May 4, 2013 Fantasy 7 Night Eastern Caribbean

Hi everyone! My husband, son (will be 4 y/o this summer), and I will be joining you guys on this cruise! We are not able to book until July because my husband just interviewed for a new position. If he gets the position, we will have to make sure the cruise will not present a conflict. Just thought I would go ahead and join in a little early. As soon as we book I will post our details, and I am sure I will have plenty of questions for planning our first cruise. :cool1:

I finally read the entire thread - so now I'm all caught up and have a few questions:

We have cruised with Disney before with kids, but this is the first time without. I am 56 and my husband is 61. Will we enjoy ourselves? Are there activities geared towards adults?

Will there be a pirate night on our cruise? Do people wear costumes? What actually takes place?

Will Cinco de Mayo be celebrated? If so does anyone know how?

What night is the fireworks show? What time? Best viewing area?

Are tips automatically added to our on-board account? Or should I bring along the "Mousekeeping" envelopes I've used previously at DW?

Do we need reservations for the evening entertainment? Are there production shows, comedy shows, musicians every night?

Do we need reservations for lunch in Paolo?

Thanks in advance for all your help. I'll stop at these questions for now. I'm sure I'll have more in the future.

DH 56 and I 51 were on the Fantasy last month. We were on the western carribean. There are activities for adults. Did we do them? no. we spent our time lounging, eating, sleeping, spa time, eating etc... We had a very relaxing time. Our DD 22 and her BBF 21 did alot more of the adult activities. They stayed up past our bed time.
Pitates Night- yes there are alot of people in costumes. You get a bandanna at dinner that night. That was our costume. The fireworks are during pitates night. There is a deck party, buffett, then fireworks.

Tips were automatically put on your state room account. We pre paid ours. Then added more for our excellent servers.

There were shows every night. Just show up. no reservations needed.

Palo?Remy? Yes you need reservations.

It will just be me and DH next year.

Welcome to our group

Me and DH don't have any children and this will be our fourth Disney Cruise. There are plenty of adults only activities and other activities that adults can enjoy. There are several different beverage tastings such as wine, beer, champagne, martini, and mixology classes for an extra fee. There are musicians and comedians in the lounges each evening. DH and I would always go to The Tube after the show (we had early seating on the last cruise) to see the cabaret each evening.

There was always dance music after the cabaret, but at that point we either got a drink in another lounge or headed back to our room. There are movies and even sports games playing on the Funnelvision or they have sports games on in O'Gills. We enjoyed all of the shows in the Walt Disney Theatre too. There are also movies playing in the Bunea Vista Theatre throughout the day and evening.

We were always doing something and stayed busy. When we wanted to relax we would head to one of the adults only pools or Satellite Falls, or go to Deck 4 to take a nap on the loungers.

Hi All, I am just wondering when is the time to get a fish extender going? I am already searching for the perfect catch!!! Am I a little obsessed or what? Any way when is the count and participation finalized and is it broken into two or more groups if it is extensive? Just trying to guage how many gifts are needed in case I run into some great deals.:confused3:confused3

I have volunteered to be in charge of the FE list. So far there are four people in for the Fish Exchange and two people in for the Recipe/Post card exchange. More information about both is on the first post on the first page. I don't know when to have it finalized. On our last cruise we passed the final date that was 1-1/2 months out and there were still people that joined the discussion group after that that wanted to participate. Those of us that had extras included them, but it was not required. Our last cruise was 48 cabins. I don't think that was too difficult. Right now we are a long ways away from having too many people. I would say that if we reach 50 cabins we can split the list and if you want to be in both groups you can choose to do so.

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

Amanda, I did try to PM with the fe and recipe response. I am hoping you got it. Please forgive my ignorance on using this site and have patience. Can you let me know if you got it?:confused3

Thanks,
Diane

I also do not know how to PM someone on this site.

We would like to join the FE and reciepe card exchange. If you need any additional information, please let me know.

Welcome to all the new folks!!!

So, PMing someone -- basically if you look at the left side of this screen - you'll see my user name "nc_tink". If you right mouse click on nc_tink - you'll get the following list of options:

  • view public profile
  • send a private message to nc_tink
  • find more posts by nc_tink
  • add nc_tink to your contacts list
So - click on "send a private message" and it will open a new screen where you can create and send your message. You must put a title in the title field - it will prompt for this if you forget. The only restriction is that you must have at least 10 posts on the boards before you can PM anyone. HTH

NC Tink, thanks so much-Now, any easy tips on how to get a ticker on my post? I developed one but when I cut and pasted, it ended up under my posting name all a goobly gook.:confused3 If we arrange a cruise meet on board, I know you're all going to look for the "old broad who didn't know anything about these boards and had no rights being on them." LOL:rotfl2:

:rotfl2:Okay - gonna try to get you through this one .... hmm - so create your ticker - then you should get a page that has something like the following (the actual codes will be in boxes - for some reason I can't seem to get it to cut&paste the way it actually looks):
Cut and paste one of the following code snippets to include your new ticker on your website or forum posts. If you are unsure which version to use for a particular forum, check with the moderator (or Administrator) on your forum. Not sure which code to use? See our FAQ.
HTML used for web, email and forums that allow HTML.
<a href="http://www.***********************/"><img src="http://www.***********************/tickers/q9ck3p9ugm89ajpc.png" alt="www.*********************** Ticker" border="0"/></a>

PseudoHTML, UBBCode™ or BBCode
Used on many message boards that don't allow HTML.
["URL="http://www.***********************/"] "http://www.***********************/tickers/q9ck3p9ugm89ajpc.png"[/URL"] pixiedust:<-- This is the line of code you will copy and paste from your ticker creatorpixiedust:

Ezcode used on Ezboards.

You are going to copy the 2nd choice -- Pseudo HTML, UBBCode, or BBCode. You want to copy and paste this code into your signature (don't pay too close attention to my example -- I had to add extra quotes to show what the code will look like).

Now, to get to your signature -- go to the top of this page and click on "Quick Links". In the drop down list - choose "Edit Signature" When you get into your signature - go ahead and copy & paste the code from inside the ticker box (example above). This should give you a ticker -- you can test it by clicking on your "preview signature" button. Once you've got it working -- "save signature" and - hopefully - voila!

HTH :)
