May 3rd-10th****Dis Maytees-May Magic send off

This is great! Since I will also be 'behind a camera' we will all have plenty of photos to share after the trip. I enjoy viewing the same trip from another's perspective.

What's involved in coordinating an activity? I would love for us to do the fish extender thing, but I'm not sure what I would do if I "coordinated" it. Don't we just take the roll call list and go from there? I can help out -- just let me know what to do! :lovestruc

K. :cloud9:

I think you have the right idea. Just get an idea of who's interested and maybe research some gift ideas to help people out. I saw a thread a while back about fish extender gift ideas. Have fun!

We also don't have a theme for our group yet. I would like to make LGMH with our DIS group name for our door.

I would love to do fish extenders, but I don't really sew (beyond mending split seams and replacing lost buttons!), so I don't think I can make us one. Also, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to work in the time to deliver the gifts reliably! I think we'll sit out the fish extenders this time around.

I'm still going back and forth about Captain Marvin's! I may cancel. I know my boys would much rather see the Turtle Farm, and someone on the main forum said that the traffic in GC gets really bad in the afternoon. I'm afraid we will be too rushed to do both and get back in time for the last tender at 4:30. I really want to do Stingray City, but I'm not sure the males will be quite as enthralled as I am.

Another face that hides behind a camera here! If I didn't occassionally pass it off to DH, you wouldn't even know I was on vacation with those guys :lmao:

Hey Linda! Sheepshead Bay native here!! Moved away from "New Yawk" as a teen, so I don't think I have a funny accent anymore...

Bobbi565,

I grew up in Islip, Long Island so I had a pretty thick accent. I then spent 14 years away living in Pennsylvania. Somehow people could still tell that I was a NY'er, even though I tried really hard to lose my accent. I then moved back to NYC living in Manhattan working in Brooklyn and picked up a bit of the old NY again. Now I live in Asheville NC and even though my accent is mostly gone, everyone can still tell that I am a "Yankee", I guess because my southern accent is just not as thick as theirs.

It's okay though, I am totally proud of my "Lawn Giland" and "New Yawk" experiences.

Looking forward to meeting you in a few short months!

Linda

ISLIP?!!! OMG, neighbor, we moved from Brooklyn to Lake Ronkonkoma when I was a year old! Since we left NY when I was 13 and moved to the midwest, and I was a theatre major in college, between the midwest influence and the speech training, my dialect is pretty generic, but when I start chatting it up with other "Lawn Gilanders" I seem to drift right back into New Yawk-speak!

I was thinking the same thing! Some people have neato names for themselves... we should think of one!!!!!!

What about doing the Captain Marvin's early short excursion and then the Turtle Farm? It leave at 8:30AM and returns at 10:45AM. Should give you enough time to do the Turtle Farm then afterwards and not miss the tender - I would guess.

This is just a suggestion and I'm not talking from experience. We are doing the short excursion that leaves at 11:15. We are not really morning people (well except for almost 3 year old) and opted for short excursion because of the little kids in our party.

Wouldn't it be nice to find an option where you all get to do what you want to do?? Good luck with your decision!

Hi again from UK!
Looking forward to meeting all of yous! I tell you we wil def be the ones with the funny accents! My DH has whats known as Black Country accent, and I have a left over Manchester/Lancashire overtone of a neutral UK accent :rotfl: great fun!
We are still researching trips/excursions. Not normally people to take any tours or excursions, we are looking for taxi fares etc. but may be open to any common sense! A bit of a worry to be back on board to sail:scared1:

Hello everyone! I am in a hurry but wanted to just mention a few things about the fish extenders. We haven't done them on any cruise yet but I think it's a cute idea! You don't have to sew....there's a few threads that have realy cute ones and they didn't sew. You can buy no-sew glue!! That's what I'll be using!

As for time, I would recommend just delivering one time. I was thinking about putting a few things together or one bigger item and doing just one delivery. That way, we won't have to spend a lot of time walking the halls! I don't think it would take too much time to deliver one time.

I don't mind putting together the list of who would be interested but I can't get to it for a few days.

CruisinEars, do we have an updated list of cruisers? Or is the old one as up-to-date as we have? Everyone needs to PM CruisinEars with their info to get on the list!!

Also, if you are in a guarantee room, how do know what room you are in to deler anything to you? Just curious!

Thanks,
Kym

Hi Kym,

The list on page 27 is as updated as I have. I keep trying to post and remind the newcomers to get their info to me to add to the list.

On another note, I have been brainstorming name ideas. I don't know how good they are, but maybe they will help spark more ideas. So here goes:

The Magical May Cruise
May Magic
The Magic of May 2008
"May" your troubles be forgotten....this week
Memories of May 2008

I'm in a GTY, but I expect to find out the room number inwards of 30 days but sometime before the cruise. No word yet, but that's generally when I hear that people are getting their stateroom. :goodvibes

BTW, we had previously booked our cruise for this weekend and got the western excursion info packet before we even made our final payment. Now, with this cruise, we haven't gotten the pkg yet... has anyone else gotten theirs????

Thanks for the suggestion, Timster! I mentioned in an earlier post that your sense of humor sounds like my husband's; you are also like him in your sleeping preferences---he doesn't do mornings too well either. I almost booked the same short excursion you're on, but the 1/2 day is only a half an hour longer and since it starts at 10:00, it ends earlier leaving us more time for the Turtle Farm (theoretically). I'm thinking that maybe we can do it if we take cabs instead of busses. I'll probably email my TA and see what she thinks!

CruisinEars, I kinda like the May Magic thing. I'm tossing around something in my head that uses a "May Day" idea, considering it's such a state of emergency for many of us to take a cruise vacation and SOON!

That post was from Mrs Timster. I was working on my sail away dance.

Hello,

I would love to do the fish extenders as my kids would LOVE it! I was thinking if we were all assigned one day but each a different day we would get a "surprise" everyday but only have to deliver once.

FAith&Hope thanks for taking on the challenge of making a list. Should we all PM you with our info???

Heather

Hmmm. What about "Sail Away in May?"

I like the MayDay idea, but can't seem to come up with anthing on it.

K.

OOOOHHHH!! I like both Kym's and Lyn's ideas. those are great.

Also adding: I like Heather's idea too.

So, we have:

May-tes,
May Day,
Sail away,
Magic in May.

At least we have some starts that rhyme!!!!!!!

:goodvibes

Oh, and I like this idea. Then everyone can have a "day"... the odd day we might have two ppl doing the same day :)

I like the names you have come up with! :goodvibes

I was also thinking of "The Magic Send-off" because we're the last cruise before the Magic heads west for the whole summer.

I think it would be cool to assign a day for gifts. I know I wouldn't want to deliver every day!

72 more days!
