May 3rd-10th****Dis Maytees-May Magic send off

Given that this is our schedule:

Can someone please (pretty please!) spell out for me when the first formal night is, when pirate night is, and when the second formal night is? And then which formal night is Lobster night (1st or 2nd)?

Thank you so much in advance ... I am afraid of the yawns and groans I'll get on the regular board. :goodvibes

I know you already made your Palo reservations, but I thought I'd answer your questions a little late in case you wanted to go change anything before the Castaway Club masses go in and take everything that's left ;)

Unless they drastically alter the Western schedule before our cruise, Formal night will be on Monday (first sea day), Semi-formal night will be on Thursday (second sea day), and Pirate night will be on Wednesday (Cozumel). The lobster should appear on the Captain's Gala menu, which is served on Semi-Formal night. Note: as strange as it seems, this is not the night of the Captain's reception (don't ask me why).

We usually try to book Palo dinner on the 3rd night of the cruise. It's Formal night, and tuxes seem to look better in Palo than they do in Parrot Cay. Plus we miss one of the rotational menus that we've had most often. We're probably going to go for brunch at Key West since we aren't leaving the ship, and tea on the last sea day.

Just a note if you haven't sailed concierge before - if there's anything else you want to book (spa, wine tasting, etc), I would go book those myself as soon as you get onboard rather than go to the concierge welcome area (usually in Sessions). We've run into problems with the concierge staff trying to book things in the spa for us or not knowing all the details of extra events that Guest Services would book. Now, this was before the days of online booking, and that certainly does streamline the process, but since you get onboard first as a concierge guest anyways, I would just go do it myself and be sure. Then you can go prop your feet up, drop your bags, and meet the lovely concierge staff (who have always been absolutely terrific - don't get me wrong)!

Welcome, MissLissa and NejTheLion!

Glad to have you onboard! We'll be meeting as a group on embarkation day at 3:00 in the Promenade Lounge, so we can put some names and faces with all the handles! It's really getting exciting now that we are all making those final payments and advanced ressies. I'll be looking forward to meeting you all with DH 44 and DS 5 (and me, Bobbi, 42).

Well, I guess it's time for us to sign on! We just reserved for the Magic for May 3. DH38 :earboy2: , me (38) ::MinnieMo , DS (8) :ewok: and DD(5) princess: .

I'm soooooooo excited! :yay:

Hi Everyone!

We are coming along also. Me (Christine), DH (Tim), DD (Emily - age 7 for cruise), DS (Joe - turns 3 the day before we leave). I'm calling tomorrow to make our final payment. I'm not usually so excited to spend that kind of money - but I can't wait.

Our last cruise was the best vacation we have had - by far. Last time DS stayed home - looking forward to showing him around the ship. We are all getting very excited :woohoo:

Thanks for your attention - looking forward to corresponding with you all and maybe meeting on the ship.

Hi,
Welcome aboard. I have a 7 year old dd too. I showed her your message and that you have a dd7 and that got her excited. Her name is Elisabeth and she would love to meet Emily.

Thank you for the welcome!!:) We can't wait for the cruise. I wish we were cruising next week. It has turned cold here in Michigan. My DD7 can't stand to wear socks or a winter coat so getting out the door to school without a meltdown has yet to happen! :headache: I am sooooo hooked on this board. I have learned so much from everyone. Thanks!!:yay:

Hi, Welcome aboard. I have been following on the other meet thread and another family just signed on that has a dd7. I also have a dd7, we should try to get them all together so they have a familiar face in the crowd.

Also, we are having a DIS meet at 3 in the Promenade Lounge on the day of embarkation. Everyone is invited.

Welcome! I have a DS who is 5 and is always looking for "friends" to play with! Looking forward to meeting you. Check out the other meet thread. It's a little more active.

Since there were two threads going for the same date I've merged them at the request of AlexandNessa.

Enjoy your cruise planning!

Thank you, Mary. :goodvibes I could never remember who was on which thread. Now, we're all in one happy place. :)

Good luck to those with online reservations opening up!

