May 3rd-10th****Dis Maytees-May Magic send off

Hi Dyan,

Welcome to our thread! I'm glad to see there is another crazy couple out there ;)

DH was just saying how he is so excited as well, more than he has been for any other trip. So am I!!!!!!!! You have no idea how much I need a vacation. :surfweb:

Bobbi, I love the bracelets that you found. I was looking so hard to find a place that did that but didnt' find a place that had no minimum. They're going to be great!

Sidenote, the thread has since been closed (about the engine problems on the Magic), but can you believe the nerve!? Someone suggested that they heard (of course, couldn't say where) that the 7 Day previous to the Repo would possibly be cancelled to fix the engine. Mind you, it was someone from Oregon... who knows what they know. But, it certainly rattled me a little. I know Linda replied to that thread. And, DCL assured other posters that everything is fine... but man... what a horrible rumour. :scared1: I'm glad the post is closed, we don't need speculations like that.

Ooops! Yes, that typo was only here! I proofread my order very carefully. Our wristbands say "DIS Maytees".

I was wondering if I was behind the eightball on our thread name again... :thumbsup2

misslissa: Yup, saw that. Thought the rumormonger was pretty cheesy.

Hi DisMaytees

Just read the last few posts on this greatest tips threads, and have to say the summaries of tips are really great

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=834700&page=26

I thought I had found most of the relevent tips from my hours of reading over past few months, but the latest summaries show some new ones also!

For example: T42. There is free dramamine in a box outside of the first aid station on deck 1...That might be useful lol!

OOOO I am getting very over excited
(And I too am ignoring nasty rumours unless officially notified. Be very interesting to investigate my independent travel insurance on that one! )

That thread is amazing. I totally learned some things that I never knew.

Does anyone know about the amazing buffet on deck the night of the Pirate Party? One of the tips said that if you have a late dinner, don't eat, just wait for the buffet. Is it the dessert buffet? We have a late dinner.

Last of all, just wanted to remind and inform the newcomers that we have a Facebook group to post pictures and get to know each other that you can join at this link: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=22597317400

Good morning.

Only 8 more Saturdays (including 5/3) till we board. :goodvibes

Hi everyone! :wave2:

It's been ages since I've posted on here, so I thought I'd pipe in and share our tour plans, too.

We're (dh Steve, me-Karen, ds8 Andrew and dd5 - almost 6 Bethany) staying in 6036 and can't WAIT to get there!!!

Here are our plans:
Key West, ride the trolley (on our own) and get our photo at the southernmost point among other possible stops.

1st Sea day: had planned a couples massage at 5:45, but now learn that the shows start at 6:30 AND it's formal night, too. So I'll have to reschedule that.

Grand Cayman: Stingray City Snorkel Tour at (gulp) 7:30 - 11:00. Maybe hit the beach after or come back and play in the mickey pool.

Cozumel: Xcaret

Castaway Cay: Hang out, relax and snorkel at the family beach.

I also saw that nasty rumour and had a momentary panic attack. :scared: But it's passed now and I think I'm breathing again! By the way, we're from Oregon, too and we do know a FEW things out here! :rotfl:

Can't wait to meet everyone! How many of us have signed up for the fish extender exchange? I'd love to have a rough estimate of how many to plan for even though I know it's too early to have a firm count.

See you soon!!! :jumping1:

Karen :cloud9:

No offense to people livin' in Oregon!!!! :goodvibes I just didn't get how this lady livin' all the way over there could have an idea on which cruises DCL was keeping and cancelling!? :confused3 I'm glad that is over with. :scared1:

Ok, now I'm in spending mode  (me) :sad2: (DH - the sole wage-earner) ! But there are things that we just need for the cruise and didn't have last year. I got the requisite pop-up hamper and over the door shoe holder thingee at Walmart yesterday, along with the multi-pack of Sharpies to leave at guest services with the photo matte I've yet to buy. The other thing I missed on the last cruise was an illuminated alarm clock. I am a wakeful sleeper under normal circumstances, and on the last cruise, I basically spent the night alternately cat-napping and watching TV (mostly that station that shows the temperature, ocean conditions, and tracks the ship's progress!) Waking up and fumbling for the button on my indiglo watch didn't help one bit. I love my ihome alarm clock that lets me wake to music on my ipod, and after much searching was able to find a travel ipod alarm clock for only $30! :cool1: Most of the models available retail for $70 - 80, almost as much as the $100 model on my nightstand!

DH and I also found ourselves needing a scissors on the last trip, and after learning of his lifelong desire for a swiss army knife (my dad ALWAYS carried one in his pocket), I think that's my next cruise-related purchase.

If there's one thing I can do as compulsively as plan, it's SPEND! ;)

Oh yes. I know that one. Its part of the holiday!!
New clothes, new toiletries.....new knickers!!!
Shop shop shop. More shop. :rotfl:

Lyn,

I always need new knickers as well before a trip! I also plan on at least one new bathing suit and lots of new socks!

Getting close now!!!!!

Linda

We are starting our shopping tomorrow, ALL DAY! And, I too am like you Bobbi, poor hubby. I make about a third that he does... but I he probably only spends about a third of what I make... I do the rest... :rotfl:

He doesn't get the need for a clock, seabands, suitcase locks (new coloured ones) and various toiletries in all kinds of teeny travel sizes. So much fun! :cool1:

One thing I do find hard, is buying summer clothes when we have a foot of snow on the ground...

Hi all,
How many will be dressing up for pirate night?

Hi sunnydaysahead,

Is this your first time joining our little meet thread? Welcome! DH, DS and I are going all out pirate with color coordinated costumes. The theatre background in me just couldn't resist!

Hi first time on this thread. We just got home from Florida yesterday, so we bought costumes while we were there. DH, DS (13), DS(6) and me.pirate:

Yay! Welcome to the thread... we keep getting more and more people on here!

And, also nice to see another Canadian. Where in Canada are you from?

We are probably in the minority here and will not be doing the pirate thing. We are actually booked at Palo that night.

Linda
