May 3rd-10th****Dis Maytees-May Magic send off

Hello all fellow cruisers. We are still going to be onboard with you all. I haven't checked these boards in forever. How is everyone? We will spending the weekend getting ready for the cruise. I have 6 kids to dress for dinner everynight so we have some shopping to do! This will be our 2nd DCL cruise. I have to get all the shopping done in the next two weeks because hubby and I will be away from 4/18-4/27. Is everyone done with shopping yet?

First time doing this, but thought I would chime in and join the group. My entire family is going on our first ever Disney cruise and we are so excited. Total of 11 of us are big Disney fans, go to Disneyland every month. Looking forward to meeting you all at 3PM and really excited about our Pirate Encounter pirate: and 4 element Mayan experience with zip lines. :scared:

The Bunch: Me (Chris), DW (Dawn), DD (Julianna 6), DS (Alex 3)

Hey neighbor! We live in West Hills!! My daughter would love to meet your daughter! She'll be a few months shy of 6 next month!

Glad you joined us!

We would love to meet. :thumbsup2 We are even right down the hall in 7096. I sure hope I get to see DD after she steps into the OC. That place was created for girls like her. Now if I can just get DS 110% potty trained, we will be set. Everybody pushes for PT concerning preschool, and here I am pushing for the OC. Got to love it.

Welcome to all the newcomers to our little thread!!!

This is going to be SO much fun with all the DIS folks aboard.

We had dinner last night with some of our traveling buddies. All we could talk about was the cruise. I don't know how I am going to concentrate on work for the next month.

I'm having the same problem!!! :rotfl: :thumbsup2

Did anyone booked Jetskiing on CC?

I just read on another thread that someone did and had it cancelled due to "third party issues". Hopefully, this will be resolved if anyone decided to take that route. Thankfully, we did not.

Hey folks!

I was just thinking how excited I was about us being within one month of our trip!!! :cool1:

Anyone else having weird mood swings of "I wish I were there NOW!" to "I'm not READY yet!!!" And then every once in awhile I get that weird one... "I wish we were going a week later so we were on the repositioning cruise!" :rotfl: I don't know why I can't just sit back and enjoy the ride!!:rotfl2: What a rollercoaster :woohoo:

I'm another one with an "just shy" of 6 year old daughter princess:. It will be fun to get them all together!

Any of you new folks interested in getting in on the fish extender gift exchange? :grouphug:

Karen

me :flower3: (38), dh :3dglasses (38), ds :upsidedow (8) and dd princess: (5, almost 6).

Yes yes yes. I feel the same way. I'm excited to go but at the same time I'm nervous. My heart skips a beat and my stomach flutters. I want to go and be beach bums on those beaches where the web cams are and watch the ships go back and forth until its our turn to get on. I keep telling DH can't we just go now!

Oh my goodness! We have been in 7098 the last 2 cruises! We loved our room! My parents were supposed to be on this cruise with us so I couldn't get 7098 and 7096 so I had toswitch to the other side of the hall. Now, my parents aren't going. I am so mad! We could have been right next to each other! That would be funny, from neighboring towns and then right next door to each other on the cruise....now that would have really backed the saying "It's a small world!"

First off...HOLY SMOKES! I leave for a few days (ok so it's been a week) and there are like 7 new pages. DANG you guys have been busy!!! :) I have had absolutely NO time to come on here and spend 'time' with you all. There will likely be no door magnet or nuttin' on our door...just don't have the time. So sad...I have a Pop Century magnet...will that do? (ha ha).

Although I did pull out two of the suitcases and started putting little things in there. (We have a guest room which makes this easy). I'm going to do some packing tomorrow since my son's baseball practice was cancelled.

For those that got the upgrades...KEWL! Just checked and I'm still in 6610 (which quite frankly I'm fine with)...I had 6110 on the Wonder last year so we decided to be in the same spot on the opposite side of the ship (albeit different ship). :lmao:

PACKING TIPS...I read a post metioning the most recent Passporter. This book was AWESOME for me last year (and while looking for excursions on this one too). The best two things I packed last year were the over the door/hanger shoe holder (keeps shoes from being strewn about the cabin and the portable (folds flat) laundry basket (same concept for the dirty clothes (which we now use whenever we travel)). There are tons of other things too that I can share (just have to find what I saved) if anyone is interested.

PACKING...I'll likely have two bathing suits, shorts, t-shirts. For dinner, I have 3 NICE dresses--1 for Palo, 1 for formal, 1 for smi-formal. Two were priced right...the other not so much, but it was really nice...and then for the rest of the time, just nice slacks/shirts...similar to what I would wear to work.

LITTLE BOYS SUITS...I bought Gavin's (he's 5 now) suit at Sears. They had a bunch.

BATHING SUITS...Believe it or not, I got all 3 of my bathing suits at Wal-Mart and I LOVE them. 1 is a tankini and the other two are one pieces with little skirts. I've never been a huge fan of the bathing suit, but I am happy with how these look. They were like $35 each (or something like that).

Brandie--Saw our names together for the high tea. KEWL! :thumbsup2 Just let me know if you want me to come with you (where/when) to try to get you with us for dinner.

COMING IN...We fly in on the 2nd and are staying at the Radisson at the Port. I already called and made my shuttle reservation with them. There is a pizzeria right next store to the hotel (Kelsey's) that is pretty good so we'll be having dinner there. It's sort of a 'thing' now...we went there last year and enjoyed it...plus, my niece's name is Kelsey so it's sort of nostalgic. :) After the trip is over, we are staying in Orlando (Fairfield Suites off Int'l Drive) and going to SeaWorld on Saturday and Magic Kingdom on Sunday and then going home.