Thanks for the welcome!

Emily was very happy to hear about Elisabeth also! She is already talking about things they can do together!

We are planning to go to the Dis meet at 3 after a dip in the pool. We plan to be at the port early.

Hi Everyone -

Anyone have any good experiences they can share for excursions with a 3 year old (he turns 3 May 2nd)? :cool2: We have a friend who did the pirate cruise in Cozumel with a 5 yo and thought it might be good. We honestly wouldn't be upset to hear that there really is nothing and we should just stay on the boat. We stayed on board in Cozumel last time and had a blast!

Also, anyone else trying to potty train before they go? :confused3 I don't hold up much hope. All I can manage to get him to do so far on the potty is pass gas!! Still - I'll give it a try.

Thanks for listening!

THis is too funny. I pm'd another mod last night asking for the threads to be combined. This makes it easier to keep track of everyone. I guess great minds think alike. :goodvibes

And she is talking about me, not DS!!

Thankfully, kiddo seems to be catching on to the potty. I just hope she keeps it up in all the excitement on the boat.

Hi,

We were on the Western in May 06 as well. I think it was May 6th. Were you on that one? It would be funny if we were on two of the same cruises:)
On May 6 2006 cruise my son had just turned 3. In keywest we did the conch tour, he thought it was boring. In GC we did stingray tour and he loved it. Mexico we did Paradise beach on our own. It was GREAT.. Just a nice beach day:) He went to camp at CC for half the day which he loved...
We had a great cruise with him when he was 3. I guess the only aggravating part would be that he fell asleep early. He also could not swim in the goofy pool with his older sister so we had to split to watch both kids. As you can tell we loved it bacause we booked another while onboard....

I never got a welcome packet:guilty: Do you get it after you make your last payment? I just made my last payment yesterday but I read alot of you got your packets along time ago. I hope it didn't go to my agent and he forget to send it to me.

Honestly, it is the same information as the disneycruises.com website. You're not missing anything. You still have to go on the website to see prices--they don't list them in the packet.

thanks, I just love getting mail that is not a bill....I actually went on the Disney website and could not find the list of excursions. I will look again tomorrow.
GoodNight

Hi again,

Wow... DH is going to think I am nuts! :rotfl: I can hear him snoring and I spent all evening catching up on this thread!!!!!!!! I did skim some, but I hope that I am all caught up :thumbsup2

As I said before, I'm waiting on booking, well... my good news is here and we are placing our payment tomorrow. I have it on hold now and I am thrilled! It will feel so good knowing that I have a solid vacation ahead of me.

DH and I are in our mid 20s, are there many others in this same age group? We are huge Disney addicts, and I am an agent for CAA in Canada, which is the AAA equivalent. I have never been on a cruise, so we are beside ourselves in excitement!!!!!

A couple of times I mentioned to DH that it would be cheaper to go on a RCL cruise and he refused, after watching the DCL DVD, how could we pass up Disney?

What date exactly is everything open for booking? I want to be on at midnight! I want to do brunch on Thursday. And, for our excursions, we hope to just wander around Key West ourselves (does anyone know where to find a good map?), in GC it looks like we want to see the stingrays but not get in the water so we'll do the island tour and semi-submarine and for Conzumel, we figure since we've never just had a 'beach' vacation we'll go and do the beach party, catamaran and snorkeling. It helps that margaritas are included on that one! :woohoo: But, I do have one question... DH isn't the strongest swimmer and we haven't been snorkeling before, do they give life vests?

I have a couple of other questions too. Like, who are you flying with? What time is your flight landing? Did you book your flight with Disney? Where is the Promenade Lounge? And, what time do you usually get off the ship at the end  of the cruise? I'm hoping to spend all day Saturday and Sunday in Orlando before going back home!

We are definitely going to need it!!!!! I am in Toronto, Canada and we had a huge "flash freeze" today, the temperature dropped incredibly fast in only two hours.

Anyway, talk to you soon.
