May 4, 2013 Fantasy 7 Night Eastern Caribbean

If no one has volunteered to keep a list of the people participating in the fish exchange I would be happy to do it!

Also, on our last cruise we had a post card/recipe exchange that was really fun. Basically we got (or had printed) postcards from our home and added a recipe on the back. I got lots of great recipes to try out!

Please let me know if anyone is interested!

I'm so looking forward to being back on the Fantasy! :yay:

That sounds like a great FE idea. I can always use help cooking. :goodvibes

OK! So the hunt for a quality underwater camera is on!!!! We have done some research online and went to Best Buy tonite to see which cameras they had. We looked at four, 2 Olympus, a Nikon Coolpix (my fav so far) and a Fuji. I really want something that we can use for snorkeling (we are snorkeling virgins) and something for the beach that won't get ruined by sand. Any suggestions?

I like the recipe idea too!

Nikon and Cannon tend to make pretty good cameras. They both make some waterproof ones. My little sister had a Pentax or Panasonic one, and it kept getting water underneath the screen.

I definitely recommend trying them out first. I've found some that are slow to take the picture, have really slow cycle times (waiting awhile to take the next one), and some that just don't take good pictures.

I have a Cannon D10 that I've had since 2009 and it takes great photos all the time! It's easy to use and I've never had any trouble with it.

Here are a few photos that I took while snorkeling just last week in Costa Maya. The water was a little cloudy that day and the waves were really tossing us about a lot.

I have a Canon D10 as well and love it!
Here's some photos from our Caribbean trip in 2009:

The first three photos are all under water, the last one is at Castaway Cay, just to give you an idea of what photos out of water look like with the D10. Good luck with your search!

And I agree, Canon and Nikon are both great. :thumbsup2

Alright, now I'm jealous we don't go snorkling more.

In 2009 DH and I went on the Doubloon Sail and Snorkel at St. Thomas and it was great! We got to see a lot of sea turtles and fish.

I've also heard great things about the St. John Champagne Catamaran Sail and Snorkel. But I don't know which Port Adventures we'll book yet.

for this cruise :) Can't believe May is so far away. Did the Western this year on April 28 and we had such a great time that we re-booked again. Especially our 14 year old son. It is amazing how great a family vacation we had.

I posted some new information about FEs on the first entry. Be sure to send amanda.c09 your info if you are interested in participating. She is going to be compiling a list. There is also a link on there about "What is an FE?" if you are wondering.

A GTY stateroom?

From what I understand it means that it is a specific room type guaranteed but you don't know the room number until shortly before the cruise. I was advised that this is one of the best ways to get an upgrade. For instance, if you have a guaranteed ocean view (port hole room) and they want to sell them because they are selling better than rooms with a verandah, they may upgrade your guaranteed port hole room to a verandah, so they can sell the port hole room. Does that make any sense (my explanation):confused3?

I should have been more specific...LOL I know what a gty room is, but I don't see where that rate is available for this particular cruise! I obviously didn't word that as a question sorry!

We will be joining you for the May 4th sailing. We have been to WDW a lot, but this is our first cruise. We are very excited to say the least. Stateroom 6590, late seating for dinner. Our family includes Me, DH, DS 9, DD 6 and DD 3.
