm in France. British Airways had to fly in air traffic controllers from the UK to work at the BA terminal at the airport b/c the French were striking. Disney had a special shuttle bus (free) from the airport to the hotel, since no public transportation was working. It was quite the weekend. I'm hoping this trip will be slightly smoother, lol.

I have a huge pile of stuff to pack or finally decide not to take. I'm pretty brutal about packing when it gets down to it. Need space for all my purchases, after all!

I'm pleased with the meet and greet, that works for us, we will be there! Well, at least I will be....not sure if I can drag DD out of her club.....most likely I can get the boys to come.

We watched the Magic sail away on the 2 palms cam last night, I was playing disney music while we watched and we cheered "the Magic is coming to us!!! " :cheer2:

Our docs showed up and my DD informs me that she has 20some days left to count down on her countdown calendar (she told me the exact #, but I don't remember!).

We are dogsitting the sweetest Cairn terrier while his family is gone on spring break, I just love the little guy!!

We haven't been there since 2002, when my DD was 2 and my DS was 5. We plan to make it over sometime in the next year, it is such fun to compare parks :). I like the Paris version of the Thunder mt. railroad best!

I'll be sure to post that on the website!

And the credit everyone has been getting is due to a change in taxes.

Hey Disney-lover, that was me. I did end up booking it (or paid via paypal at the very least). I'm calling it the mystery shuttle bus now. I got prompt email responses from them. But I read a tripadvisor review that was a little sketchy - it was only one review and they didn't say anything bad; they were just confused whether it was a legit biz or not. Hopefully, everything works out. I got goofy mum to join us as well. I'll PM you with my name so you know what last name to look for when we disembark - in case we don't meet beforehand.

Thanks hun.

I have PM'ed you back. I am sure it will all work out well and we will get back to the airport. Although if we don't maybe we could just stay on the boat for another 10 days :rotfl::rotfl:

How do people know they have got extra onboard credit? I have just looked at my booking online and cannot see onboard credit on there.

Are there any couples that would like to sit with us for dinner? We are a little worried about getting sat with a big family and feeling out of place, but maybe if we could plan in advance and request another similar couple, we could avoid the weirdness. Just a thought. DH and I are early 30's, have 1 child who is staying behind with grandparents, military, southern, love traveling (Disney!) history and theatre. We aren't big drinkers, DH doesn't drink, and I may have one drink with dinner. (Certainly don't mind others who drink more) I know this may seem like a weird request, but if anyone thinks they might could get along as our dinner mates, let me know. I think this is one of DH's biggest fears of the trip (being stuck feeling really awkward at dinner with an arguing family etc).

I think DCL tries to seat couples together. I've been on 5 cruises total (4 DCL) and I've only had 1 akward dining experience. That was when I was sailing with a girl friend of mine, but everytime I've sailed with my husband, we've always had a really good experience. My parents usually cruise without us and have also always been seated with other couples.

There are a few things you can do: 1. you can call DCL and put in a request to be seated with other couples. 2. if you find someone on DIS to dine with call DCL to have your reservations linked for dining. 3. If worst comes to worst and you are seated with weird people, talk to your head server and see if you can be moved to another table. They can usually work something out. :goodvibes

I actually called DCL to ask a similar question. Total, we're a group of 5, so I think it would be akward for someone to be randomly seated with us (I mean akward for them, not us, lol!). They said they try to accomodate requests.

Who else has early seating?

I don't know if the servers would be able to do it, but I think it would be fun to have a few dinners with some other families. We'll have a total of 8 in our party this cruise but sailed previously with 21 people in our party. They just pushed several tables together.

Who else is doing the Palo High Tea our first day at sea?

We had discussed earlier in the thread having a group from the board sit together. My sister and I will be there. If you have a reservation and want to join us, PM me and I'll ask Palo to seat us together when I check in .

Also, I have an extra reservation available if another gal wants to join us. Send me a PM if you'd like to take it.

Would it be possible to change the time to 1:30? Palo brunch ends at 12:30 and the High Tea starts at 3:00. That would give those of us going to the tea some time to get dressed up for Palo without missing out on the Meet & Greet.

I believe that seating for brunch ends at 12:30, but that eating continues until later.

My plan is to arrive for Meet + Greet in what I'll wear to tea, so if I want to chat and mingle for an hour, I can :cutie: ! I won't be too dressed up, most likely just a skirt combo or casual dress....many women wear capris to tea. I hope you come dressed for tea too, so that we can all walk to tea together :goodvibes

We have early seating and I would enjoy being linked with other disers. We don't have to be all at one big table, being in the same area could be a lot of fun!

Disney Lover, you'll have to phone your TA or DCL to confirm your OBC. It doesn't show up in your reservation.

Here's another wardrobe question... Does anyone know if women are allowed to wear pants to the Vatican? I was chatting with a friend last night and she said she thought women had to wear skirts or dresses that covered their knees to be allowed in. I am not much of a dress person unless it's for dinner or a special occasion, so I just wanted to check and see if anyone had been. I know your knees have to be covered, but I thought pants were ok. :goodvibes

Pants should be okay. I went back in 99 and as long as your knees and shoulders were covered, it was fine.
