May 4th, 2025 - 13 Night Eastbound Transatlantic Cruise from Port Canaveral to Barcelona (Castaway Cay, Azores, Lisbon, Cádiz)

After a morning of stress trying to book a VGT as they were selling out, I was able to do so! I am so beyond grateful to my TA, Wes, for getting me on after about 3-4 attempts. I was using multiple cards, so he had to call every time, but he got it for me.

I am booked and paid! Hopefully, I will get my stateroom number soon, but we'll see. Can't wait to see you guys there!
I am happy that it worked out for you!

Don’t expect a stateroom number soon. Restricted rates like your VGT usually don’t get a room assigned between 14 and 7 days before the cruise. There is a sticky thread about GTY rates on the main cruise board whee people post their experiences.

On our last cruise we didn’t have a room until 3:30 pm the day before embarkation! By then I was checking every 15 minutes… that’s rare, but can happen.

I should have clarified. By "soon" I meant more than two weeks out from the sail date. I know it will be at least another two-three months before they start assigning them.

Hello Everyone,

I’ve joined this cruise. It’s my 4th one. Once we disembark in Spain, would anyone be interested in taking the ferry over to Morocco for a day? If so, please let me know.

Welcome, it is also my 4th Disney cruise! I would love to go to Morocco, but it's not in my budget this time. I chose to stay in Barcelona for 3 nights instead.

Thank you! Ok, I completely understand. I read it’s approx $60 round trip by ferry in case you change your mind.

Have you checked out the website? I went to take a look after you posted this and it looks more expensive than that (about $200 round trip). If you found something cheaper than that I'd be intrigued (we've booked a few days in Barcelona after the cruise, but the chance to go to Morocco is intriguing . . .)

I can’t see how it can e done as a day trip. Barcelona is nowhere close to Morocco. Cadiz is much closer and it will take our ship 36 hours from Cadiz to Morocco. Even the ferries to Mallorca take 7 hours and that’s so much closer. Also just straight south of Barcelona is Algeria, not Morocco.

Hi Redhead,

I did not. I relied on a previous discussion board post without going to the actual ferry website. I’m in the initial stages of creating an itinerary for each country. I should’ve known it was too good to be true. Thanks!!

Hi Flossbolna

Yes, you’re absolutely right. In my search for information about ferries to Morocco, I should have been more specific about departing from Barcelona! 🙈 Thank you for the heads up.

I was under the impression that they meant take a train to Algeciras, then board a ferry to Tangier. I would love to take a ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar to Morocco, but if I'm traveling outside of a cruise, I need more than one day in the city.

Edit: But yes, the train is still long (probably about 11 hours). Cannot do it in a day.

I was looking into taking a day trip to Andorra this morning. Most people don't even know it's a country, much less a place, and it's only about a 3 hour train ride from Barcelona (and then 3 hours back). You could easily board a train at 7am, return by 10pm, and have dinner in Barcelona. I'm not sure if I will since I only have 72 hours from disembarking the ship to having to be at the airport, but I would love to knock another country off my list.

As an fairly old (53) European who visited lots of countries before starting school I can tell you that ticking off countries is way overrated. 😊 You are young and adventurous and will be able to see so much of the world in the future. Barcelona is wonderful and unless there is something specific about Andorra that you want to see, I think your time would be better spent wandering the streets of Barcelona than sitting 6 hours on a train just for a country. You won’t get a passport stamp anyway as it’s part of Schengen.

I agree with all of the above except the “fairly old” old comment!!

Hello,

For those of us cruising solo, does the cruise line seat solo travelers together at dinner? I traveled with my mom on my previous sailings, but since she doesn’t like to fly, I’ll be doing this on my own.

You can request whatever you prefer. Call DCL (or ask your travel agent to call if you booked with a TA) and ask them to note a request for either solo table or table with others. If it’s important to you, once you have boarded go to the area that is noted in the app for dining changes (usually it’s in front of Enchanted Gardens, they also take Palo and Remy reservations there) and talk to the dining room managers to see if your request has been granted and if they can still change it if it wasn’t.

If I did not request anything, and I am traveling solo, am I automatically put with other solo travelers? I'm pretty sure I will, but I just want to make sure because I think that would be fun.

I searched the discussion post using solo cruisers and found mixed responses. It appears to be a 50/50 split; some solo cruisers were seated with others, while some were given private tables upon request.

I think on this cruise you have a better chance for a private table if you want it as there tend to be fewer passengers on TAs. And also more single cruisers. So they might actually fit better groups together than on standard 4 night cruises.

If that’s what you prefer, go ahead and make a request. A couple we know always requests a large table and usually ended up at a table of 8 with other couples and/or solo cruisers.

That’s a relief! I was anxious about being a solo cruiser for 13 days, but I desperately need a nice break, and cruising is the perfect way to unwind. I don’t mind sitting with other cruisers, whether couples or fellow solo travelers. I’m sure I won’t go to dinner every night, but I would love to be in good company when I do.