OTHER...Seems I'll be cruising again in 2009... :goodvibes Not Disney, unfortunately, but I've heard good things so...For my 40th birthday, the McG clan is going on the Adventure of the Seas (southern caribbean on RCL) over Easter (which is two days before my bday in '09). Since (unless I want to take the kids out of kindergarten), we're at the whim of their school schedules, we have to deal with paying extra for holiday trips...just can't bring myself to pay that on Disney. For almost $1000 less than this Disney cruise and about $5K less than easter week next year on DCL (AND in a junior suite)...you get the idea. So, I'm bummed we won't be doing DCL again anytime soon after this, but still excited that I'll get to spend my 40th in style. :thumbsup2

That's about it...I should be good for another week now. (just kidding).

I second about the bathing suits at Wal-Mart! I got a great one there last year. It's definitely worth a look if you're shopping for one. :goodvibes

After the trip is over, we are staying in Orlando (Fairfield Suites off Int'l Drive) and going to SeaWorld on Saturday and Magic Kingdom on Sunday and then going home.

We are staying at the same hotel after the cruise! We are going to Universal Studios all day on Saturday (we have never been) and then leaving to come home VERY early on Sunday morning. Maybe we'll run into you there too!

Hmmm... I saw all the bathing suits... I think I'm going to go try some tankini ones on today!!!!!!!! Thanks guys.

I too am trying the tankini this year. I bought a bunch of stuff from Land's End when all their closeouts from last year came out. Unfortunately nothing fit or looked quite right. So, I kept some of the bottoms that were the same colors as this year's collection. When the Land's End suits appeared at Sears I was able to try on tops and finally found 2 that both fit looked good. I hated to pay full price, but if they last for a bunch of years it will be worth it.

Dawn, Lisa and I just pulled the suitcases out too and they are also in our guest room on the bed. We did a dollar store run this morning for all the little must haves...shoe holder, clothes pins, laundry bag, etc.

We are just counting the days!!!

Linda

Not to freak anyone out but we have 4 Weekends Left!!! Including this one!!!

Must get shopping done and commence with packing!

Ok I admit it I'm freaking out! :lmao:

Just came across DIS today. We'll (myself and DW) be on this cruise as well. With one week at WDW ASMusic starting on April 25.

Welcome Pilk!!

There are a bunch of us meeting in the Promenade Lounge at 3 pm on the day we embark. Hope you can join us.

Hello to everyone! I know that everyone is all excited about our cruise. My kids have been counting down the days for months! It looks like is going to be a full boat. We are trying to decide what to do in Key West. Can anyone please recomend what we can do? Thanks!

We're doing the pirate adventure on keyWest (and then probably just some of our own thing). The P. A is a little costly in my opinion, but I called the shipwreck museum and it is a 'special' adventure that is done through Disney. They don't do it just by itself (like if you just went to the museum). So...I am paying for it (ick).

I also meant to add yesterday that we're packing our pirate costumes. last year, only Gavin (DD-5) got dressed up, but this year, we're ALL wearing pirate costumes. Kyle (DH-41) got one for MNSSHP this year and I just bought one on Halloween closeouts for Kendall (DD-5) and I.

So far, I've packed the foldable laundry basket and the kids' PJs and undies (we have enough for both that we can do that well in advance). I'm going to try to get a little bit more accomplished before I go to bed, but it has been a LONG day and I am beat!

MISSLISA--I would recommend checking out www.universalorlando.com before you go. There are two parks (universal studios and islands of adventures). Since you're only going for one day, I would recommend checking out the site to see which park better suits you. I'd also potentially recommend paying the $$ to get Disney's version of the fast pass. With just one day, you definitely want to maximize your time there! We're going to SeaWorld because we get in for nothing (it's owned by Anheuser Busch and because we have the highest level season pass for Sesame Place in PA, we can get in to all Anheuser Busch parks free (not including the NEW water park they just opened). Would be cool to see you there though! I doubt we'll check in until we're done with SeaWorld, though. And then Sunday we hit MK for our 'free' day (due to the monsoons from MNSSHP in September). Our flight does not leave on Sunday untikl 7pmish (although it has changed at least twice already)... :)

Hello all, my family will be on this cruise as well. I am excited for my DS who is 6 with all the boys listed, but haven't seen much in the way of playmates for my DD age 4! I hope she will find a great friend as she is a bit more reserved. I have been reading the thread and am getting so excited! We are heading to Florida on or around May 1 so it is right around the corner! I am working on my list of things left to get - the DIS boards rock! Has anyone received their documents yet? I keep checking the reservation online and I know they have made it easier since you can do so much online but I am sure I would feel better with some documents in my hot little hands!!!!! Thanks for any info you can provide!!!

Hello,

This is my first attempt at the Disoards - I agree this forum is fantastic! We are first time cruisers and very excited to be going on this wonderful vacation with our neighbours!!!!

I also have DS 6 and DD 4.They are soooo excited - as am I. DH is still on the fence - but we are working on him.

I think we are planning to meet up with eveyone at the Promenade Lounge and look forward to meeting you all.

I am very very excited that we sail in less than 4 weeks!!! I have been doing some preliminary shopping and getting organized, but have not started packing yet. After reading some of the threads that others have written about starting to pack - I am going to get right on it!!!!!!!!

See you all soon!
