I can't believe it! I just got my fish extender---three days after I ordered it on ebay, totally personalized with my choice of colors and our family's names. I have to say, it is really beautiful! What a nice piece of work. I highly recommend it for anyone who was debating whether or not to get it. The link is on one of my posts about three pages back. Anyway, I'm pretty excited. :woohoo:
I got our rolling cooler today, too. So that was exciting, and started picking up supplies for my first aid/emergency kit. :thumbsup2
I also found a really hot pair of dressy sandals to wear with my dress for formal night. I wore the same dress to DH's company Christmas party with satin pumps with a rhinestone encrused buckle, but I refuse to wear nylons on a warm weather vacation, so these sandals will do the trick! ;)
I can't wait!

Ew. Nylons in the hot weather, I didn't even think of that Bobbi! That is what I get for living in Canada... :rotfl: I might have to come up with a pump alternative.

I also started on the emerg. supplies today. I also got some TSA approved luggage locks and a neck "safe" that is waterproof for key cards, IDs and credit cards, etc.

This gets us going each day and talking about our Disney Cruise, it is kind of fun for me.

DH and I are always hopping on the internet to Google something or check the news, or the bank balance. :scared1:

After visiting this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1709938&page=24
I have started surprising DH everyday with a different and unique backdrop. I'll be in the next room and hear him comment each day as he hits the mouse and the screen saver reveals a different pic. I just right click on the pic, and choose "Set as Background". Every day, it gives us something to remind us of the cruise... like we need anything else... :lmao:

It has been going on for about a month now... different views of the ship and Mickey never seem to tire either of us. :wizard:

Wow how exciting! Can you post a picture of your fish extender? You'll be able to bring it on every Disney Cruise from now on.

Also don't forget to bring some zip ties to zip tie it your fish extender to the metal fish. I've read where some have gotten theirs stolen and they recommended the zip tie thing. Just probably bored teenagers roaming the halls. They probably just chunk it in the trash or overboard. :scared1:

If your room is located on a floor off the beaten path you probably won't have any trouble.

I've been picking up supplies since January I've only got a few items left on my list. I feel like I'm going to be bringing a small pharmacy with me.

I'm wearing dressy pants so you can't see my white legs :lmao: and I don't have to worry about nylons and I have some cute strappy sandals. Coming from the south we're used to the hot. Back in the day we were forced to wear nylons to work even in August in 100 degree heat. So glad nowadays most employers have seen their way past that.

You asked for it...

I was able to choose all the fabric colors from her selection of colors (including Minnie's bow) and specify how it is personalized. I didn't tell her what colors to use for the text embroidery, but I'm sure she would do that to order, too! Also, all the fabric is doubled up with that stiff white fiberous fabric in between to give it some body (not a sewer, so I can't remember what it's called). This thing was really made to last. I was kicking myself after buying it when I found the plastic ones they had on ebay for $3.00 (mine was $30 with shipping!), but this is just so nice. The link to the ebay listing for this one is now closed, but here's a link to another one by the same lady: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mickey-Gang-Fis...yZ134651QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It's a little different, but if you tell her you saw mine, I'm sure she'd do one like that if you prefer.

:sad2: Unbelievable! Always full of good advice, captured.

We're 2568, just a few doors down from the midship elevators. Probably about 1/4 of the deck 2 passengers will pass our door on a regular basis, but we're not in the general flow of traffic. However, I'm not taking any chances.

How true! I don't worry about my whiteness. I imagine myself a lady of the Renaissance when white skin was prized. Anyway, these days it really is a sign of good health more than a glowing tan!

Well folks, DH and I are off to Vegas in just a couple short hours... :cool1: I've got all kinds of cool stuff planned for us. He knows about Wayne Brady, but he doesn't know that I've also scheduled deluxe spa pedicures for us (he loves pedicures), dinner in the Eiffel Tower and Spamalot. Should be LOTS of fun...and when we get back, we'll be at the month (and a day) for the Disney cruise. WHOO HOO!!!

 Have a great time!!!

I've got DH going to Hooters Hotel in August for a hacker/anti-hacker convention. :rotfl: Every time I think of that I start chuckling!!! It'll be his second stay there, and when he got back from the first stay, he was so disgusted by the "false advertising." Too funny! I'm so evil to that poor man!

That fish extender is so gorgeous! Well done for such a lovely find
All this excitement from you guys is infectious...keep it coming!
I accidentally found some of the stick on magnet tape stuff today in a local shop, and I wasn't even looking for it! An omen of course so I bought it. Whether I will find time to photo shop something...is another thing!:rotfl:
Btw...we have cabin 2550...so not too far away!

My Hawaiian green bracelets that I will use to ID myself to you all on board, arrived in the mail today! :cool1:

They took a little while, I'm guessing 'cause I am in Canada and they are from Hawaii.

I'm am pleasantly surprised at how lime green they are! Definitely a sign of the DISboards!!! :wizard:

If you are new to the thread, some of us have purchased these green bracelets (or similar!) to let others on the thread know that we are from DIS. If you have been to WDW and stuck lime green paint chips to yourself.... :rotfl: you will know what I mean! :cutie:

Good morning!

Just one month from today, and we'll be headed for the Hard Rock Hotel for our pre-cruise stay!

Who has plans for the martini tasting or beer tasting on the ship? Anyone?

Several members of our party, myself included will most likely do the martini tasting and if they have one a margarita tasting.

One month from today I will officially start my vacation! We are not leaving NC until 5/2 and are driving down. We are staying at the Residence Inn the night before.

Linda

We will definitely be doing the tastings!!!! We're also leaving home (after a day of work) on May 2.

Hello long lost mateys!! I didn't jump overboard....I'm still on the ship with you!!:rotfl2: I have not done ANYTHING for the trip yet. I had surgery inNovember and have had complications from it. My kids were on spring break for the past 2 weeks (of course, they have different spring breaks).

I just booked our flights and hotels yesterday:scared1: That's how bad it's been!

I have clothes shopping to do as well as all the other shopping. Door signs, activity books, goodie bags, etc. I am SO overwhelmed.

I am not sure about the fish extenders. I was excited to do them at first but health problems got in the way. I'll let you know in the next couple of days.
I have a SockHop Dinner Dance for school so I am trying to make my skirt and get that done as well. All this with my husband not here for a few more weeks and 2 very spirited girls!!:rotfl:

For the green bracelets, has anyone seen them in the stores? Party City maybe? I don't want to order a few bracelets and pay shipping for such tiny things! If I can find it around here, that would be better. I certainly don't have time to store hop to try to find them though!!

Anyways, just wanted everyone to know I'm still onboard. Hopefully I'll get more time on the computer and be able to catch up!!

We are booked for Captain Marvin! I think Bobbi565 is on that one as well. Anyone else decide to join us? I know they added a 2 hr. children's trip that's a little shorter with one less stop. We didn't book that one but I'll probably wish we would have! We can request to be on the same boat if you'd like!

Well, off to play with my 2 year old, although I'd rather be on the boards!!:lmao:

Hi Kym!

We found our bracelets at the local party store. They had some with the party goodies (novelties) and others with the luau supplies. I paid fifty cents each! :goodvibes I imagine you might even find them at walmart in the party supplies and such. Maybe? :confused3

I thought I was so smart waiting until just after Easter to find a suit jacket for my 8yo DS. Little did I know how tough it would be to find one in his size! We must have gone to a dozen stores over the past few days and the only ones I did find in his size were outrageously expensive. Walmart had some really cheap, but didn't have his size (they jumped from 8s to 14s :headache: ). I dragged him to each store because I figured he needed to try them on. Imagine dragging a tired, annoyed 8 year old boy through that many stores! :headache: :headache: :headache: Finally when I was about to throw in the towel, someone suggested Burlington Coat Factory. Whew. They had a entire RACK of them in his size. It was AMAZING!!! :yay: I ended up getting a whole suit for him for $30. Of course, it's not high quality, but likely as not he'll only wear it once before he outgrows it! :rotfl: I had looked at Ebay and they had some good deals, but I'm glad I didn't go that route, because he ended up taking a size larger than I anticipated. That kid's got to stop growing so fast! :rotfl2: Anyway, if anyone is looking for kids formalwear, you might try Burlington first. They had gobs of girls dresses, but my dd has a closetful of hand-me-down formals from a cousin who loves to dress to the nines. If I didn't have two tired kids with me, I would've liked to look at the women's section. It looked good, too. Better go back sometime when dh is home and I can go on my own. :rolleyes1

Now on to 2way radios and dramamine... :sad2:

Karen

me, dh, ds8 and dd5 (almost 6).

bobbi565 that fish extender is adorable. It was well worth 30 dollars and you'll be able to use it from now on.

Thanks so much for sharing. Makes me very tempted.....

Welcome back, Kym! Sorry to hear about your health issues, but so glad you're still onboard. You deserve this vacation after having to go through that! Sorry to say, I chickened out of the Captain Marvin's thing. I was really unsure about how DS would react to it, and it seemed an awfully long time to commit to if he ended up hating it. No escape clause! :scared1: If I recall correctly, imheather is on that excursion with her 5 yo DS as well as several other posters on this thread! We'll be over at Boatswain Beach for a few hours. :)

Congrats on your suit find, Karen! Our local Value City store is going out of business and has everything 20% off, so I got DS his suit there. It cost something like $27, and it's actually pretty nice. Since my nephew is getting married in July, DS will actually get to wear it again! I sympathize with the growing thing. I can't keep DS in a pair of pants that will fit! He started wearing size 5 toward the end of last summer, and he's moving into size 6 right now. That's the first time since he started in 2T that he didn't stay in a size for close to a whole year! And let's not even talk about shoes...up two whole sizes since last summer? Sheeshh!

Thanks for all the reinforcement about the fish extender, guys! ;) I am really a bargain hunter and hate to buy something and then see it cheaper someplace else. But I am certainly willing to pay for quality! In addition, the woman that makes them is sooooo nice (and I think she's a DISer as well!) that I feel good helping to subsidize her future cruises by patronizing her business. :thumbsup2

Jodi, would love to do the beer tasting if it fits into our schedule. I'm pretty booked up on Monday with Palo brunch and then salon treatments in the afternoon. Anyone know what day they usually have it? :confused3

Hi Everyone!

I have not posted in a while do to my kids activities sucking the life out of me;)

So I order a fish extender on EBay...But I have a few questions...

Are we each going to deliver once? Do we know how many are involved?
Just need to go shopping and didn't know what to do:confused3

Thanks

Heather

My bracelets arrived yesterday
Cool to have a little package all way from Hawaii to UK :yay:

DH has viewed them with a certain amount of suspicion....So I have to wear one as well??? Yes dear the plain one's for you and the flowered one's mine. :rotfl: He'll get used to the idea!

I love to hear about everyone's shopping and planning, its making it so much more exciting!

I too have been busy with lists, shopping etc.:)

Lyn

Sounds like it took as long to get to the UK as to Canada! DH wore his for a half an hour when we got it in the mail ;) What a good sport! He keeps eyeing both them and our "Seabands" and looking a little confused. :confused3

Anyway, since we haven't been on a cruise before, I'm still up in arms about the outfits to pack. I just realized, we don't have a ton of time to shop... :goodvibes I guess this really is a good thing!

I'm thinking for sea days, I'm just going to wear long pants or khakis and wear them all day. And, I'll pack more shorts and skorts for the days that we are at port. Castaway Key day doesn't really require an outfit. :rotfl:

I would love to hear your tips!

Oh my gosh just wait. I agree with you seems like when they were littler they didn't grow as fast. Now I have to buy at least 4 new pairs of shoes every six months. 2 for each kid.

I can't really even keep them in dress shoes anymore so I only buy them when I have to. My older DS was supposed to have dress shoes for band but I milked it until I had to buy them because I knew if I bought them in the fall I'd have to replace them again in the spring making my total 3 pairs of shoes for him.

It's really disgusting buying them nice shoes knowing they'll only be wearing them six months. When my oldest one got to my size I'd keep some of his shoes and wear them myself around in the yard. Now he's up past my DH's shoe size. :scared1: They're like puppies with big feet. :lmao:

And don't even think about wearing last years stuff in the fall. Shorts I can usually get two summers out of maybe 3 depending on how long they were to start with. Sometimes they start out past their knee to get the right waist size and as they grow finally move above their knee. Pants it just depends so I buy them a little long but sometimes the waist size will get ya.

And with boys you may not get the luxury of them stopping growing at least while they live in your house. I just thought of this the other day. :sad2: Boys bloom late and seems like they never stop. Women usually finish growing between 13-16 yo. Boys can grow up to 18 and past. Sorry didn't mean to depress the situation. :rotfl2: And when their clothes get as big as yours their laundry is a real chore to do and you can't wash as many clothes in each load :laundy: And sometimes you'll get their clothes mixed up with yours! :lmao:

I definitely agree with the quality thing.

She is a fellow DISer. It was funny that you said that I was coming here to post that this morning. I found that out last night by re-reading the fish extender posting. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

Her DISer screenname is LuvtheEars. :yay: When you see her fish extender you'll recognize the work.
